  1. What a boogie!!! I had soooooo good time! Jari coached a lot of new birds and had something new with him also... I didn't fly a WS in Estonia.. the nightlife interfered with my jumping activities Cool dancing on friday night Jari!!! Already looking forward for Parasummer 2006!!! Now I need to sleep...
  2. yes yes!!! see you tomorrow!!!!! Can't wait...
  3. well well.... not too far from the truth... some people spend their time inventing new things... not just playing with Photoshop let's see
  4. The PHI is out there... at least here in Finland... saw it, touched it, didn't have time to play with it... The girl who was jumping PHI said it was more "tricky" to fly than the GTi...
  5. Whoaaa... that's a nice salary... I'm gonna be a heli-pilot one day too... just have to quit jumping to get the money for the pilot training..
  6. dance naked... that's cool... but jumping naked is another thing... That's a must for midsummers boogie!!! Greetings from Finland, sunlight 24h this week
  7. Where do you see that? All I see is "2003 Cypres". Original Cypres' were available new in '03, IIRC. yeaahh.. you're probably right!! My bad... what year is it now anyway??? Honestly, as I was writing my reply I was thinking my (now sold) Cypres2 that I bought last year... thinking it was 2003 then and 2004 now I miss my cypres.. and my old Javelin... hmmm maybe a bit off-topic, sorry!
  8. Ok... so he finished.. 22h 14min 47 secs .... 96 jumps !!!!! All packed by himself. He had also said these were his last jumps... but never say never... I'd say this tops the 500+ "world record" as he really did pack himself... of course, 500+ jumps in one day is something really great too!!! Greetings from Finland, Jan
  9. seems you already have the answer... You said you're getting more for your money with the Racer... so what is the problem? The colors?!? Get real... You wont see your container anyway once it's on your back.. Also think about the cypres thing... the one on Racer is Cypres2 and the other isn't. There's some interesting things you have to consider.. about the maintenance and all...
  10. let's see... as I told you Antti in Finland is packing himself... Hat's off!
  11. Hey! What's the current record? As unofficial as they are... at the moment this one guy in Finland is doing his best... jump number 83 going on... He still has about 5 hours to go... and guess what... he's packing by himself
  12. I didn't find the toilets to be in bad condition when I visited Perris for the new years... this january.. Both in the bunkhouse or the "public restrooms".. very good. What do you actually do in there? I go in there and get out after I've done my thing... Preferably before the fluorescent-tube has blinked though it's start-up sequence I read my copy of Skydiving in my trailer...
  13. Heyyyy I was honestly saying I really miss Perris... I guess you weren't really replying to me but just wanted to make sure... I've been there only once... and the only bad thing I can think of is that I got to stay there for only 5 days Hope to get back there again, maybe already this year!!!
  14. Hejssan Ankie! No problem... as I'm buying used always I really don't get to choose my rig desing too much Did my student jumps in Wings... got Javelins... now I jump Vector III... Maybe I'll have to consult Hena this summer in case I happen to see him in DZ Hanko Finland... would like to get a rig measured for me finally...
  15. oh maaan..... That picture makes me miss Perris soooo much
  16. No matter what other people say, I think this has got to be one of the nicest looking rigs I've seen.. How much did Sunrise charge extra for that design?
  17. well well... thanks! For some reason I've been reading this WS forum after last weekend... just sent e-mail to Birdman Jussi and asked some questions... let's see... Guess you were right Mare... it probably was a "thousand dollar jump"
  18. During the mid to late nineties, if the Sabre was not the most popular canopy around, it was definitely in the running. Everybody seemed to have one back then. Everybody still seems to have one... and why not? It's a good allround canopy...
  19. And these kind of incidents are more frequent with some certain type of canopies. Why, oh why? Terve vaan Lappeenrantaan!
  20. I don't think a Crossfire would be a good canopy for someone who's just got off student gear... Here in Finland it's not even allowed to jump this kind of "high performance" canopy before you have 250 jumps... Also, by making mistakes when packing a xfire (slider not all the way up for example) you can/will get a hard opening... correct me if I'm wrong... Still I think there's no use to get rid of old Sabre... Get used to packing it the right way. I'm not scared opening my Sabre... Really.. I don't get your comment on aorta thingy.. You suggest that Sabres are life-threatening... I guess that's the most popular canopy at the moment.. again, correct me if I'm wrong...
  21. I jump a sabre 150 DOM 91... before this I jumped a sabre 170 made in the same year. Yes.. I know it can open a bit hard but it can also be avoided... Pack it 50 times, see what's going on when it opens.. how long it takes, what shape, what is the slider doing etc etc... explore new ways of packing it... (of course try to follow the manufacturers packing instructions!!!) After jumping 240 or so jumps with a Sabre it doesn't surprise me anymore.. (knock on wood though ) Pro pack... When you make "a star" of the slider between the linegroups, pull the side of the slider closest to you out. Make it kind of a pocket so that it'll grab air the most.. before I lay it on the ground I roll the tail of the canopy.. say 6-9 times, very tight. Then... this might sound crazy... I change to trash-pack... I don't make the S-folds very neatly... I make em but don't spend more than 30 secs doing it. Also when I stash it into the d-bag, I won't be using a lot of time to make it very even and the stiches aligned... Seems that the worse I pack it, the softer it opens... wouldn't deploy below 500m (1700ft?) though if I packed like this... So it takes maybe 100-150 meters to open and fly, but it's nice to be able to look at it open instead of noticing it's already open Stowing the lines... I stow the locking bands/tubes quite tight... there's enough drag to open the bands if your pilot chute is in good condition. The rest of the bands I don't do really tight. Having the "locking stows" tight prevents line dump. Anyway, I'm not a rigger nor instructor... just jumped a sabre quite a many times and think I know what's going on with mine.. explore, try, learn, enjoy your openings
  22. wish I was back in Bombshelter... not a boring place at all! after couple of coronas.. couple of GT's... and watching people fly in the tunnel... it's already evening and there are lots of more people there to chat with... I hope to get back there again this year...
  23. Cool! Just when I'm packing my gear to head back to Finland Would've been fun to jump the new lift!
