  1. This is a problem that the metrosexual thing has brought about. When I see a woman in a nicely abbreviated skirt, I immediately check to see if she shaves. She got herself dressed, so she knows where she is going with it. The metrosexuals will first to see her hair, eyeliner, makeup, and such. Evaluate who is prettier. Real guys caught the joke immediately.
  2. "Darn it, I said maple frosted...call the IRS about that place." At this point, president-elect Obama has not mentioned this overtly as a priority, so it may handled later as a sub-cabinet level topic. Pretty much everything is a more pressing matter than a dead end. It's all been investigated. Where we are: New technology? DNA has excluded some people and the FBI has moved on, even if 3rd parties keep promoting it. No new evidence pointing to a suspect. Event re-creation? Obviously it can be done and has been done safely by other hijackers. However, the FBI did seek out the opinions and help of jumpers of the day during the DBC investigation. According to people who I spoke to, there were recreations of the event with the same gear and accessories. Those persons wrote an analysis and gave it to the FBI, so that part is completed. Evidence? There is a certain amount of evidence that the FBI isn't going to announce on a public forum. That is understandable in any investigation, just in case someone wants to use it as their personal proof. So, until new evidence arrives (i.e. money or a body), here is where we are (and have been): We don't know where he landed. He may or may not have kept the money after exit. He may or may not have lived. Besides, even with all of those answers, we still wouldn't know who he was, and that is the goal. To everyone: Until money or a body shows up, can we all not rehash the previous 2,000 posts again? Clapton is God. (if information is going to be reposted, that is it)
  3. Uhhhhhh ........Yeah........ the GOP still seems to be suffering from that one.. trying to slide Sister Sarah in on the American People as they did Today we are discussing the qualifications to vote. I can't believe that you don't value on-the-job experience. She has a 4-yr degree and experience as the governor. Being governor has direct decision making credentials. Plus, she didn't make the decision to allow her daughter to be publicly pawed in bars for votes. (I guess that is just a family policy for Hillary.) I definitely think that Palin should be allowed to vote. She has shown that she has a knowledge base to make decisions with. Too bad the Dems didn't have any experienced candidates. The "co-president" merely lived with the person making the decisions. (So, essentially, all the Secret Service have 8 years "experience" have the same qualifications, while avoiding the mindless rage). If Hillary had worked on her appearance, she could have gotten the "attractive vote" from her "constituency".
  4. I respond with, "I used to think that it was just my friends that are crazy, then I realize that I just know them better. How about you? Any crazy friends?" People fall into two categories. People who do crazy stuff. People who wish they could. well... you know they say that something like 1 in 4 are crazy... so... think of 3 of your friends and if they're ok then it's likely that you're it... You haven't met my friends. All 4 of us are crazy.
  5. Would you also then exclude the men who voted for Sarah Palin based on their being controlled by their little heads??? No, you need to understand how evidence of past discrimination is justified in its reverse application as its remedy. (Similar to giving jobs to women now, just because they weren't educated enough in the past.) Women voted for JFK ("he has a really nice tan and hair") and Clinton ("he has really nice hair"). So, now men get to vote for women based on their looks. In the past, we only had Hillary Rottweiller Clinton. That's kind of like being a food critic and only getting to decide among British cuisine. (Except that some British food is palatable.) Palin is attractive for an older woman, but not votable. I am waiting for Blake Lively to run for governor of Calif. However, Calif seems to only be electing men as their gov currently, along with their other sexist/homophobic agendas.
  6. Yes. I saw that when I read "out". He's taking them "out". Soon they expect other guys to take them places in public and stuff.
  7. Also, (Duh!), come and get on a 10-way speed team. You can get on a team and play. There will be plenty of teams looking for a last minute pickup or two. TK usually corrals an extras. It is an awesome experience and there will be people wondering around who can give some coaching.
  8. Budget. The only reason that government does stuff. Cooper is an FBI industry. You have 5 people looking for him and now they need a supervisor and a staff assistant. Office space, webpages... If they had other stuff to do, they'd be doing that.
  9. Television. The power of televised debates reveals itself in post-debate polls. At the JFK-Nixon debate, JFK was rested, tanned, and well-dressed. Nixon refused makeup, was pale from a recent illness, and limping from hitting his knee on a car door moments before. After the debates, many radio listeners gave the edge to Nixon. Television viewers, however, overwhelmingly agreed that Kennedy had won. We are picking the President like we pick Miss America. Nobody cares about the talent portion, just the swimsuit competition. So, the new requirement is that women, who are ovulating during the week of voting, will be excluded. I am for the womens right to vote, they just need to be sensible at the time.
  10. I respond with, "I used to think that it was just my friends that are crazy, then I realize that I just know them better. How about you? Any crazy friends?" People fall into two categories. People who do crazy stuff. People who wish they could.
  11. I read his article and the supporting documents. The supporting documents are correct, but his analysis is the work of the uneducated. It has most of the statistical errors contained by "repeating" journalists. The person who created the website Fark has a book on the topic. First, the base study was limited to one place. So, saying that all dropzones have this error rate is using a small sample to generalize about the population. ("I have seen two cars today and they were green, so all cars are green.") Second, the study site is a trauma unit, so they have excluded the safe events from the study. The obvious, and handily overlooked, number is how much money was successfully and safely collected. Imagine if you did the same study on cars. "We had 400 car injury patients, who drove an average of 4 miles from home, and they cost us an average of $20,000." Using that his statistical method: - Driving a car costs $5,000 a mile. - Everyone who drives was in an accident. It ignores the millions of safe miles driven every year. Last, it has the earmark of web bloggerss: They've got to write some crap each week. The more asinine it is, the more attention and response that they recieve. Controversy keeps a blogger employed. A one-sided issue is always best.
