  1. One would think they'd include the part where he walks out.
  2. Wonder how many cases this is worth?
  3. Would we have to wear hoodies instead of suits?
  4. Great, so you can get a hook knife on but I get yelled at for nail clippers. I'm going to start calling them 'nail releasers' and see if that works.
  5. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt if there's something easily available. If it's going to be used as an instruction tool, it should absolutely use a tunnel rig. Logistically, it seems like a difficult thing to implement, with both tunnel cost ($360 for 20m at the NH tunnel) and locations to have to consider. Anecdotally: I learned far more in my horrible level 2 freefall this morning than I did in the hour of tunnel time I had earlier this spring (fortunately, I didn't have to pay for the latter). Being able to fly stable didn't help me at all when I got so preoccupied with not being able to find my handle that I completely lost my COA (same rig as when I did lvl 1, when I found it just fine). I'm the only one in my group of students with any tunnel time, and the rest of them are doing just fine, so while it can be a great learning tool (and really fun), tunnel time isn't necessarily a golden bullet. My instructors seem perfectly capable of geting us stable and through our dives without it.
  6. Yes and no. When most people learn about fluid dynamics, the easiest way to get them to visualize what viscosity means is to treat it as 'air friction.' In a literal sense, that's exactly what it is, fluid molecules interacting with each other. However, most people consider 'friction' to be skin friction when talking aerodynamics, and let induced drag be its own thing, as you've done. Strictly speaking, it's the other way around.
  7. Given that most emergency situations I've heard about have occurred during takeoff/landing, I would rather be attached to my seat belt than to my TI. I'm not sure belts are even technically rated to hold two people.
  8. Not that I'm aware of. In many aircraft you would end up taking quite a bit more room than necessary since you can't squish people together as efficiently on the benches if they have to be facing the tail instead of towards the center. Not to mention it would be pretty uncomfortable for all involved on the flight up. ETA: Forgot to mention that this was an awesome video OP!
  9. The technology does exist, but I can't think of any system that is both simple and commercially viable at this point in time. One thing that comes to mind as a potential solution could be a zigbee system (low cost, open source wifi). They do have units with range, but I don't think they have the bandwidth required. I don't think Facetime can be done over 3G without jailbreaking (this was the case at first, I don't know if it has changed since), but you the cell coverage at 13K is a bigger issue. You might get something at altitude, but it's not going to be reliable, and you almost certainly won't have the bandwidth to stream video.
