  1. Oh my God, Jessica, you're gonna love this one. In October of 1992, I, being the nice guy I am, went to a birthday party. The party was for one of my ex-girlfriends, but I was invited, so i went. The party was, well, pretty lame, but I held it together for most of the night. Some drinking was done, by me (most of the others were not legal), and that made the night slip by a little better. Well, people are starting to leave, and I'm sitting on my ex's front porch steps, talking to her best friend, Stacey. I had met her before, but never really sat and talked with her. We hit it off pretty well, and were having a really good conversation. At this point, Stacey's ex was leaving. He hopped into his Olds Cutlass, threw it in reverse, floored it out of the driveway, across the road, and right into the front of my Plymouth 'Cuda. Holy SHIT was I pissed! I wanted to kill him! I restrained myself though, and made sure the police were called, to fill out the accident report. I didn't have insurance, but he did, and was at fault, so I _needed_ that report. The cops show up, take all the names, write up the report, and check id's. Well, I was still talking with Stacey, and was really into her. Funny, willing to listen, yet speak her mind too. I was seriously thinking about asking her out. Well, up walks Mr. Officer, who happened to be a guy I gradualted with. He says "Jim, you need to come over here." He told me there was a "money or body" warrant out for me. I freaked! Saaay what?!?! Well, the fine due (for a fine that I really had forgotten) was $235. I had just over $100 in my pocket. I tried raising the money as fast as I could, but eventually Chris had to take me to jail. He stalled booking me in though. He had said he thought we were close on getting the full amout, so he let me sit in the booking room, and smoke, for a couple of hours. Yep, sure enough they raised the money, and got me out. They had made a list of who put in how much money, and the next week I paid everyone off, except for the guy who hit my car. Never did pay him..... Well, I get back to my car, and to my surprise, there is Stacey, sitting on my hood. I was dumbfounded! I figured she would have been long gone by then! She says "o.k. now that's over, what was it you wanted to say to me, right before you, um, 'had to leave'?" This floored me, again. After all that, here she was, still waiting for me! Well, I asked her out that night. I figured she waited through that mess, she'd be worth keeping. She said yes. 5 years to the day after then we were married, and that was just a bit over 5 years ago.... Yep, all that and 10 years together. Of course, we've had our ups and downs, she's really tested my patience, but hey, that's another thread! It's your life, live it! 2. I am in complete agreement on this issue! I have one thing to add, off on a little tangent. Child Safety Seats: My wife was in a minor, and i do mean minor accident while she was pregnant with my second daughter. She was driving, with her mother in the passenger seat, of a tiny Plymouth Colt. My daughter was at home with me, but her carseat was in the car. My wife was hit in the drivers door, bashing it in quite a bit, and blowing out the rear side window. The window was "fixed" (plexiglass and duct tape held 'till we got a new car, some 1.5 years later), and the glass cleaned out of the car, and out of the car seat. We continued to use the seat, not even thinking about damage that could have been caused in such a minor accident. Well, one day I was taking the seat out, to put in my truck for a day, and felt something not quite right. Upon closer inspection, I found a hairline crack around the seatbelt attachment point. There is no way this would have held, had we been in an accident, and Kortney been in that seat. It may have slowed her down, but it would not have stopped her. People, there is a label on car seats. It say to discontinue use if it is ever in an accident. If a car seat is in an accident, GET RID OF IT! I don't care if the child was in it or not, or how minor the accident was, JUST GET RID OF IT! I almost learned the hard way, but I learned. I hauled out my Milwaukee Sawzall, and made sure NOBODY would be able to use that seat again. It's your life, live it! 7. I believe in it very much, and I wish I never get a "feeling" again. When I was 12 years old, I had a dream, as any 12 year old will, that my Uncle (who was more like a father to me than my own father) was in pain, and was leaving me. Got up the next morning, shook it off, and went to school. Got home from school, and my father was working furiously on my new room. I knew something was wrong, since; 1. My father never did anything to help me. 2. He wouldn't even look at me. I asked my mother what was wrong with Dad, and she told me "Your Uncle Jay had a heart attack sometime last night at the terminal (he was a truck driver too), and they found him this morning. He's gone dear." I sat down and cried for what seemed like hours. When my father came down from my room, I could see he had been crying too, but he hid it well. My Uncle Jay grew up with my father, and they were best friends through school and the Air Force. The loss was something that just couldn't be put into words. I never told my parents about my dream, and never will, but that night will haunt me for the rest of my life. I have had no such feelings, perceptions, or dreams since, and I really hope I never do. plane tickets

Expedia is all I use. Convenient for me. Like going to my local travel agent. I prefer very specific airlines, and alot of the "cheaper" sites either don't give me the option, or don't carry the airlines I use. My frequent flyer account at Midwest Express dictates my choices a bit too..... It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

PlaceS. Remember, I was a long haul, over the road, car hauling, truck driver, and not your typical looking truck driver either. These are from my accumulated collection, from around the country, from over the past 6 years or so. Gotta agree too, that's some gash....... Ahhh, I remember the smell like it was yesterday..... 18. Michele, You made some very good points, but this first statement I think you mis-understood. He pays alot of rent, and I'm assuming that by the tone of his statement, that is his water heater, as in, it heats only his water, not the entire building. I would side with him here, as that IS costing him alot of $$$. While this is true to a point, the amount paid is quite usually indictive of the quality of the housing. In this case, it seems he has a malfunctioning water heater (probably a blow off valve). This water heater, be it gas or electirc, is hooked up to his meter. Every time it releases hot water out the valve, it must then work harder to make up for the cold water introduced to it. It has not been repaired or replaced as of yet. Does this sound like quality housing to you? In short, this water heater is costing him money directly, and not the landlord. If the landlord came to inspect it, he'd turn on the faucet, feel hot water, and say it works fine. He will either have to finish it off to get a new one, or be stuck paying higher utility bills. None of us (well, except for BillVon) have ever actually went skydiving. A few have tandems, some saw Terminal Velocity, and a bunch more bought the movie "Cutaway". We then conspired with the infamous yet elusive Sangiro to create this site so that the regulars on The "Wreak" would say we were just a bunch of touchy feely whiney kids that had nothing better to do than act like skydivers.