  12. The perennial favorite for 10-way speed on T-day is the Zhills Muff Brothers team Van Break. Come out and show your support by wearing your favorite MB t-shirt. (We don't care if you are on another team
  13. Really? You and Bob? How long have you and Bob been involved?
  14. It didn't work for me. My ex g/f told me that she didn't want any more lying or cheating. So, I quit lying and it just seemed to make her angrier. (Some people... they give you a choice and you just can't win.)
  15. The thread started as a quasi-topic and devolved to tasteless discussion of the most effective technique. It seems like this is a special case in the thread-deletion guidelines. Kind of like having diarrhea and projectile vomiting at the same time. We have arrived at a new low in the spinning, sprinkler of the internet.
  16. That is the cost of developing a strategy. From the Millenium Project website. Fortunately, that hasn't happened, it is still at .22 instead of .7. The .7 of GNP would be an additional $60 billion, which over lifespan of the project is nearly $850 billion. I don't know how they do their math, because the UN estimates an additional $75-150 per US taxpayer.
  17. The treaty was signed to prevent exactly this type of thing. An exemption is a bad idea. The exemption adds to proliferation, the stated problem. It should be pointed out that if someone has non-proliferation as a stated goal, then, as a member of congress, they can vote against it. State one goal, vote another. The other "non-proliferation" action mentioned is actually supervision of the "build down" that has been in process for years. So, showing up for a fact-finding tour of work-in-progress is not an achievement. So, the only aspect of "proliferation" that it is fighting is the possible acquisition of these weapons by unfriendly powers in the ME.
  18. First, you have no choice. The govt gets your taxes and spends them in whatever fashion it wishes. The best part, it won't be spent on Americans in poverty. The budget is for $845 Billion and it is being given to the UN. Second, it is currently being done in the most idiotic fashion. Companies trade money for resources in foreign countries. The despots of those countries spend the money on weapons, but not food/medicine/shelter for their own people. Then, the US provides the impoverished countries relief. Sponsor? O Co-sponsor? Hillary Introduced? Dec 2007. Discussed during the campaign... nope. Mentioned on the website... nope.
  19. Read the thread on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty carefully. The Obama is for the control of nuclear material. The Dem party sponsored and had several Dem co-sponsors for a bill to give nuclear material to India. India is one of four non-signers to the NNPT. India has also tested nuclear weapons (a violation of the agreement). When did this all occur? Why...just last month. During the election... while they were promising...? Oh, and yes, Obama did vote for it. How do I know this? Read his voting record. Want to know the way to stop nukes? Your party doesn't sign a bill that gives an exemption to a treaty with 189 signing countries. Otherwise, what was the f-in point?
  20. Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT or NNPT) is a treaty to limit the spread of nuclear weapons. There are currently 189 countries party to the treaty. Only four recognized sovereign states are not parties to the treaty: India, Israel, Pakistan and North Korea. India and Pakistan both possess and have openly tested nuclear bombs. This is the beauty of it. There is only one amendment to the bill and it has already been violated. (see lines above and below) Passed during Sept-Oct 2008. Current news. This sounds like the old Carter/N.Korea junk. "Here's the nuclear material, and you promise not to use it to build bombs." "Oh, surprise, we used it to build bombs." Sponsors? Mostly Democrats. Rep. Howard Berman [D, CA-28] (sponsor) Co-Sponsors Rep. Gary Ackerman [D, NY-5] Rep. Joseph Crowley [D, NY-7] Rep. Eliot Engel [D, NY-17] Rep. Eni Faleomavaega [D, AS-0] Rep. Nicholas Lampson [D, TX-22] Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen [R, FL-18] Rep. Edward Royce [R, CA-40] Rep. Robert Wexler [D, FL-19] Amendments to H.R.7081 Number Status Purpose S.Amdt.5683 Fail To prohibit nuclear trade with India in the event that India detonates a nuclear weapon and to impose certain certification, reporting, and control requirements. From the O website:
  21. It seems to be a theme. Two nights ago, I was talking with friends about politics. I asked if they had read the websites of either candidate to learn their platform. Both said no. I asked if they had compared the voting records of either candidate to see if they relate to their proposed platforms. Both said no. Then, they both started giving me quotes from SNL. That was their source of campaign information. Saturday Night Live comedians.
  22. Never encourage a redhead to cook. At some point, you'll be discussing something in the kitchen near all the pointy things. (That will sound like a joke for a while. )
  23. How does your 401k look? I'm a techie. I buy what I know. I own a lot of Cisco. The whole company is getting outsourced, so... good. Besides, this isn't about facts or my opinion, it's about perception. Perception - -1- Obama criticizes Hillary for calling herself D-Punjab. -2- Then, he says that he will do the "Kerry thing", he will remove the tax benefit for outsourcing. Fact - USINPAC (the Indian Political Action Committee) donates $4 million to his campaign. What should we expect? What does $4 million buy these days? Oh wait... we haven't heard the "removing the tax break" speaking-point lately.
  24. Fashionable, trimmed in slimming colors, and useful in a casual setting as well. It has that "can be worn anywear" look. Try it on your next date at Chilis. It is still warmish down here, but there was a low ceiling this weekend. Good HW parties everywhere.
