It's proposed background checks for Internet Gun Sales
rehmwa replied to OHCHUTE's topic in Speakers Corner
I can't answer for the others. But I'm generally against redundant laws (slight changes in words could effectively stifle even more rights in application) and viscerally against congress issuing redundant laws just to look like they are doing something. I know that is 99% of all new laws lately. I just think it needs to be changed. ... It's proposed background checks for Internet Gun Sales
rehmwa replied to OHCHUTE's topic in Speakers Corner
I object to that. Every "Transaction" means they are vetting each purchase, not the buyer. So 'background checks' doesn't really mean what it's being sold as. not one bit. If I passed the background check, why check for every purchase? Check the person once, or annually, or whatever. Not at every purchase. The gov has no business tracking if I own zero guns, or 1000. I've never had a felony, or even a complaint. I'm sane. I'm in a state that has ZERO laws on purchase and owning long guns. (we do have storage laws for households with minors - rightly so) I even own permit to purchase handguns in my state. So the questionaire and background check was done for that. But if I want to buy a hunting rifle from a guy in Colorado, the FFL still has to call in and check. Simply speaking - I should just be able to present that permit to the FFL and be DONE. no phone call, no records. they don't realize that they already have the means to de facto register all the gun "purchases' already today. Who can promise me that the government right now doesn't have the ability to check and confirm that I own that hunting rifle? (even if they 'say' they don't keep records - who believes that?) ... the most bitching I hear from the Reps in the news isn't about the cuts. It's about the last tax increase being given - "just this once". And now every single budget since wants more......but they are pretty loud about it. you do acknowledge the lefties are loud about how, if they don't get even more money, how horrible it'll be for babies and puppies and the elderly - right? it's more tax vs less tax - I don't think either side really cares if it makes a difference one way or the other at all. it's just the mantra to get votes and keep power from the ignorant that actually believe what they hear from the crooks good for you, at least you are 50% skeptical of what you are being fed ... cat food stores longer and in a wider range of temperature edit: actually, it's a trick question 1 - 'woman appearing woman' there's your first clue 2 - the Mexican police are operating in San Diego - I'd say the first action is call the San Diego police so she can tell her story to them 3 - I'd have to run a background check first before allowing her to operate a food card 4 - no one answered my first question - I can't work under these conditions ... Multiple injuries reported in stabbing at Houston college

Given that he had a blade only, they were able to overwhelm him in hand to hand combat. Had he had the force-multipliers of one or more firearms with plenty of ammo, and higher-capacity magazines, he might have been able to hold them off. true, or, if he had had 6 round or less magazines in that hypothetical, surely they could have tackled him during the reload process of about 3 seconds too. Or even run a background check right then. provided they did the check in an environmentally safe fashion actually, my point was that the kids that had the ability and the capability to 'choose' to confront this guy are exactly the type of people the left don't understand, refuse to acknowledge the existence of, and even fear a bit. And are trying to breed and train out. Your opinion will surely vary from this. (and rightly so, it's a pretty big generalization - but fun to play) ... Multiple injuries reported in stabbing at Houston college

So a couple students tackled the guy before the cops got there. I wonder if they'll be arrested, too. They didn't pee themselves, or even fire a warning shot. Certainly their liberal arts teachers will give them bad grades for not being sheep. (just trying to load up on cliches here) Edit: at a minimum, I hope the college offers them counseling for having to act violently. Poor kids. If only they watch more Star Trek: the Next Generation, they could have just smugly talked to the 'stabber' until the stabber killed himself from an overdose of self righteousness..... ... I find it perplexing that some think we should go out of the way to make it easy for law breaking non-citizens to vote yet make it very difficult for law following citizens to make private purchases. In both cases, checking a simple ID (check citizenship for voting, license to purchase for firearms) would fix both issues doesn't it? ... same here, and I like the extra room - one exception if it's really close to sunset and there's a couple loads waiting and it's getting tight: an extra pass on this load -may- screw the entire last load from getting up. Especially if it's just for one guy or two. not a big deal for me, if I miss a load end of day it just means I'm already packed and can go to the bonfire right away ... bull shit wording there Toomey - "you get to buy a gun" When you pass the check, you have the license to purchase. You shouldn't have to pass a gate for each individual purchase. The individual is checked, not each purchase. If you pass - you can buy zero guns. or 1000. It's none of the gov business. hopefully they got that right - but if they need to call in each purchase, then the government is sneaking in a de facto registration of at least the 'count' of guns by each person - none of the gov's business.... ... this is horrible if they need to call it in for each purchase we need a background check as a right to 'purchase'. Get it done, get the card, and the seller only has to check the card. Nothing more. If they have to call it in for every purchase, then the government has a means to count every gun someone buys. That's not a check on the INDIVIDUAL (like having a license to purchase noted above) - that's a check on every PURCHASE. It's equivalent to a registration. I don't think anybody has a right to know exactly what I own. ... you guys are always either/or. Worse yet, you guys tend to be don't spend it here, but add it elsewhere (zero sum game). (how's that for generalizing?) I don't want dollars spent on gardening in Brussels. I don't want more military spending. We need this mindset, cut it all. (Though I am pretty sure that drone missions are not specifically tasked for killing children, but it makes a pretty argument. If they are, then I am VERY against using drones to kill children standing in gardens in Brussels. Or even operating drones from a garden for that purpose - no matter how nice the landscaping) ...
