  4. Hi Jeanne, not sure what you mean, what I'm saying is that the reality of the UK today is its a multi faith multi racial society which is rich due to the diversity. However there is certain elements in society who seek to scapegoat and fear monger. The truth of the matter is that we are a mongrel nation made up of millennia of invaders and traders. I am proudly British and have no time with extremists of any kind, religious or political, or religious intolerance. 7. The question was is Islam compatible with democracy. No true Theocracy is compatible with democracy regardless of the religion. Islam as you are aware is not a religion that is practiced only on the Sabbath. The aforementioned countries are without an doubt Muslim countries, the fact that they are secular in their government but run by Muslims in a democracy clearly shows that there is no incompatibility between Islam and democracy. Its precisely this kind of model that Muslims across the Islamic world are moving towards with the people power movements we are now seeing. The media isn't broadcasting half of what is currently going on. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 8. Sure, Turkey manages it ok as does the Maldives. So does Indonesia the largest Muslim country in the world which also happens to be a democracy of 238 million people. This nonsense about Islam being incompatible with democracy is total bull. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 9. i think i started shooting army rifles at age 14. got it to bring it home with me. fully-auto, too! Nice, I started using them at 12.5yrs old but couldn't bring them home. 10. Whats your point John? As you have acknowledged in the past the problem is not the guns but the culture in which they are misused. Therefore Swiss examples are not relevant to anywhere but Switzerland. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 11. Wow, I thought this thread started out as pathetic drivel now its turned into pure shite. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  12. Honour killings are cultural not religious, carried out by people of various religions not just muslims. Now, lets talk about sausages, personally beef sausages in wholemeal toast are at the top of my list although I also like spicy Moroccan lamb sausages Yum Yum! 13. Eh, you (probably) missed my point on those two. My point was, the colonial Brits and French (more so the Brits) were often imperiously contemptuous, or at least arrogant, toward the cultures of indigenous peoples they "administered" (and that's not even getting into the whole English/Irish thing...); so in light of that, they're hardly in a position to have any sympathy from me when they drip their crocodile tears about the "failure of multiculturalism." They'd be better off if they'd just STFU and eat a few slices of humble pie. Nonsense, democracy and humanitarianism have always been trademarks of the British Army. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLJ8ILIE780 When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. EGYPT???

By the time most Americans wake up on Friday, he'll probably either be dead or have committed mass murder. What he should have done on Thursday was take a couple million in gold out of the bank, wave goodbye and hop on his jet to France. Friday is not going to be pretty. Friday is looking pretty good from where I'm sitting. I guess Muslims in the middle east can pull off a peaceful revolution after all. Well what d'ya know! 16. Actually regardless of what Dave thinks the UK is actually working pretty well and is multicultural. I'd like to see a stronger British identity but there is no such thing, never has been. At best there is a Scottish, Welsh, Irish culture and the English have always been a blend of cultures, Danes, Viking, Saxon, Roman, Norman to name but a few. 17. I wonder if Americans will still be so supportive of democracy if the Egyptian people finally vote in the Muslim Brotherhood? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

  21. Well, I know there are many liberals here that probably wouldn't argue against it. Most people do leave those behind...for others it is their reason for being here, but as I said earlier we have ways to deal with killers. Also, as shown in the video I posted above, it's not always immigrants that are the problem, but natural born citizens who convert to a "radical hybrid ideology" motivated by "political discontent." Exactly so. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

  25. I actually agree with some of what he is saying. However he picked a very bad time to say it and needs to clarify just what he is talking about. Loose comments are not helpful. What are 'British core values' seeing as the UK has the highest rate of STD's, unmarried mothers, teenage pregnancies, binge drinking and drug problem in Europe (along with the highest heart disease and type II Diabetes rates) just what core values does he want Muslims to respect? Maybe they should integrate by letting their children run riot getting drunk and drugged up whilst being promiscuous and having no regard for either their health or consideration for the community in which they live. Then maybe he would be happy. Or maybe he still thinks that England is the land of Byron and Shelly where the gentle sound of leather on willow greets the quite air and genteel ladies take tea whilst young men punt along the river, in which case maybe he should take his head out of his arse and realise that we didn't all go to Eton. That said I do feel that it would be good to have a stronger inclusive identity of the new Britain, one to which all colours and creeds can identify with. Because Englishmen come in all colours these days. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
