  3. Hello I just travelled from Helsinki, Finland -> Amsterdam -> Minneapolis -> Los Angeles. Put my Cypres equipped rig in my luggage. Left it unlocked. Wrote a paper on top of the rig that if they need to open it, please ask me to come and see how they do it. Also asked not to pull any handles. Taped the Cypres x-ray card on that paper. Also told at the check-in counter in Helsinki that I am carrying a skydive rig. They didn't think it would be a problem. The airline was KLM. From A'dam the KLM flights were flown by Northwest. Had to check my luggage out upon arrival to States, in Minneapolis. Seems they didn't even open my luggage... No problems, today, jumped in Perris greetings from California
  4. Hello! I'm coming to California mid dec to mid january from Finland. I'll be living in Littlerock, Antelope valley.. I reckon the closest dropzones are Skydive California City and Taft.. also Perris and Elsinore are "close"... So.. anyone living in Palmdale/Lancaster area? Wanna give me a ride to some dz? What should I do to make skydiving possible there? Of course take my gear, my license and all that with me... I think I'll need USPA membership? Anything else? I have planned to visit Perris at least, maybe spend a week there or something... place to live? Is living in tent ok? I don't need any luxury... full power 24 hour.. no sleep no shower.. I know there is some info on dz.com and also perris website but still I feel like there's some questions left unanswered.. I just don't even know the questions Would like to check the tunnel, maybe get some coaching too... party of course also... ! If you got any info or suggestions, please tell me... Also maybe would like to go snowboarding... anyone else? gottago to work now.. tomorrow I'll check if I got any answers and maybe ask something more... Thanks in advance Jan
  5. Hello and greetings from Finland... Yes, happened here in May 2003. She did cutaway first but never deployed the reserve. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=766339#766339 Here is the translated report on the incident. There was talk about her being unconscious after the cutaway, also talk about her just not being able to grab the soft handle. After this incident, the soft reserve handles have been banned in Finland. Nobody seems to have any trouble with this regulation.. For some reason I'd like to see the video from her helmet.. for some reason I wouldn't.. We went searching for her in the forest next to the DZ.. saw the cutaway main laying there on the landing area and immediately knew who was in question... the situation felt really surreal Blue Skies Minnuliini... edit: oh.. it took me so long to type in the reply you guys already figured out a thread about this incident..
  6. Hey... What are the requirement for a participant in PST? I know the FAI rules wouldn't let you attend... minimum 500 high performance landings. Might be pretty hard to get a sponsorship if you're not able to compete
  7. Systems Normal, All Fucked Up I think the team in question is now the World Champion.... Good for them (I'm sure they deserve it), maybe not so good for other teams... EDIT... yeah... situation

  9. yeah... the loads were from 11 to 21 persons aboard... We also have two pilots in the plane.. Exit altitude was around 3300ft.. on some loads even 4000ft!!! We loaded the plane exceptionally at the beginning of the runway. The plane landed and taxied down to where we were waiting.. At the busiest airport in our country.. The tower and APP where really co-operating.. everything went really well. Refuelling after maybe each eight loads... It took around 4 minutes after the take-off for people to start popping out the door of the plane.. maybe a bit more. I jumped 14 jumps... now I feel it in my back and knees.. don't feel like doing it again tomorrow. Jumping yes, just not for 14 times
  10. Hello! Just got back from our DZ www.laskuvarjokerho.com ... 58 loads today, total 1031 exits made by around 80-100 jumpers from one twOtter (OH-SLK). Started at 9am and the last load landed at late sunset about 8.30pm. What a rush... the mission was to make 1000 jumps from our plane in one day... at first it seemed a bit tough to accomplish.. at the end it was not so hard with fellow jumpers who were committed to do it! Maybe this is some sort of world record? Greetings from Finland!!!
  11. I don't understand this... Where do you put the rubber band? And how does this help? I have had same kind problems on my ´95 Javelin.. The self-opening riser-covers have now stayed closed after I started to pull the risers really down while packing... thus making them tighter on the shoulders.
  12. This is sad... How do you think it will affect the Canopy Piloting World Cup Oct. 29 – Nov. 3... ? I'm sure the competition can be jumped, you only need a plane, the jumpers, the judges and some blades... BUT! It sure would be nice to have some facilities also... as this is supposed to be the crowd-pleasing skydive disicpline of the future... I hope everything can be done and you guys ni FL get things working again!

    Any Nail Biters?

Yeah... did it for 20 something years, from childhood as far back as I can remember... Then came the time for my first self-deployed freefall jump... Haven't been biting them since!
  15. Sounds like a J1 or J2 to me. I dont' think any rigger is crazy enough to pack a 160 reserve into an NJ! __ Yea... you're probably right. Maybe I better take a closer look at the rig I jump with everyday Jan
  16. I'd like to have an APD.... Automatic Packing Device Pretty please...
  17. Hey! You talking about Markku? Greetings from Finland...
  18. hmmm.... hmmmmm! I thought I got a Javelin NJ (DOM 95)... it's got a Sabre 170 and a PD reserve 160....... HMMM ?! Well, maybe my Javelin isn't a NJ....
  19. Hahaha.... What a crazy feeling I just got... been at work for 15h now... night and morningshift. This made me laugh . What a great movie!!! I try to sneak that flick to VCR at least once a week at our DZ... like "Wanna watch Redline?" "ummm.. what's that?!" ... "You don't know Redline or Turbo?!?!?!? Lets roll the tape..." Greetigns from Finland, Jan
  20. Ahhh the great finnish game Rekkaturvat... That sure looks like an awesome spot! Ever tried Porrasturvat (Stair dismount?) I like truck dismount so much more... Greetings from Finland, Jan
  21. Hey Flyingarab! Nice videos you got on your site... but... as I watched them, I noticed that on quite many jumps you pull the PC out, then leave it in your hand until tossing it in the air... why's that? Makes me wonder... as I don't get it...
