  1. That's kinda what I was afraid of. I was hoping there might be a way to tap into the electrical system through an already existing fuse box or something... I was hoping that I could atleast do the speakers and head myself, but just taking a quick look under the dash of my car revealed more wires than I can count... Anyone know of a good place to get it installed professionally? Is it going to be expensive? I got a great deal on the equipment, but I don't wanna pay a lot of money to get it installed...
  2. Welp, I've decided to upgrade the stereo in my Jeep GC. My current aftermarket head has stopped accepting CDs, so I thought I might as well upgrade the whole system. I am adding: a Sony head (cd/mp3), 4 speakers, 1 amp. I'm not really worried about the head or the speakers, I think I can handle that much. However, I am concerned about wiring the amp correctly. My stuff hasn't arrived yet, but I have some general questions. From the stuff I have read, it seems that most people power their amp straight from the battery. That is going to get ugly and a lot of work, is there another way I can tap into the electrical system without adding another pair of terminals on the battery? I've found some scattered resources on the net, but nothing really great. If anyone can help, (or better yet, has experience on a 1995 Jeep GC) please let me know.
  3. I have a Wings W-13 with a PD160 (white) and a Cobalt 170. The fit is perfect, and I could see how it would be very tough getting a PD176 in there. What model main do you have? There is a guy I know that had a new FC main (Sentry maybe) in his W-13 that had a huge pack volume. His was so bad that the main grommets didn't even come close to lining up (with a rigger set closing loop length). I think if your main and reserve pins can be pulled at the appropriate pull strengths, and your main grommets line up decently, then its not a problem.
  4. why skydiving is better than sex: smaller equipment is better..
  5. On Tuesday, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said a post-Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq would be able to pay for some of the rebuilding and humanitarian needs itself, using assets currently frozen by the United Nations due to the 1991 Gulf War, as well revenues from oil sales. Hrmmm... kinda says it all...
  6. I mean, after the initial RC injury. Like after the first time you hurt your RC, did you allow it to recover, or did you do those 33 jumps right after the incident?
  7. Did you allow for healing time? Or do any physical therapy? Just curious if you were jumping the week after your injury or if you waited several months after therapy....
  8. I decided to pop my reserve since it's overdue for a repack anyways. Since I had my crappy camera handy, I video taped the PC launching off my back. Just thought I'd share incase anyone was interested in seeing it as well. The main was packed and still in the container, so the reserve freebag never left my back. Enjoy. Btw, its a Wings container. Sorry for the excessive file size. I tried just about every compression Premiere has available, and still cant get it low enough with decent quality, if anyone wants to give me suggestions on dv encoding/compression, please do. ftp://ftp.skydivingmovies.com/UPLOADS/pclaunch.avi

There are 5 primary oil companies in the world. 2 are based in the US, 2 are in the UK, and one in France. The world's larget oil company is Exxon Mobil, obviously based in the US. Some speculate that Iraq has the potential of holding 250 billion barrels of oil. Now.. if US overthrows Saddam, what will happen next? The US will call it a liberation, and a flood of western (oil) companies will be called into the region. Who gets first priority over these oil fields? Well, ofcourse the US and UK's companies. And with Exxon being so large, its going to dominate the oil fields there since it has large capital investments to make. Other countries, such as Russia (which bases Lukoil) will have a considerable size investment in Iraq, but no where near what the US and UK will have. Russia might only have 10% of the sales the US will have gained if they take over the oil fields in Iraq. Not sure if I directly answered your question, so here goes again. What happens if the US invades? The US will control the vast majority of the oil fields, and the other countries might not get any. The US wins BIG time. What happens if the US doesn't invade? The other countries might get a decent size share of the oil market, and the US will get virtually nothing since US companies don't (legally/officially) do business with Iraq. The US loses. For the rest of the world (everyone but US/UK), they stand better off if the US doesn't invade. And since Saddam isn't as big of a threat to them either, why should they support a war? Interesting thing I found from Fortune.com: But then, change is a constant in the Global 500. In 1995 the four biggest companies on the list were Japanese--Mitsubishi, Mitsui, Itochu, and Sumitomo--as were six of the top ten. Exxon, GM, and GE from the U.S. and Royal Dutch/Shell from Europe filled out the rest of the top positions. This year only one Japanese company, Toyota, makes the cut. There are three European companies (BP, Royal Dutch/Shell, and DaimlerChrysler) and six from the U.S. In a reversal of fortune, the top three positions are held by American firms--Wal-Mart, Exxon Mobil, and General Motors. ------ With that many oil companies in the top 10 businesses in the country and Europe, it might change your perspective of who really has the power.

