Sure its reasonable. I have done 10 jumps days there several times. Several things will help. Good sleep the night before. Eat breakfast..so that means get up early. Have food and drink planned out for the day. Be on the first load. Manifest for your next jump as soon as you get back down before packing. Make sure you can make your next load. Pack like a motherf@$^er. Be committed. Now if you have 2 rigs and a packer...its easy. Buddie of mine won the 1st FF festival there years back and won a free day of jumping. He used 2 rigs and made 23 jumps. He was beat to shit at the end of the day. And last but not least, know your limits. Dont keep jumpin just because there is light if you are trashed. Many a day that I got maxed out and knew that I wouldnt be gettin much out of the rest of the day. So I just started drinkin early.

Oh dear...all of a sudden I feel the desire to reach for my Digi Rebel..... As payback....

People pirate for several reasons.... As far as them being cheap? Hell no. They are not cheap. Full length feature films that cost MILLIONS of dollars to make are cheaper to buy in DVD format than almost every skydiving movie out there. Just to give you an idea, the best selling DVD right now is a Harry Pooter flick and is only 20 bucks. For that, why dont you go get yourself a copy of Breakaway or GroundRush instead? No? Oh comeon!! I bought Good Stuff and it was worth every stinkin penny. It was long, and very entertaing. I reccomend it to every skydiver to have in his/her collection. Conversely, I have Out of the Blue, and feel that I got totally jacked out of my 50 bucks for a flick that is merely 30 minutes long. I was so disappointed that I tried to get my cash back.......no luck. As with everything, lower the price to a reasonable level, the problem will for the most part go away. By the way, cheap is relative to each person.

Do women dzcommers get more proxy errors than the men?
jose replied to sunshine's topic in The Bonfire
Its only a personal attact if he takes it personally, but since hes my Canadian homie, I doubt the cheese boy will mind.......I'm sure he appreciates your concern though. And if he does mind.....I'll just take his shoes off in freefall.......again. Edit to add: Its amazing how some of you people have no concept of sarcasm here. Really, do some looking at the profiles before you start pointing your little finger of Jesus. Flyangel got it......... -
Do women dzcommers get more proxy errors than the men?
jose replied to sunshine's topic in The Bonfire
Oh crap....don't accept his apologies....he's an asshole. A Canadian asshole to boot. All women here should carry out a virtual ass kicking of Chachi for waving his (albeit small) penis. carry on.... -
Yeah, that sounds super to me too.

You shoulda used brighter colors.....

Pay a packer for the next 75-100 jumps. No, seriously, find out if you can psycho pack it. The rolling part of the psycho pack makes it real easy to bag an unyieldy slippery monster of 210 sq ft. Or you could downsize to a 119 and have no problems at all.

If there is no video, it didn't happen. Prove it.

1st Annual M.O.A.B. Boogie! Mother Of All Boogies
jose replied to clint's topic in Events & Places to Jump
QuoteAny comments about the MOAB Boogie would be great. What can we do better for next year?Quote Hey Clint. I would love to see daily, or at least more than one load to the Red Cliffs Lodge. However that needs to be worked out.....would be awesome. Being the first boogie, and not expecting so many jumpers the staff got overwhelmed quite quickly. Assuming that there will be more next year, your gonna need more manpower for activities such as gear checks, tix purchases, bonfire organizing ect. Redeye can only do so much...and hes Redeye after all.. It would be cool to have an organized after event at the Moab Brewery....I can just see all of us taking over the whole place....how cool would that be. And have a big screen with vids on it just like on Sat night at the fire. Swoop course/landing area for experienced jumpers only, ie 500+ jumps or such. There were a couple close calls with old schoolers that didnt give 2 shits about the landing pattern, and almost took my bro and I out because he wanted to land into the wind. Swoop and chug. Space ball races. 1 more organizer. Of course, if none of these happened, I would still be there next year! I had a blast, so please people, don't think it wasn't kick ass. The first year is always an experiment, and this was definetly a sucess. Thanks Clint, Shelly, TJ and Mom. -
Sure, I'd do it again. Both.

Totally agreed Phreezone, blunt is the only way it should be. But I find it interesting that none of the post that are of reality are replied to..... kinda like no one new either wants to hear that side of the sport, or just doesn't believe it, due to the new viel of gravity. The reality of it all is that you will put more effort into your endeavor than any possible benefit that comes of it. In fact, I believe mass or spam type advertising for skydiving creates more of a liability that we, the skydiving industry, don't need. I really don't believe that 99% of people that are in the sport are here because the sport found them, its because they went looking for the sport. Not literally, but figuratively.

