  1. Assuming you are not a troll... It is not the gear, it's the landings that are your risk. I am sure I could find a way to teach you to freefall. I just don't think I could sleep at night after you got hurt landing a parachute. I have done nearly 1000 instructor jumps, enough to have had some students get hurt on landings, I have had a few people I have taught go to the hospital (heck I even carried a friend out of a canyon after a BASE landing injury), and enough to see trends of the type of people more prone to injury. I would not risk jumping with you at this point because I could not sleep at night after you got hurt knowing it would be my fault for accepting a student who had a medical condition that could be "fixed" prior to the jump. Conditions that can't be "fixed", such as old age, I am much more willing to risk when the student can recite to me the fact they understand the risk and can express why the reward is worth accepting the risk. To me it is like this. If a student came to me with epilepsy, I would take them if the doctor said they were the most stable they could be with modern medicine. If they were untreated and did not mitigate the risk of seizure, I would say "sorry, come back as soon as you can, go see the doc, fix the problem." So, instead of testing yourself in a windtunnel for freefall skills, you need to test your landing skills. Can you jump off of a refrigerator, on wheels being pushed at 5 MPH, 10 times in a row, onto concrete or very uneven ground, possibly covered with rocks, and immediately run 10 steps? You don't have to be the world's greatest athlete to land a parachute safely, but you have to be athletic. P.S. I am not a unsympathetic asshat. I was overweight for the first half of my life and I understand what it was like to lose weight and what it felt like prior to losing weight when I could not do things my friends could do. If you need help, I am available via phone or email, and I will give you the support you need to have a peer who "forces" you to exercise every day and holds you accountable to your own goals. Good luck! Bang on. As a clinician I've seen a patient of this size who had an open book fracture of the pelvis from just falling off the back seat of a taxi when it braked suddenly, all she did was land on her knees from a sitting position. As has been said elswhere in this thread its not just the safety of the OP at risk when thinking about jumping at his size and weight. I'd hate to hear that OP had injured themselves or even died following a hard landing. If the OP wants to be insirational then lose the weight and show us and good luck to him. 5. If its about racial unification then using only the black keys is a prety strange way to deliver the message. That was the point of my OP. Hence the question about why you thought my thinking was linear. The speaker actually said we are all united in Christ. That should have been a clue. My grandparents, parents and grad school professors emphasized a concept known as "reading between the lines" to look for a deeper meaning. It is probably just an American thing. Total nonsense. Banging on about slaves and negros, no wonder that race is such a problem in the USA. You're argument holds water like a rusty colander. 7. And that makes it OK in your book. We get it. Comprehension and cognative processing evading you today are they? No - you are clearly making an argument for approval because it is cultural. Your argument is that because it is done here and hthere it must be OK. No that is your view not mine. My point is that Honour killings are not Islamic but cultural, murder is not acceptable for any reason. AH - but it isn't murder if it is in the name of Allah, and imdemnified by the koran? right? No No, it isn't murder in your belief system. Got it. learn to think When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 9. While your statement has some truth, it is a fine example of linear thinking. Thank you, please expand your reasoning. The message is not about the pentatonic scale. It is about God's grace, human change and racial unification. If its about racial unification then using only the black keys is a prety strange way to deliver the message. 14. Don't talk bollocks. I don't know how to talk bollocks. And yet you do it so well. If you say so. I must have learned this "Talking Bollocks" from listening to liberals for so long. It may suprise you to learn that outside of the USA people are not generally viewed in terms of Liberal and Conservative. Its rather childish. 16. It is the job of the United Nations' human rights commissioner to review what Governments are doing globally to uphold human rights. So as to your first question 'do they really think they have ther right?' the answer is yes, they not only have the right but were appointed to the position specifily to monitor numan rights breaches. That the US Governmant sees this as a potential breach of human rights and is using its challenge as an example of how it is protecting human rights is why the UN are looking at this in the first place. 19. I'd be happy to trade comments about the content rather than trade insults and jibes. Let both try that. Generally I'd agree with you, obviously the USA is not curently on a par with Nazi Germany. However it would seem that it is becoming worryingly more intollerant of forigeners and in particular Mulims. ( I often see in SC reference to Muslims in a way that suggests that its not possible to be an American and a Muslim (I'm not suggesting that this is your viewpoint or that you have insinuated this)). Nazi Germany didn't start with a big bang but a gradual errosion of civil liberties and a steady acceptance of anti semitism within society. Looking at what has happened in the USA in regards to a acceptance of Muslim bashing (for want of a better phrase) in the the last decade it is quite alarming. As Andy mentioned in this post the cancer of extremisim spreads like widfire and that goes for people on both sides of the fence. the vast majority of Muslims want to live their lifes and raise their familys in peace just like the majority of other people in the west, the wacko extremists on both sides are doing everything they can to fan the hatred. Its distyrbing that promoting fear of Muslims seems to have been used in the last few years mainly by RWC Americans (although not exclusivly) as a political vechicle with which to undermine the current POTUS and his administration as well as justify the two wars in which thousands of Americans (and huundreds of thousand of non Americans)have lost their lives in. Imagine how the victim here felt when she found out she couldn't even get a restraining order against her rapist/ex-husband, let Aline secure a conviction in a criminal trial. Judge Charles is a practitioner of Sharia Law? How interesting. I'd use the word disturbing instead of interesting. He is supposed to practice law under New Jersey law and federal law. Instead of keeping it in the legal realm, he considered the man's beliefs and religion, neither of which is relevant to any element of the alleged crimes. He didn't even need to decide of the census happened, only whether a restrainig order was reasonable. He stated, based on the filings from each party, that they probably did. Right there is grounds for a protective order. But instead he went on about what the man thought and excused his actions. He shouldn't have considered sharia law, but he did. Do you understand now? I understood the first time round thank you. |What has this poor decision by someone who should know better got to do with Sharia law? He was not compelled to take Sharia into account, no one asked him to as far as I can tell.
