First talk to the neighbor and let them know what's going on. Give them a chance to fix the problem. Call animal control and complain. Most of the time if they get a few complaints they will go out and pay a visit and then start writing them tickets. You can make your lawn unappealing by sprinkling "Repel" on it. It's a citrus based granule that is offensive to dogs... he'll go poop somewhere else. You can buy it at any major pet supply store. In my experience, citronella bark collars rarely work for the long term. There is an anti-bark device you can buy and set up on your own property to discourage barking if all else fails.

I apologize. My post was not received in the way I intended it. I certainly do not hate people that are over weight and make no claim of being perfect. Not by a long shot! I do realize that many people struggle with eating disorders and other issues. The people I was referring to are proud of being really unhealthy and do everything they can to convince others that their way of life is great.

I think I prefer the hiders. I used to have a number of "supersized" people working for me. They always brought bags of chips and cookies to work every day. During the course of an 8 hour shift one lady would finish off an entire bag all by herself. That was, of course, in addition to the "extra value" meal for breakfast and lunch. I suppose it was good for me though. Watching them eat all day was a great appetite suppressant.

I would strongly encourage both of you to research all the attributes of a breed before deciding on one. There are lots of wonderful breeds to choose from! If your financial situation is less than ideal, I would suggest that you wait to get any dog. The average dog costs about $1400 per year to own (not including the cost of the dog.) A high maintenance breed will be much, much higher than that. What would your GF do if the Bulldog needs a hip replacement? The breed ranks #1 in hip dysplasia. They're wonderful dogs, but they aren't ideal for everyone.

If they outcrossed a Bullmastiff and a Bulldog they'd get a much larger dog to sell as an Olde English. A lot of puppy mills and backyard breeders do such things for profit. Hell, they even sell "registered" Cockapoo's and such as a bonafide "breed". The weight ranges I listed are what is standard for the breed. A well bred dog should closely match the breed standard. With all breeds there can be quite a lot of variation depending on the quality of the breeding.

The Olde English Bulldogge' foundation stock was 50% Bulldog combined with 50% (in equal measure) Bullmastiff, American Pit Bull Terrier and two bulldog variations. They are no longer outcrossed with other breeds. A genuine Olde English can be traced back to the foundation stock and are from Olde English parents. Many profit oriented breeders outcross and then sell the puppy as an Olde English, which it is not. They weigh 50-90lbs as compared with a Bulldog at 45-60 lbs.

FYI- Bulldogs are one of the most expensive breeds to own. The initial cost of a puppy is very high and the cost to care for one is also very high as even the well bred ones often have serious, chronic health problems. You may want to consider a Bulldog rescue. The adoption fee is minimal and you get a wonderful pet and the knowledge that you've given a great dog a new start. Members of the breed are all simply called Bulldogs. However, the Olde English Bulldogge is different. They were developed in the 1970s, as a recreation of the 18th-century bulldog. I couldn't disagree with you more. A CEO has the ability to lead the company to billions in revenues or losses. The majority of senior executives have a reasonable salary with an incentive program. The more money the company makes, the more they make. The more money the company makes, the more my stock value increases and the more money I make.

I was very amused that NASCAR announced the entry of Toyota into the 2007 field the same day Ford announced 30,000 jobs cut in four plants. No, I don't follow NASCAR and don't plan to. It was an interesting piece of business news for the American auto market, though. I also found Ford's CEO's comments somewhat hopeful. In addition to cutting manufacturing jobs they are increasing R&D to come up with new vehicles that Americans want to buy. What a concept! What do YOU think?