Funny shit.......did ya land it?

My bro sank down on the right front of my canopy and it completely folded under. A quick 180 and all was fine. I attribute the quick recovery to the airlocked design.
-
Ya big pussy. Where were ya for the Moab Boogie? Jim and I hooked up and did a bunch of jumps with JT.....good times. Nice swoop alti too.

I owned the Lotus 2 135 for around 200 jumps. There are definite advantages to an airlock as compared to a normal ram air canopy without an internal closing cell. The technology is really simple, if there is a lower air pressure outside of the cell, a flap that is sewn along the sides and bottom of the cell will flap up to the top of the cell, thus closing the cell and "trapping" air within the cell. This will help in several situations, such as side winds, and turbulence at non-critical altitudes, but it will not help you in situations such as vorticies and dustdevils. The last two still have the ability to twist you up and send you to the ground with a fully inflated canopy, regardless of airlocks. I have been able to collapse my Lotus with considerable effort, and I do not advocate it to anyone that is not willing to accept the possiblity of a chop. Without taking wraps on my brakes, I wasnt able to collapse it, but it did bow tie alot and it was unmanageable. After taking several wraps, at 10,000' AGL I was able to collapse it. It was different than any other canopy in the way it reinflated due to the fact that I had scrubbed all of my forward speed to get it to collapse, so it seemed to take a bit longer to reinflate (read sphincter factor here). All in all, I believe in the airlock system. The technology has proven itself to me several times, and perhaps proven itself when I didnt even know it was. The only reason I dont jump one now is because the dont open like a Xfire does. And if it means anything to you, the Lotus flies like a dream with many many many line twists. I am an expert on the Lotus Twist.....its my own manouver that others dont seem to want to try..... The second pic is from when my brother dropped down on the end of my canopy. See how its still fully inflated? All that happened is I made a very fast diving turn to the right and it was normal again. I can honestly say that if I was under my Xfire and that happened, that side would have collapsed and probably spun me up.

Here are a couple interesting openings......tubes can be "fun". Can you figure out the last one?

Maybe if you stop smokin all that weed, you can afford the beer that you are obligated to buy.... Damn, thats gotta sting....

That has got to be one of the most lame, retarted, ignorant statements that I have ever read. Its Individuals that think like this that are at the root of the problem. Somehow your twisted opinion of what is right and wrong, no matter what the societal and legal census, becomes self rationalizing. No matter the drug, legal or not.........

Of course ego's exist. They exist in every discipline of skydiving that there is. There are freeflying skygods that wont talk, or jump with anyone that isn't as good or better than they are..... There are RW skygods who think they own the whole fucking plane everytime they are in it...... There are swooping skygods that believe that EVERYONE needs to look out for him and he owns the landing area..... There are BASE gods that talk shit about the DZ people and will ignore/shun you when you attempt to get into the BASE scene..... It's not a discipline attitude, its a personality that eminates from those that forgot what it was like when they were new and didn't know shit. Now that the person thinks he knows enough, his/her arrogance will show itself. As far as the opinion of skygods being freeflyers and swoopers only, that's complete bullshit. It all depends on what side your on. I am into the swooping and freeflying stuff, so of course, I have more friends and understandings of such. Because I don't participate in RW much, I percieve the attitude that we are talking about to be more on the RW side. Not necessarily to myself, but to the discipline as a whole. In fact I know one girl who comes to our DZ once in a while from another DZ and is a total and complete fucking bitch to everyone not in her group, especially on the plane where the vibe needs, and usually is, the greatest except when her ass is on it. Now this doesn't make RW people skygods, it makes her one. Basically, its all about mutual respect for others, no matter what they are doing. Never pass judgement on things and actions that you yourself would not participate in. Even if you think it was stupid, as your lack of education in the matter would cloud such, accept it and them for what it is......progression. (as far as freeflying and swooping is concerned) And regardless of how long you have been in the sport as a RW guy, the hyper and loud freeflers/swoopers are who they are. That portion of the sport will not go away, it is the future. Learn to accept our differences and try not to let our enthusiasm jade your thoughts about who we are as individuals. Hell, you might even learn something from our crazy asses......
