  1. "It seems you have been caught stealing. Since you are 81 years old, we sentence you to 2 days in jail." "Next." "You were also caught stealing. Since you are young and healthy - 40 years in the gulag - hard labor."
  2. It's in the low 60s right now. I have a friend who has a bunch of citrus groves. He has spent the last two nights running/fixing pumps out in the groves. He lost his cell phone in one of the ditches. When it is in the 20s and the sprayers are going, you can plan on a miserable night.
  3. No one will ever admit to knowing me... It will get me an appearance on Tyra.
  4. It probably helped that GK would kill most of the men in the village. Newsweek Here is the modern technical equivalent. He is now the CEO of Cayman Chemical, a 300-person global pharmaceutical company. Wait until his will goes through probate. "Your honor, we have 400 petitioners for the division of the estate." "What?"
  5. You are a fashion leader. It seems that some people just aren't ready for it. Ten years from now, people will say they knew you when.
  6. Basically, that is the question. Is there any correlation between gun sales and crime increase/decrease? That seems to be a simple yes/no answer. It seems that if there is a correlation, it must be that as gun sales increase, crime decreases. In Chicago, the murder rate skyrocketed for a while. Gun sales had not increased, but gang violence had. The FBI recommended a plan to reduce gang activity based on their experiences in LA and NY. Chicago
  7. 42 is the answer for everything. Canadian airborne regiment - created in 1968. - Canada is close. Do the crime, then slip back across the border. - The FBI is not going to go to Canada. Once across the border, you are safe. I can't understand why people would assume that Cooper suspects must be exclusively American.
  8. I never thought he was a civilian jumper. Canadian or American. Ex-airborne. A 38 yo guy who did his 20 years and got out. Maybe he had jump training 10 years before, but was not current. He discovered that his job skills didn't move into the civilian sector well. Probably got screwed by the VA on benefits of some kind - hence the "grudge". 42 years old. He went from being in charge and having valuable skills to being under-employed and miserable. Got on a plane and did what he knew.
  9. ...name...? 20 guys with the same story, but those 20 guys are talking about 20 different suspects. Most of them would be dead by now, due to lifestyle and age (75+). Also, I have never asked the name of their suspects. That information just means that impolite people will stop by your house to chat with you. Last year, my parent lost $300K from his investment portfolio because of thieving Wall Street swine. The FBI isn't trying to put them in jail. Now the stimulus money is costing every American another $10K in the future. Those rich thieves are getting $500K bonuses this year too. DBC stood at the bottom of that stair and looked down, then he stepped out. I can respect that, at least. Cooper wasn't a rich person using a pen to steal. If he's ever caught, he'll admit that he knew he was breaking a law. I think this thread is interesting, but it is just entertainment. If I ever find out, I'm not posting a name online - I'm buying him a beer at the dz bar.
  10. I was a juror on a civil suit involving car brake failure. Anyone with a knowledge of brakes was eliminated by the defending lawyer immediately. No knowledge wanted. Next, the person being sued lied about the date he made the repairs. Then, the victim lied about his injuries (he was videoed building a low concrete block wall around his patio during his "convalescence"). Another time, it was a criminal offense. The only witnesses (domestic noise) were a couple and two police officers. The rich guy's g/f wasn't going to say anything bad about her sponsor. The cops were twisting every word that came out of their mouths. I began to wonder if everyone was talking about the same event. Overall, just a wonderful experience.
  11. Accuracy? Wouldn't you prefer that I keep with the overall theme of the thread ?
  12. I have had discussions with guys who jumped in Calif back in the day. They are all certain that they know who DBC was. "This one guy who jumped with us on a team, worked for an airline. All of a sudden, he didn't come to the dz after the Cooper thing. That guy was definitely Cooper." I know 20 guys with that story. My favorite is a good friend who has a 3-digit C-license, career military, and spent 3 years in VN teaching Pathfinder teams, among things. He said that he has no idea who DBC was. But, he said that he easily knew 50 guys who could had the skills and experience to be DBC. My point - everyone thinks that they know "The Guy". The FBI would have loved to hear someone get on this forum and mention some unknown tidbit. Didn't happen.
  13. I can't get the "announcement" part. If you aren't going to have a deadline, why mention it? "Hi... we said we were going to insist on something earlier... we're not... uhhh, thanks."
  14. I have heard the expression, "No man is buried next to his grandfather." Essentially, the personality and choices of two generations ago are seldom present in the third. I worked construction jobs when I was in college and have continued to support myself since then. If I win $25 million in the lottery, I plan on never working again. Also, I would become involved in most of the known forms of excess and foolishness. Up to this point, I just haven't had the choice. (I blame this on poor parenting. My parents weren't the Kennedys.)
  15. But it does show that more guns does not equal more gun crime like some try to claim. The FBI is one govt organization that is concerned about crime and its causes. They blame it on criminals, not guns or gun control laws. They repeat that all the time. In LA, there was a serious murder problem caused by the gangs (organized criminals). The FBI addressed the gang problem and the crime went down. They plan to use the same approach in Chicago. People ignore the FBI expertise and advice regularly to tout their own agenda. Oh, by the way, the TSA is going to stop airline bombings by banning underwear.
  16. Packin Cathy has an engraving tool that she carries around with her to boogies. Last year at Fitz, I borrowed it and engraved my name on the back of my alti. People can probably borrow them from their local dz.
  17. "People only take advantage of you through your virtues." So, if you put up with crap, you just get an increasing volume of crap. I don't see the point in that. You believe that it is being "nice" or "accepting of others". Some people depend on that. In high school, smaller guys would taunt/tease the bigger guys. When they finally tired of it, the defense was "...but it's only words". People need to grow out of that social technique. Adults have enough real-world problems without putting up with the tedious jibes of children during their free time. "Relationships are the sum of the events." That goes for online too. If everything that someone does online is to annoy. Then it is all annoyance. No value in that. The responses have been appropriate. I have friends here. I enjoy keeping in touch with them and making plans to have fun. That seems like a better purpose.
  18. I told that I was interested in such a site, but their members were not attractive enough. I hope they handle rejection well.
  19. I don't give everybody credit for comprehension.
  20. The most interesting thing about trolls is that they will go out of their way to irritate people, and then they are offended when people are irritated. "Why are people as fond of me as a vat of monkey snot?" "Because you wanted them to be that way."
  21. How many Pentecostals does it take to change a lightbulb? Only one. The advantage is, they already have their hands in the air.
  22. I worked on a credit card system that does processing for 26,000 card vendors and electronically approves 1.5 billion transactions a year. We evaluated 900 programs and changed 175 (most of them, in multiple places). The project cost was over $50m. Some companies dealt with the problem years ago. (Banks giving 30 year loans in 1970.) Most managers did want the cost to come out of their budget, so they put it off. Most made changes in small segments. The two types of companies that I found were utilities and credit card companies. (Businesses that deal with a 30-day business cycle.) So, when evaluating the affected customer base, it is only people who use credit cards or electricity.
  23. FBI According to the FBI, no ground visibility. I believe that would include towers. I think that he had no idea where he jumped.
  24. Q. How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb? A. Only one, but it has to want to change. Q. How many evangelists does it take to change a light bulb? A. None. It must REPENT FROM ITS DARK-NAY-ESS.
