Reserve wingload personal limits for HP canopy pilots
jose replied to jose's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I can appreciate your attitude. Good for you for having that thought process. I would however like to see your rig. You must look like the hunchback of Notre Dame with it on.... -
I really wasn't under the same impression of the SUV and Mini-cooper thing, as I was only talking about 7ci. Perhaps I will refrain from asking such questions on the internet, as most answers have an "you idiot" aura about them. Whatever.

Perhaps I should have done this after I was done. Oh yeah....

Reserve wingload personal limits for HP canopy pilots

Perhaps you should have paid more attention to the instructor. Especially on your first jump. -
Jankie, What I am specifically looking for is the ci volume of the reserve tray. I'll tell you why. The smart reserves are such the like as 110 and 120. The PD reserves are 113 and 126. PD doesnt have ci data on their website, but Aerodyne does. The 120 is 293 ci and I want to know if that will fit inside the W-2 container. I understand that it will be tight, but is it possible? Maybe sew the tray slightly further down? Can you guys do somethin like that? Also, could you guys PLEASE put some techical info on your site, it would really help.

Reserve wingload personal limits for HP canopy pilots

If you look at the statistics from unconscious landings, the fatalities asscociated with them is from head injuries. It doens't matter how limp you are, your brain is going to smack the inside of your skull when your face smashes the pavement. The rest of your body might be fine...but you'll still be dead. -
So, I WAS planning on competing in Amy's Freefly Money Meet this year, but conflicting vacation schedules have nixed that. Are there any other events on the west coast or mountain range that are like the Freefly Money Meet? Im looking for an event that has a category for guys like myself in the 500 jump number range, so Im thinking intermediate freeflying here. Anyone....anyone?

Damn, many hundred jumps from now, you coulda swooped the water hazards! I had a suit come undone when I had 80 jumps. It did the same thing....seriously unstable and flipping around. Going to your back was a good idea to get stable again.....just pitch as soon as you go back to belly so it doesnt happen again (unstable part that is).

Reserve wingload personal limits for HP canopy pilots

So after the thread in gear and rigging regarding Smart reserves, I did some research. One poster had a high wingload and caught some flack, (imagine that here on DZ.com eh?) and this left me wondering about accepted reserve wingloads. The research led me to one particular jumper that has 1400+ jumps that jumps a 126 and weighs 220 out the door. THATS 1.78!!!!!!! Holy shit dude?!?!?! I already know that this wingload practically violates all max ratings of that PD product, but most any jumpers personal risk factor by a long shot. So, with that tid bit said, my question is... how much is accepted over the reccomendations? I dont mean the technical data from the manufacturer, but the limits that we as HP canopy pilots set for ourselves. Is it really normal to have a smaller reserve than main? Does your choice reflect your competence as a pilot with your main, ie HP landings every jump with 500+ jumps or something like that? Yanko -
Wings states that the W-2 is for the PD113. Where did you get your info from?
-
Anyone know what the ci is for a W-2 reserve tray?
-
Hey, anyone know what the reserve pack volume is for a Wings W-2? Their site sucks for technical data.

...where everything costs more than any other boogie in the US and idiot stunts like low pull contests are considered part of the "show". Great boogie if your rich and dont much care for safety.
-
Amen to that........jerking seemed to always put me off and get me thru the tough times...... Uh...wait........are we talking about the same thing? My bad.
-
I dunno why, but this just strikes me funny. Then again, I do derive a large amount of enjoyment from making my friends phones in a different language and not telling them.
-
Yup, no website, and phone is gone. Whatever.

Main diff? 37 mm lens. Bigger lens, more light. More light, better vid with better colors. Is it worth it? Dunno, what do you plan on doing with your vid? How particular are you with having the "best"? There's a reason that they are more $$, cause it is a better camera. The 109 is made for that stupid dock that you have to put it in for firewire and stuff. Hassle. The 120 has 1.5 mp pictures, but if your using it only for skydiving, that really doesnt apply.

And women wonder why guys get the "wrong" impression. Newtons 3rd law applies to more than just motion. So if equal and opposite reactions are standard even in human conduct we should expect them to show up regularly in social life and with some degree of predictability. Just a thought!
-
Your kidding me.... The guy is just up and dropping the Arrow Dynamics Helmets altogether?
-
Its not a huge deal, nor awesome flying, but hey.....its still 2nd place. The vid was based off a shitload of video shot by all the flyers at our DZ and the Boogies that we visited thruought the last year. I was fortunate enough to have a good amount of my vid and flying in there. Check it out. http://homepage.mac.com/cameraflyer/iMovieTheater19.html

Clint, Hey dude. I agree with the poster above me. The ratchet deal is a (temporary) option that if used regularly, will break. The points of the helmet that are down by your chin are usually too close together and are very uncomfortable. At least mine was. I sold it and bought the Hawkeye from Arrow Dynamics with the chin cup. It is very comfortable and fits very well. Its the one I was wearing at the boogie. You can also see it on my melon in the Moab article in the Nov. issue of Parachutist. Bottom of the HD 3 stack with TJ and Jim.
