  1. silver or gold sharpie... itll stay for a while and then flake off eventually unlike black or any other colors... i use it while working on black. my chalk pencils dont like it I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. 2. 2 rounded rectangles for front and back, one small rectangle for the bottom and 2 skinny long ones for all the way around with the zipper. Look at one. its 5 pieces and a zipper...if you want to add snaps for the risers, you can and i think you can figure it out I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. 5. cut the arms in a straight line accross somewhere around the forearm, take out a section and put it back together... use the cuffs you already have... pictures arent going to help much.. look at some but even finger fucking them without actually taking them apart and looking at how they went together and in what order.... or you can roll the arm over the cuffs and sew them overhanging it to make the nice fancy hidden cuffs, that'll eat up about 6 inches of length for a 3' cuff so make sure you have enough.... really what you do depends on how long they are... 6. first thing that pops into my mind is youre going slower, and possibly forward and that mixed with a semi-worn or too small of pilot chute, can invite all kinds of shit.... the longer stows can add to bag wobble... try and pull out your bag on the ground straight back from your rig and see how the stows pop off... youll see what i mean, itll rotate with each stow... maybe try a semi stowless bag, or try arching harder and getting smaller when you pitch... https://youtu.be/Iq3_vH_qk7U heres a video of someone pitching right out the door and you can watch the bag flip and twist just before line extension. also look at the angle its deploying in relation to the ground and you can see the lines sagging as it plays out... low airspeed can invite all of this.... 9. have him carry it on as a personal item in itself. I never, ever, ever check my rig. Some wierd shit can happen on the way from the check in counter to the luggage pickup at your destination. Make sure he has the aad xray card if you have an aad. I have a buddy that packed and checked his rig and it was opened and stuffed back into a suitcase by security with the leg strap hanging out which proceeded to get hung up in the conveyor and melted through half the leg strap and cover. itd be a shame something happen to a new rig... and if you think theyre going to cover the damages, think again... keep it in sight at all times. 10. sew your load tapes on the loaded ribs all the way off the edge and then hot knife them flush with the edge. That will melt and lock in the threads as well as having the tapes go into the topseam and prevent fraying and unraveling... looking good! 11. when you scale them down, the physics go out the window...its starts to be a guessing and then tinkering game... ive made probably 20 mini parachutes of almost every flavor, from 5 square feet to 30 sq feet. Both crossbraced and non. I've had decent results with 15% thickness at about the 25% from the nose as a good starting point. Thinner airfoils go faster and are more sensitive to trim. Thicker airfoils tend to have better slow flight and stall characteristics and you can be a little sloppier with the line trims... if you move the thickest part forward, itll move the center of lift forward and it will recover faster and fly flatter at a given trim as well as being more stable, vs further back itll be a steeper glide and less stable...pm me and i can give you some more info and if youre nice ill even take some pictures of my rib patterns i have saved for the last 5 or 6 ive made... also a lot of parachutes, especially elliptical ones use different airfoils on the ends entirely than the rest of the parachute.. theyre not just scaled smaller and thrown in, theyre designed to do a certain task at that place of the wing. So the end rib shape does not necessarily represent whats going on with the majority of the wing.... all that being said, have fun, plan on making lots of trim adjustments to get it opening and flying right... its a lot of fun and when its all made, bring it out to the dz and wow your friends... https://youtu.be/I_m9zolvt8E https://youtu.be/Z9z604cMwJw I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. 12. I had this happen on my very first cutaway. I was doing testing, and shit didnt go as planned and had an rds malfunction and no rsl or skyhook hooked up. It has a skyhook but i wasnt using it... I chopped and pulled reserve and it came out and then stopped.... I just remember thinking, shit, shit, while really cranking on it and voila, im looking at my reserve and let my handle just hang.... then it dawned on me what was happening.... i was just hoping it wouldnt dislodge and my reserve handle fall out, never to be seen again. I chased down my shit and had it packed up by the end of the day... I was able to repeat it on the ground the same day as i repacked my reserve... Very disconcerting, but now im fully aware of it and oh well. The little velcro holder is supposed to tilt the pin when being pulled manually so the eye in the cable can slip off and clear, but it doesnt always work that way, especially when the handle is quite literally punched.... 14. It is ready... 107 and 120 sizes will be available for order on november 15th. The 135 and 150's will be available by the end of the month, and the 97 will follow shortly thereafter... Demos will also be available, but will be in high demand and short supply until we build up the fleet... I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. 17. There is some leverage, yes, but with soft flaps, its negligible and turns more into friction as the 2 flaps slide past eachother until the magnets break free... I'd be curious to find out the actual numbers and if maybe stiffeners could help the leverage... maybe if i get some spare time haha ill mock it up and see what kind of forces each takes.... could be fun I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  18. As far as aftermarket gear goes, you and only you are the responsible party and end user to determine if its worth the risk to jump. I've been saying these look sketchy to begin with... being able to shake the parachute out of the bag on the ground is a huge red flag. Im sure at normal pull speed, the magnets work just well enough to keep it closed until line stretch, but if you think about it, with magnets as a closing device, you have a very small speed window that it will operate properly in. Too slow and its essentially a bag lock, and too fast and it could strip as you experience. Rubber bands however, slide out of a loop and are not directly used to pry the bag open. Hope that makes sense. Youve got the equivalent of maybe 20lbs of magnets, plus friction holding it closed. Parachute is roughly 7 lets say, so if you get an acceleration of 3gs or more on that bag, its going to strip. Now i dont know the exact figures, but im sure theyre close to that.. one Rubber band, on the other hand takes 40lbs to break, and about 10 to release the lines from the stow at a right angle. So, if in sequence, its less force needed to open, but more force needed to strip it. Roughly 6 g's to break one rubber band... Again, all rough estimates. but basically it takes the same force to deploy normally as it does to prematurely strip the stowless magnet only bags... And thats if you have a perfect fit for your parachute, which lets be honest... almost nobody has a "perfect" fit. Not that you knew any better when getting it, but it really is all on you. You need to ask questions and research everything you can before hooking something up and jumping out of a plane with it. Many people have said it before, but the issue is less the bag, but rather the fact that somehow you packed a premature opening into a brand new system... you most likely would have had some damage either way. I would also send in your main and have the manufacturer look at it. You could have small tears in ribs that will only get worse. The bottom line is take responsibility for your own actions and decisions. Remember that one line in the tandem video we all watched at some point about parachute assemblies sometimes malfunction even when packed and maintained properly? yeah shit happens. You're jumping out of a damn airplane. Cant take the risks or responsibility for your own ass? you might want to take up tennis or golf... 19. This is your land you unconscious parachute... nuff said bigger the better. Or like the picture... when this happens after dealing with a spinning main on your back and low, you want it as big as you can.... Im sure weve all seen the guy on the 126 at over 200lbs fight line twists all the way to the ground.... I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. 24. Sun does kill bacteria and whatnot, but the UV will destroy pigment and nylon. And again with the vinegar.... its fine on cotton and polyester, but shouldnt ever come into contact with nylon... but hey, what do i know? 25. i would like to add that youre risking losing your handle(s) and freebag and also risking snags and other issues with your reserve... its delicate compared to your main. if you snag f-111 or heaven forbid lowbulk on some weeds or scrub, it can snag and its not pretty. Now back to the manufacturer for repair.... reserves cant be packed unless they are 100% health... so youre risking a lot just whipping out your reserve... when shit hits the fan, its about saving yourself and whatever happens happens, but youre going to be a little less sour about a lost handle or freebag since you just saved your own life. but waiting up to 2 months for handle and freebag replacements suck ass for just some fun....
