  1. Anyone have bev's email? I tried to get it off the website but it doesn't work for me. Thanks.
  2. Thanks, Mike. I looked for it there and for some reason I couldn't find it. Karl replied to my email (on Sat, no less) and directed me towards Patrick as well. Thanks. jeff
  3. I have a customer with a Triathalon with some sketchy brake lines. I'd like to replace them from the cascade down. Does anyone have the specs? Triathalon 120 s/n 156231 DOM 18 APR 1996 It looks like the model is Tri 2.03 Current cascade to cat-eye (measured PD style) 75" (190.5 cm) BK-Tog- 16 3/4" (42.5cm) This canopy does NOT have the 4.0 mod. Thanks, and I tried calling but it's the weekend.
  4. In reference to the difficulty of inserting a UPT Vector fat pin, try putting either your T-Bodkin or closing pin into the "circle" on the end of the pin and using it as a pushing tool. Hold the bodkin or pin close to the center, (so it is perpendicular to the pin) and push. Trick stolen from Johnny K who got it from Greg at UPT.
  5. Just got confirmation from PD...We'll have every size PDR from 113-218, as well as Optimum's 126 & 143. Jumping the reserves are free...come and give them a shot!
  6. It was pointed out to me that I sound like I have a low opinion of other riggers. I don't. I only have a low opinion of those riggers who don't check thier work and those who do half-assed rigging. One mistake does not a half-assed rigger make. Repeated offenses will, however, earn you that moniker, though I don't share my opinion with others. Sorry for the insinuation.
  7. I tell everyone about every repair. I include these things for one reason: Repeat business. I have a very high return customer rate, one I've worked on for a few years now. Trust me, my customers hear about failing to maintain their gear, ways to maintian their gear, and all the half-assed rigging I find.
  8. No. It takes more then a brief immersion to have an effect on a reserve deployment. Also, who would regulate "suspected to be wet" or even enforce a total immersion rule? What if someone sweats heavily and it looks wet? This is a sport of personal responsibility. Let's leave it that way.
  9. Those who say they won't raise their prices...how many repacks do you do a year? I'd imagine not very many. I've already done over 200 this year, at $50 a pop. Now cut that by a third and do the math. While I may make more dollar for dollar profit from repairs, repacks pay the bills. If the cycle changes (and I hope they do), my per repack overhead goes up. How do I recoup that increase? Maybe I'll raise my repack prices but keep the service the same. Or maybe I'll keep the same price but charge for all the little things I now do at no charge (all new loops, 20 minutes of minor repairs, no markup or charge for any AAD services, retacking softlinks, installing slider bumpers, fixing other rigger's mistakes, etc, all for free). Which will the customer want, a $50 repack with $30 in repairs or a $75 repack?
  10. 5 years... http://www.mem.com/display/biography.asp?ID=115367
  11. I did exchange a few emails with Todd. We had 3 who'd do the whole season if we got one. Oh well...that's another thread for another time. So far... 2 bottles tequila, 3 whisky, 1 gin, 2 vodka, 2 jager, and whatever the 2 from the last 2 weekends are, plus a keg of beer. bring your favorite mixer...
  12. I tried to get one. Got management approval, got a dedicated aircraft guaranteed in case we were busy, and made arrangements to have medical staff around. We were going to set up two courses, but never got a call back from the organizer.
  13. APRIL 28th-29th at Skydive Dallas... Here's What You Can Expect: *1-on-1 skills camp: Make jumps with members of Synergy on an individual basis, get free video, and the help to work on whatever you want to work on in the air. All this at the cost of your slot, that's it! * "A Glimpse of Flight" Be amongst the first to see Synergy's new movie on Saturday night, April 28th! This movie has tons of awesome footage of most of the Dallas Freeflyers in 2006, lots of wandering freeflyers, and some kick-ass footage from previous seasons! I mean, come on... It is 18 minutes long, it's gotta be good! *The most important part... SATURDAY NIGHT PARTY! It is time to appreciate the good times at the DZ yet again--chillin with everyone, drinking some beer, talking mindlessly about skydiving since our whuffo friends never will, you know the drill! So, the time has come... It's spring, come jump with Chappy, Jeff, and Luke... PLEASE! We will be there rain, wind, or shine, so if the weather sucks, we can still talk about freeflying, review videos, etc. We're calling it an "Individual Focus Camp" (1-on-1 skills camp). Your only cost is your jump ticket(s). Everyone is invited; however, slots are limited--first come first serve. Please RSVP by sending "Dallas Synergy" a message or comment here on Myspace. You could just show up on Saturday, but the 1-on-1's will be first come, first serve, and slots may fill-up quick! See ya at 9:00am on April 28th!
  14. So it's that time again. The booze is overflowing, and I want to see all my friends together. I figure Sat, Apr 28, should be the night. I don't have the apt. at the DZ anymore, but I'll work out the details. So suck it up, come make some jumps, and get ready to drink. I'll let you know about food, but I think I'll have that covered as well. Stay tuned for more details...

  18. Buried deep within the Blackmon book, after the Quasar II manual, you will find the original Quasar manual. Also, the manual available for download from Strongparachutes.com is wrong. However, the file they had posted in the same place 3 weeks ago is correct, known as QS94.pdf. So, in short, if you need the manual, I've got it. Thanks for looking.
  19. I'm looking for the Quasar manual, the original one, container DOM June 1995. I have the manual available on strongparachutes.com. It is the manual for the Quasar II and Steller reserve. The manual in Blackmon's is the same manual. This is not the correct one. The original Quasar has a top AND bottom sub-flap, and the manual only shows a top sub-flap. And yes, I know about parachuteriggers.com. They list the same file. Does anyone have the real original Quasar manual or know the story? Thanks.
  20. One week left...remember to pre-register to make sure there's food for you. T-shirts are available for $10, but on a limited basis..you have to pre-order. See you there.