I think the US has a lot more to gain than Russia, France or Germany has to lose. I think your statement fails to show both sides of the money issue. Also, North Korea poses a much larger threat to the world, since it has publicly declared it has nuclear technology. It also has weapons which have a larger range than Iraq. However, what does the US have to gain by attacking North Korea? Not much. They have nothing that we want. No natural resources, no capital stock. Iraq is weaker in all of these respects except one, oil. Saddam poses no greater threat than North Korea, and is in fact, much weaker.
  13. Just a fun site that has songs ranging from Britney Spears to Queen. http://www.dictionaraoke.org/ I think the name says it all. And for more of your dictionary needs, there is always http://www.urbandictionary.com/.. Ever wanted to know what felphplurbin means? Now you know... Enjoy
  14. >>Are they for real? Can you really see that much light from space? Yes and no. This picture is a computer generated composite from hundreds if not thousands of other satellite images that were actually taken of the earth at night. With the right conditions and exposure, it is very possible to see the light from the city in the picture. Your mightly only see a bright speck for a large city like New York at night with your naked eyes if you are in low earth orbit.
  15. damnit.. I wish I had cable... high speed internet but no cable tv.. go figure..
  16. Sorry, my dog still wins... She's been posted before, but she's so damn cute she deserves another post. First picture didn't focus/meter on the correct subject, but it's still a neat picture. The second is her begging for more cream to lick from the bowl.
  17. Know your rights. You have a right to request the last calibration of the radar/speed detection device. You have the right to request the last marksmanship report of the officer who used the device on you (after all, they have to be able to pick your car out on a busy street). You have rights to request other documents. If any of these documents are not provided, are not current, or the officer doesn't report to court to argue the county's side, then the judge will throw out the case. It's not a sure fire way to beat the fine, but you can't let a system that doesn't uphold their side win either.

  19. -Over P.A. you hear, "Heh, heh, heh, this plane sucks, heh, heh, heh" -You're at 40,000 feet and the co-pilot and the pilot are both eating chips and watching the in-flight movie.
  20. >>trust me if you got the letters...any defense plant is hiring! Hehe! Yea right... not on the engineering side. All of that defense money is going into procurement and construction, not research and development. The good news for AE's is that the average age of an AE is like 45.. with about 25% of the workforce ready to retire in the next 4-5 years... Yes.. the AE market is oversaturated, but there will be jobs opening up in the near future.
  21. Nah, I prefer voice activated.. that's the way of the future.

  23. A brand spankin' new Bev suit. Took about 3 days to make. E-mailed my order last Sunday, suit shipped out Tuesday night, would have gotten it Thursday but the UPS guy's aren't very smart. Anyways, I'm happy. Pics attached. Top notch service and quality from Bev, I highly recommend. (3 days!!, even though I did request "double rush" for 40$, not bad compared to Tony's 75$ for 10 business days).
  24. I got my new Bev suit today. Took a whole 3 days to make. Anyways, since I was going to take a few pics of the suit, I thought I would throw on my bonehead boomerang and take a few more. Pictures didn't turn out that well, but they aren't bad. I will also add a few comments about the boomerang. I think its a good helmet. It's very light, and very comfortable. Vision is excellent, and the internal audible compartment has its ups and downs. You don't have to worry about your audible getting knocked off, but the big lump makes it look weird. It does fog easily. I ended up drilling another row of holes in the bottom of the face shield. Helps a bit, but since there was no airflow when I was taking these pics, I was foggin up pretty bad. I'm trying to locate some anti-scratch anti-fog coated polycarb and making my own new lens. I kinda located a few suppliers, but I'm not sure if they can get me the small amount I need. If anyone else wants to help me in this pursuit, please do. The faceshield is also permanently fixed, so you don't have the luxury of flipping it up during the plane ride, but at the same time, you dont have to worry about it coming open during the jump. The lens is good strong polycarb that can take a good beating before it will fail, unlike some other helmets that have a thin flexible plastic sheet that just keeps the wind off your face. I wish it had a ventilation port over the mouth so that my hot breath will be directed forward and out, instead of back inside the helmet. Other than that, its a good helmet, and I would recommend it.
