I always tell newbies - If someone is advising a no-bootie suit, they are just trying to sell you two suits. The no-bootie suit, and the one you REALLY want in a couple more months. 1 - you can roll under the booties until ready for them (frankly, if you've graduate and have a couple solos, it's time to learn booties). 2 - get the booties For someone freeflying, that's a different suit. It's worth it to get the right suit for each discipline. ... I find that as impotent and pointless and sophomoric as boycotting the company for the opposite reason. IMO - If you like the soup, buy it. If you don't, don't buy it. I'd rather the best soup makers survive, rather than crappy soup makers with socio/political agendas to grind. The world would be a better place if people just tried to do the best job they could and stopped butting into other people's lives. ... Supreme Court rejects case of woman ejected from Bush speech

Those are my feelings, too. And if it had happened at a Dem president's speech, I'd still feel the same way. +1 +2 people should be treated on how they act, not how someone subjectively FEELS they might act in the future bumper stickers are an impotent form of communication used by the weak that aren't brave enough to stand up and give a speech, let alone attack a public figure - she was likely harmless as such ... This is my understanding also. I know a LOT of responsible base jumpers that don't leave a mess or tear up property and I think should get access to about anything they can launch. But I know just as many that I'd place bets on would burn the benefit for everyone else just because of carelessness or even just because of ego and idiocy. The 2nd type seems to be growing in leaps and bounds of late. I'll still sign it - for any good it'll do. Edit: interesting preamble - someone illegally basejumps ---> therefore please sign the petition 1 - illegally jump and get caught as a means to go to court and fight the law - that makes sense 2 - use it to justify a petition is interesting, but unrelated and counter to success ... I don't - too easy to play favorites again if the service is mandatory, then the service needs to start in the same place. Unless you want one guy serving as a grunt and another (more privileged) getting an easy stint in the air national guard or another (more privileged) running a soup kitchen or another (more privileged) going to oxford as an ambassador. military is the only place it makes sense - it's equal, the consequences are the same - the sacrifice is equal if someone protests anti-violence ethic? too bad - everyone will have an excuse - no matter how sincere I would prefer all volunteer - but it were to be done, then it has to be equally applied. Now, if you do volunteer - the I'm all for that group getting something above and beyond the others in terms of ownership in the country - voting rights maybe.... ... Another huge point - and I think it's a LOT more important than 5-10 mph fall rate difference. (though maybe at least as much as the 30 MPH difference from balloon suits at 90 mph vs today 120mhp +) A tight suit has less flapping fabric. Flapping tosses out little flops of wind - imagine trying to skydive with 20 other divers just randomly giving you little pushes all over your body the entire dive. I'd rather fly my body rather than have suit fly me. The applies to FF suits too. A smoother fit means more control. ... I understand you. And I agree with 2/2 (unless you are launching from a King Air with big people - then I have some lineups that work pretty decent there instead) But the above - big kids take grippers and learn to fly - no cheststraps allowed. Issues with 3/1 launches are usually a very late launch and presentation by the inside guy, and/or poor presentation by the FF. ((occasionally the random outside guy leaves a foot on the plane - )) The inside guy needs to stand in the BIG GIANT DOOR in the orientation he needs on exit (r. hip and elbow high, angled rearward) - too many inside people stand square to the door and horizontal instead of presented to the front of the plane and pointing a bit rearward. This is really a problem with the front inside - guess they are scared that the wind - this one time- won't be toward the tail???? It's really annoying on 8 way when you need to fit 3 people in there and the inside people try to go straight out with horizontal shoulders....... but that's a digression. Cheststraps - Tucking an arm under another jumper is really counter productive even if it seems to be easier. regardless of 3/1, 2/2, or bigger ways. I'm not a fan of it at all. and you have to then also wait to build the first point as grip switching (totally unnecessary if you launch correctly anyway) is now the delay. imo ... So busted. well, he did say "4way exits"..... the assumption I made was that his reference to "front floater" was just OC. Not 3 out, or 8 way launches or anything else. (Though I do think about 8way outside people as just hips leading and get that 45 degree stairstep picture in place for all 5 of the chunk) However, the mechanics are similar for any outside exit - do what it take to present that hip to the wind. "think" whatever works for you to think - or not, if that works for you. Etc. Lots of pretty good advice so far in the thread. ... Jeanne - you are clearly a politically independent person who takes each issue one at a time. I wouldn't throw a label like "liberal" or conservative at you at any time you are passionate and a bit arrogant about your positions and your life (good and bad) has established some very strong biases - for what it's worth as such - I'm sure I'd be proud to have you at a debate on my side or a bar fight on my side or a skydive or stuck for survival in the wilderness. and that's why it won't work it's a repackaging of the other two parties we already have - their social agendas (i.e., where they wish to redistribute the wealth) will eventually take precedence over fiscal responsibility the rest, I don't care as long as they stick with the small government bullet - but right there, I don't believe they will stick to that bullet when the other bullets come into play - no more than I would a left wing movement ...
