  1. I forgot to pay a credit card bill one month. Could have sworn I had payed it. When the next invoice came I went back and checked my check book and sure enough I had payed every bill but that one. What really sucked is I only had a $30 balance on it and that missed payment affected my credit score (slightly) for several years. Respect the Dolphin
  2. I'll be 29 in about 3 days. 30 is coming at me like a rocket. Someday I may actually grow up. Respect the Dolphin
  3. I'll be at zhills as well New years eve and New Years Day.

  5. Hey, another Westcoaster (of Florida, I hate when they say that). I live in Sarasota. Come on and out and play with us at zhills. Hans is relatively harmless. You do carry mace right? Respect the Dolphin

  9. There was a pumpkin drop contest at my DZ over Halloween (the small soft ball sized pumpkins). The target was set up on a field on the DZ property but not in the landing area. The target was on the other side of the buildings and parking lot. The rule was that the pumpkin had to be dropped from 1,500 feet or higher. If anyone was to drop it lower they probably wouldn't make it back. Seemed to work OK. Except my pumpkin accuracy sucks. Respect the Dolphin
  10. "Distinct" maybe, "acute" no. Unless mild sedatives mixed with hard hallucinogenics are prescribed. We'll have to slip him somenext weekend and see what happens. Respect the Dolphin

    Wind tunnel

I don't know what Bikerbabe PM'ed you but there is a place right across the street that is about $30 a night if you tell them you are there for the tunnel. No frills sort of place but clean. Respect the Dolphin
  15. I haven't thouroughly read every post but it looks to me as if we're looking at this as right or wrong. An ethical issue. I don't know how far they are planning on taking this experiment. Are they going to clone a fully developed adult, just a fetus, or some human tissue cultures. I'm guessing they are doing this to gain knowledge. I believe that knowledge in itself is not subject to ethical discussions. Just how we obtain this knowledge and how we apply it. Second guessing myself: I wonder if we are applying knowledge or obtaining it and what the actual method is. Respect the Dolphin

  20. I just recently finished AFF and got my license. It took me quite a few jumps just to be comfortable with the idea of jumping. The plane ride was the worst and making my way to the door worse yet. Once I was out the fear was gone and it was pure exhiliration (sp?). I would say it really depends on how comfortable and confident you feel in freefall. It's better to be scared and conservative than cocky and reckless when participating in this sport. I also had to fight the $$$ guilt, family guilt, etc. My parents refuse to talk about it except for the article in the paper recently about a skydiving incident. My Father cut it out and gave it to me and then just grunted. If it's not something you want to do every weekend or every month maybe just stick to tandems every now and again. As long as it's fun for you and you get something positive out of it. Respect the Dolphin
  21. Sounds like my parents. Respect the Dolphin
  22. Parents are in town so I spent the entire weekend attempting to entertain them. They have no desire to see me jump out of an airplane. Respect the Dolphin

    Spam

I've started getting spammed in my dz.com e-mail. i've only sent a few messages with it to people I know. Also, those damn pop up windows. I ran ad-aware and it didn't do a thing for the pop-ups. Fact: Every 4 minutes in the United States a can of Spam is opened. Just learned that piece of trivia today. Respect the Dolphin
  24. My first jump was a tandem. It took me about a year to actually committ to AFF. I knew what freefall felt like but after a year there was still some sensory overload. I do recomend a tandem first just to see what it's like. AFF is somewhat expensive so an extra $150 just to make sure you want to do it and clear the first hurdle of jumping out of an airplane seems worth it to me. You also won't be as overwhelmed by this strangge sensation during your AFF1 jump. IMHO Respect the Dolphin
