    IN REPLY___________In Texas even if you are defending yourself from bodily harm, if you shoot and miss and hit someone else, YOU are liable. If you shoot someone and the bullet passes through them, hurting someone else, YOU are liable. Yep, along with the right bear arms and protect you, your family and property comes the responsibilty to handle that firearm in a safe manner. Know your target and whats behind your target, in some instances it may be required for the greater safety of all to take someoneout even with the risk of innocent bystanders. i.e. the criminal is randomly firing at anything and everyone or you are taking direct fire and have to kill or be killed. In that case the investigation should hold you clear of negligence. Now as to what I think of this case. IMO he was within his rights to protect his property.     WOW quite the debate you started here about when the beer rule starts.... Maybe you might just buy the keg now and announce that you will be throwing a keg party at the DZ for your Graduation. This will cover any and all beer that you may or may not owe and will make you very popular at the DZ atleast as long as the tap spouts beer LOL. Remember that some folks don't drink and bring some non alchy beverages to keep them happy also. The best part of the beer rule is getting to sit around and talk skydiving with your peers,there is so much to be learned...     Dave, you are not alone, my friend. My wife got me to read them and they were very entertaining. My wife is a Harry Potter FREAK! She has HP everything: socks, bookbags, pic frames, CD holders, mousepad, watch, pens/pencils, magazine articles, post-it notes, magnets, pillow shams, ect... Yes there is even more.     I too have lost friends,one was stabbed to death at the beach, I was there when the Docs told his brother his brother was dead and met his mom in the parking lot when she finally got to the hospital,she took one look at us and knew. Man that hurt... The other was in a car wreck, I was rooming with him and his wife and child, they were like family... I really know how you feel and it sucks! It will workout,let the memories come and let the tears flow if they want to...go to the funeral if you can,it helps. Talk about it to someone close to you. My sincerest condolences.     I LOVE ELOY!!!! My job as a longhaul trucker takes me by there fairly regular and dang do I have fun.     I'm glad to hear its not worse and you realize your mistake, as I like to say "CRASH & BURN, LIVE & LEARN"...I remember at about 50 jumps I borrowed a friends Sabre190 and made one jump,I barely stayed in front(thinking,planing,flying) of the canopy, I went right back to my tired old f111 210 until I had total mastery of it. Then did I downsize? No, I went to a ZP semi elliptical Hornet210 and 200 jumps later I'm still learning. Have fun and play safely!!!
