  1. really? ok then It would appear that blasts are running amok all over the world, creating mayhem whereever they go. shotgun owners: Do you know where YOUR blast is? I think the point is that the victims were killed by another person. So semantics over 'shotgun' vs 'blast' being the attacker is silly. Death - by Snu Snu ........
  2. great rewrite BV - except for that one. I'll take a pass at it. Third, we realize that many parents and students have concerns about various things that are taught here. A complete list of topics in our curriculum is available on line. A subset includes topics like sexual health and climate change (for example) that are offered but are not required for graduation. If any student's parents feel a need to have their children learn these topics, we will make them available for a fee in early morning or evening supplemental classes - but they will not be funded by the parents of those that decline these classes and will not be allowed to substitute the core requirements for graduation. ... 3. this usually where one of the usual lefties throws out the "she shouldn't have been wearing that miniskirt" comment......(e.g., capital punishment, abortion threads, etc etc etc) just noting it here since the (incorrect, straw horse tactic) read of your comment is that the father/parents were at fault and this'll head off that non-value added tangent
  4. never - individuals don't dispense justice only organized society has that duty. However, there are some situations, where I'd gladly go to jail. But I'm adult enough to admit that it is NOT 'justice' in those cases and I'd take my lumps - and would expect others too also. You can't give free passes to people just because you have a "that's exactly what I'd do in his situation" reaction. That's the reason our courts are losing their teeth today. ... 5. this one does sound justified - 'not guilty' based on this little article sound like a no brainer. I hope the evidence aligns. the more difficult scenario to come up with the correct answer: If he was able to stop the guy, but THEN, he continued to assault the scum instead of holding him for the cops. I'd have to say 'guilty' even though I'd approve of the results (I'm ashamed to say). ... 6. Sweetie, you are not expecting childen or grand-children in the near future. I fully understand that. If it's not your grand-children, perhaps your nephew will wave a flag one day? Just give it a try. now let's not get distracted by the thread itself. The important thing here is that a German suggested Heineken as a real beer. I think my reality is shattered....painfully. I'm now convinced that you are not really German and, in actuality, must be posting from a library in southern Missouri. ... 7. if your business can't survive without fed dollars, then it's a parasite - so we can simplify this even further frankly, the photographers are idiots to decline any business in this economy - there's business that should be the option to decline at the business discretion (porn, mutliation, 'bad' art, etc etc etc), but an innocent partnership ceremony seems pretty lame to decline the $$ for ... 8. I think we're way past the point where "good luck" is going to help us. "we've some states in "our union" that understand that you can't spent more than you receive" and wishing we had the same thinking here for all of our states and the entire country as well..... 14. no issues there, he did say that still, you mangled it Here's my cartoon bubble of the OP's 1st jump course - "So, you two OLD guys over there, since you suck and will likely have performance problems, I want you to REALLY arch as hard as you POSSIBLY can to overcome your obvious age-based physical issues, you can't relax about it, it's a big freaking deal.......dudes" it's possible that his hit rate for bad performers may very well achieve 100% if he sets them up for fail in the training (this is pretty tongue in cheek, I don't really believe any instructor would do that) ... 16. customizing your settings helps a ton. The G12 is LOT faster (fps) than the G10/11 on similar settings, and I see great shots from experienced people with G10/11s that said - fully auto is safe a couple people (thanks Jon and Sandy) helped me set up my C1 (outside/bright day) and C2 (inside/flash/dark days) customs, and I just choose my ISO on the day or take a slower rate and leave it on auto. the one jumper, Jon, had a G11. When we put ours on the same settings and held down the shutters, I was getting 1.5 to twice as many fps on the G12 ... 17. Potentially many, but I can think of 3 [edit: particularly] useful ones L's = we've used 3 of the (at least 16) variations (not counting those that come from slot switchers) - OC outfacing (Point cats the OC) is our most common - OC cats on the Tail (the other end of it) seems to be more useful even and I'm coming to prefer that one (IMO) - the zigzag version (OC presents the sidebody to IC) is uncomfortable for very new teams and I don't recommend it unless all 4 teammates are really solid and comfy with alternate builds We're flexible on the build for L, B (bunches), N, 22 (doesn't really count since our alternate option is simply the B slots - even on a repeater), 9 (lots of options on 9) sometimes C, we used to do the wrapped up Q on occasion, but it just slowed the random work up so we stopped that Seems that 15 should allow options but it never really came up in any draw..... I try not to get too clever (that opinion is result of experience ) - rarely do you get something for nothing - a shorter move of one guy will result in a bigger move for someone later in the page or even in that transition. But when you do, it's usually blatantly obvious (example 6-N-M) - so then the trade off is will the non-standard build cause teammates to hesitate vs can EVERYBODY handle it. What's the point of saving a second on paper, when, during the dive, just one guy freezes up from seeing something unfamiliar and has to recover? here's a fun one for Intermediate: 9-7 (it can be engineered such that each random transition requires no one to make more than a 90, usually the other two people don't even move). IMO - it's also a recipe for disaster unless all 4 people have steel traps for brains.... ... 19. That false motivation is pretty much the definition of bigotry. And you've bought into it - hook/line/sinker What you are really saying, is that bigotry is "ok" as long as the group of bigots don't "feel" like they have yet "arrived". this is philosophy that's espoused (and cashed in on) by the most hateful of them all and gets repeated by well meaning and decent guys like you so much. So, an Italian crossing party lines and voting for Rudy Giuliani because he's a fellow Italian is very much bigotry. An Italian crossing lines and voting for Rudy because he agrees with Rudy's campaign goals is not bigotry. See how ethnicity is not involved when it's not bigotry? the 'perception' of psychological self interest is just the (usually false) subjective rationalization for the blatant bigotry - "we whites/blacks/latinos have got to stick together" "all those whites/blacks/latinos/jews/chinks/etc/etc/etc are just out to screw us" seriously, this is not rocket science ... 20. Exactly - you can't have it one way or the other the victim's and victim's families should not have a say in punishment at all in terms of law, nor should the affect on the victims (or any other stranger defined any way other than all of society) be a concern in terms of applying justice. they would not be objective in terms of protection of society. Criminals should be punished based on their actions, not to placate the victims or any definition of victim. ... 21. nothing is 100% representative except the full set alpha and beta errors are never 100% and 0% - that would drive sample size to infinity (realistically not infinity, but just the entire group) you mean to say "that sample size is not statistically significant (to __ alpha error) for the set of people over 50" I agree, no test of sample size would show a sample of 6 to be representative to any meaningful definition of prediction error to a group that's as big as the number of all 'over 50 year old skydiving candidates seen over a 3 year period' ... Walker Wins

I think whichever side loses should jot down all the armegeddon statements they claimed will happen and we'll look at the list in a year. For example, Since Walker won: Collect that list and we'll look at it in a year see if the state collapsed. I'll start with one that was provided to me last week by a very serious young girl: - 50% of all the school kids will be sitting in the street with no education in one year add all of yours and we'll stay quiet and come back in a year to test those claims. (And I heard just as ridiculous statements from the pro-Walker side too). ...
