  1. well, that's 20th century, we're two centuries out of date, not one - but it seems silly to spend the money to revamp our entire minting and printing technology for something that's perfectly functional as is why not just ditch it completely in lieu of personal credit/transfer cards? or even no cards and just account transfers and balances with a thumb print? (just think, uncle sam could track and tax and monitor - maybe even approve or deny - every single purchase each person makes) ... 2. IMO - that one should be deleted, it's asinine. It's reflective of the attitude of wives as property, not a nation of individuals Although it does work in both directions, does it not? A man cannot be compelled to testify against his wife? absolutely. however, that's not pertinent to my point (I should have written it "was" reflective of) - If an individual is in court for suspicion of breaking the law, why should there be a special class of citizen that is exempt from testifying in the case? it's silly Of course, I also think that the nature of anyone's relationship is none of the business of the government. Marriage of any kind should be a private contract and government shouldn't be discouraging or encouraging (via benefits or whatever) in any way. People should be responsible for themselves and their relationships. ... 6. absolutely (but it shouldn't be a huge cost or expense to demonstrate it if you already have that knowledge - a simple quiz or personal demo with the sheriff would do. Or a certificate from a gun safety course just about anywhere. Or transcripts from a complete course in high school even. The thing to avoid is the legislation of unnecessarily complex training required from only gun sanctioned and expensive course providers....that would get out of control fast) ... 12. I suspect your post would align better with a philosophy that: every one is an individual, and to try and box them all into one set of assumptions is silly. very likely people could be gay for many reasons - some healthy, some not, some pretty vaguely defined. People are varied and amazing. I wouldn't accept a one size fits all rationalization or reason. For pretty much anything. But I suspect that a very significantly "most" are just naturally inclined to be that way rather than the smaller group that would have various other reasons. And that's the perspective one has to take to it. If a very small subset actually did choose the lifestyle due to abuse, confusion, rebellion, to break into an acting career (ok, that last one is reaching).... It seems unfair to treat the entire group based on rare outliers.... On the other hand, the other side really does have to acknowledge those outliers as not really part of the community, but perhaps those people that need even more help and understanding. ... 14. Thanks for calling my position 'perfect' . I do agree with you, my grump is that well meaning people end up being assholes in a debate that requires clear communication and not the vitriol - pick the individuals on any side of a debate that can't do that - it's the same ones every time. This whole - take tiny steps in the direction of goodness is a great intent, but it's the cause of a really messed up code. Our law structure/tax codes/etc, in every area, is so completely screwed up, and so nuanced, and so designed to cater to this group or that group, and unnecessarily complex, that I've become a strong advocate of just scrapping the whole mess and starting from scratch. (except it would be the same morons doing that work that messed it up in the first place). Simple, minimal, direct, without any social engineering involved other than every individual gets the same protections - it's missing, it's needed. ... 15. the stock response to that is "you hate gays so much, that you'd rather delete it for everyone rather than allow it for them" So a discussion that actually, and rationally, focuses on individual rights, is viciously shut down because it doesn't push the short term goal. ... 16. that's a great question - other than it's not 'rights', it's 'benefits' - speech, worship, bearing arms, bearing witness (bearing witness is point of discussion) applies to all individuals all individuals are supposed to have the same rights "couples" shouldn't have special gov benefits... INDIVIDUALS should. why do hetereosexual 'couples' get to have special benefits that singles don't? giving special benefits for anybody just because of how they associate (other than becoming a citizen) - is unfair it's very insightful how people talk about entitlements and benefits.....yet use the words "rights" ... 18. This is exactly that conversation. Government benefits that tie to the definition. Outside of government, people can and do pair up any way they want. I don't see why two individuals getting married (hetero or otherwise) is any business of the government at all - to encourage or discourage. it's non of the gov's business ... 25. This is speakers corner So, Go find a nice PUBLIC school, and donate all your equipment to them. I'm sure it'll only COST you a few thousand dollars to get it processed: - safety review and school compatability assessment - confirmation that the gear is culturally non-biased - environmentally responsible disposing of any gear that could possibly be used to bully specific demographics - bullying of majority demographics is acceptable though - toxic content assessment - pay off of new equipment vendors with under the table deals to supply the school you might need to ensure that property tax increases are assured to hire a 'donated equipment director of sensitivity and usage' position By the way, since this stuff is all sports related and not sensitive to artistic or IQ motivated children, you might have to attend a local sensitivity clinic to reset your priority balance. As well as 'sponsor' a grief counselor to visit the school and be available for the children that feel left out. good luck and thanks for thinking about the children (those children the NEA deems deserving of being thought about) edit: By the way, is the lacrosse equipment handicap accessible usable? just checking ...
