Not everyone updates with the manufacturer's, nor do I think they offer that service, Mark K? at UPT do you guys do this?? But almost everyone I know of makes a notation on stolen gear and or where the gear was sold and who the original purchaser was! This information is invaluable as to size and if everyone who bought or wanted to check might just save some individuals a lot of pain and cash! Last I spoke with PD they indicated this was a bit of a pain, but they were always "glad to help." And they added they wish more would follow suit! Most all of the manufacturers that I have spoken with will provide this service, they just don't want ot freely give out the original purchasers private information. When you tell them why you want to check they all have indicated they want to help prevent theft and fraud as much as anyone else. I have checked out a number of containers and canopies on DZ.com doing just this and have felt all the more comfortable making on-line purchases. But this does take a bit of effort to do this and not many do? Many times I can find the original store and they know exactly who is selling what. I always verify in this mannar if I can't get the seller to use an escrow service! In fact at this point if the seller won't escrow via one of the established stores I won't buy from them period, just not worth the risk. The only negative thing is that in many areas of the U S, there are not a lot of nearby skydiving equipment stores! Perhaps more jumpers should report private sales to the manufacturers, they seem to be in the best position to keep records, regardless of this being a pain or not?? C

The papers and such are full of arrests in CA with "helpers" being charged with unlawful detention and assalt charges, many store detectivs are charged with this esp if they detain some shoplifter outside of the store! To his brother in law who own's a used car establishment. This guy has his ex wife working for the city clerks office, and she is considered a no-show employee. His current wife works also in city hall in another no-show position! (What the fuck kind of harem is this cock running.?) He is being indited for campagin fraud by the Massachusettess Attorney Geneeral. He speaks really bad english, and the local colony of illegal ailens is what keeps him in office. Where surprise he promis's aid to the poor and needy. Meanwhile this city has the highest per cap murder and assult rate, the highest unemployment rate, the highest auto theft, the poorest police and fire response rates, the state has taken over the local school system, property values have experienced the highest rate of decline of total new England communities, the bank restoration act and community development have the higest first year default rates, ( an effort to stem the effects of "red lining" , backfired, ) and the list goes on and on... In short, the social effects of a corrupt welfare sytem pandering to illegal aliens has turned this community to a shit hole that isn't safe to live in. And now local legislators have relaxed the requirments to obtain a drivers license in order to reduce the number of uninsured uninspected and unregesterd vehicles owned and operated by illegial aliens in this community! Additionally surrounding communities have 24 / 7 posted patrols at their respective city lines and the state police have stripped local highway enforcment to place unmarked cars in this community to protect the surrounding communities from Lawrence. The DEA and ICE maintain a local office. And on top of everything else the City, at the mayors insistance, runs 47 private "drinking Clubs," that the local police refere to as insane! As something like 80 percent of police calls come from these same drinking clubs! The Mayor recently installed electronic parking meters control system, and this requires 15 full time, MINORITY workers to write tickets, that because of the cost will never pay for itself! As compared with regular parking meters! And again, English spoken (guarenteed) tues and thursdays in city hall. (From a sign posted in the clerks office!) All true! This place is an example for the rest of the country! And the real poor and needy, injured and disabled??? They moved! Couldn't get services... That's not entirely correct... what is being sold is the right to collect on the debt, not the actual debt. My 2 cents is to not deal with any collection agency, you have no rights whatsoever! They are under no obligation to you whatsoever! If you want to settle a medical bill then deal with the original source directly, and everything in writing including your inital letter to them indicating that you wish "them to explain" this debt in the first place! Admit nothing in your correspondence. Many places will then indicate that you will have to deal with a collection agency at this point, if this is the case, get them to put this in writing. At this point yor obligation is over under the FCRA laws. And you are the victim of the scam artists. I can't say this strongly enough: Only deal with the original source. Collection agencies are the new mafia, many of them operate outside of the law and use illegial coercive methods. The problem is that they fully understand that most people don't understand the law. This really does tweak what is considered a lawful order as compared with what isn't. Being in the military, I really don't give a rats ass about this issue. With the free exchange of information that exsists today everyone knows what everyone else has or does anyways! So the free exchange of litrature dosen't amount to crap! Anyone with a written procedure for observer, jump rides, and or any non- pilot in the unused right seat? I've noticed widly varying policies, some downright draconian, some very, perhaps too loose about giving rides. On one hand the same sort of situation exsists for any aircraft pilot giving rides to the geneeral public... EX: Some stories about feet gettin under the rudder pedals, too fat and can't pull the yolk full travel, obliovulsly intoxicated, poor health, etc But other DZ's very open, escort by hand (PERIOD) quick briefing etc... Have some places gone too far by not allowing ride alongs based solely on the prop strike example??? How many skydivers have actaully sat up front and seen and listen to the multiple events takeing place. Most that I have spoken with walk away with a deeper understanding and many have said something like: O'H shit, I had no idea,... Many have indicated how helpless they feel if something were to happen...! Anyways I'm in the ride along camp, I enjoy the view and a second set of eyes, esp trained eyes, are a great piece of mind to me! Never mind the fact that a ride along can assist if / when ever needed. This comes from both sides of the fence so to speak. I will add as a jumper I am extreeemly cognizant of moving around with my container, it dosen't take much to rip out a switch for example, where as most skydivers don't seem to understand this. I mean just constantly face forward as you move out of the front seat area, don't try to turn around! (As an example.) C any other thoughts?? When I mentioned escort by hand, I mean this literally all non-pilots, observers, passengers get boarded via the exit door or are held by hand. Any body have any info or experience using something other than Lime to mark lines? I want to mark up the field and have some concerns about the nylon being dragged thru lime.
