    Apple iporn

And let's not forget the iWipe http://techrepublic.com.com/2300-10877_11-5955727-12.html The above jest is a case of laughing with Apple, and not at them. I currently have a PowerBook and think it's a terrific machine. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  2. Yeah, to pay for the investigation, they've gotta get rid of all those planes and DZs they "own". Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  3. Man every year for the past four years, it's the same thread. I post that I'm coming, and get summarily ignored Let's just clear this up: Oh, by the way, Skratch is "skr" on this forum. Oh, one last thing!! Colorado peeps - if you're still undecided about coming, flights from Denver to Pheoniz from Dec 26th to Jan 2nd are running $200. That's cheaper than bus fare. Frontier has a deal that sold out this weekend for $200, but America West is $210 with one stop (probably Las Vegas). Of course, if you don't mind your planes being serviced in Honduras ... 6. Telling someone - maybe The ACT of skydiving sure doesn't make you sexier. Femur. Other broken bones. Smell like jet fuel. Skin all dry and wrinkly from exposure. Various cuts, bruises and scars. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

  8. In my defense, this was three years after I left LockMart Astronautics I had nothin' to do with it. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  9. I was in Fiji a few weeks ago for SCUBA diving. I was surprised to see a DZ there in Nadi - it looks like it's run by some ozzies. I went into the storefront in Nadi and asked some questions. The kids working there didn't seem to know much other than the pricelist and taking money. It looked like a tandem DZ from the brochure but I was wondering if they take experienced jumpers. Conversation went like this: "What kind of plane do you jump out of?" Don't know. "Do you take experienced jumpers, or just tandems?" Don't know. "Where do you jump?" Don't know. "You work here, don't you?" You'll have to call them to get these answers. Here's the website: http://www.skydivefiji.com.fj/about.htm Looks like a Cessna tandem factory. Probably not a big market for experienced jumpers, but just wondering if I could take my rig on the next trip Anyone know these owners or this outfit? Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  10. It's your stupid fault we started using them in the first place. English units are the Herpes Simplex of the measurement world. Once you have them, they're impossible to get rid of. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  11. I don't think I've met many instructors that truly think they know it all. I've met plenty that refuse to adapt to new situations, and that can be just as dangerous. I think it's close, but I think there will always be new situations that no one has ever seen. Kinda keeps this an exciting activity.

    AFFI

You can't substitute, you need six hours of FF. However, some course directors will allow 5 hours of FF to take the AFFI course. But you can't get the rating, even after passing the course, until you have the six hours. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

  14. Right there with ya! Weeks like this make me hate Colorado. Good thing is I work from home, so I don't have to venture outside as long as I have food inside. But even the walls of my house are cold. And no jumping today!!! Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

  18. Kind of a broad question, Rev. I think too broad to make a categorical yes/no answer. Have a specific scenario in mind? Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

    HOW COLD

Yesterday in Denver, the high was 2 degrees F, low was -11 F. For you European types, that's a high of -16C, and a low of -24C. I went outside once, and my eyeballs hurt The last week has been unusually cold for Colorado. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  22. Great news Katee! Coaching is fun work, and I'm sure you'll have a great time. Plus you'll get the added advantage of starting to work with pre-A license students. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  23. Send me your phone number - I'd love to hear this Really, it's not bad - the Caller ID always says "Disabled American Veterans", so I don't answer. And it's a recording on the other end, so cursing at them doesn't do much good. But I hate the interruption with the phone ringing that I have to go check it, then wait a few minutes for them to finish spewing into my voice mail so that I can then call the voice mail and delete the message. 24. Sometimes 800 numbers, sometimes local callers. You would think these would be easy to track down, right? Well, I haven't had any luck. My phone company is Vonage They just now introduced local 7-digit dialing, and they don't offer call blocking anymore. My guess is they can't help much, except offer to change my phone number.
