Merry Christmas to everyone! And happy new year too. On a side note, quoth from the linked Bird-man page: "Our BMI program has been growing in quantity and quality. The course takes now minimum three days and is a real test of skills on ground and in the ear." In the ear? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

No, I didn't mean they should work over Christmas of course. I meant that the package should have at least left France; the dvds were posted on the 20th, and I would have thought that within Europe it wouldn't take that long... but if they're on strike a lot... oh well, nothing we can do but wait. Scott, thanks for the advice.

Damn the slow French postal system. My dvd has been stuck in France for some days now; I want mine now! Hey Glen, no posting any spoilers now... Kate, how did you get your order so fast? Did you have them sent by UPS or FedEx or somesuch? Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Indeed the snaps for the booties have been on my wish list since I got the suit, but I keep forgetting to go to the store and get some. Some of the earlier production models of the S3S did not have them, but apparently later ones do (as is seen in Saskia's picture). And yes, that is where i'll be placing them.
-
Ok, never mind my earlier picture. I didn't have it fully hooked up. When I lace them all the way up, the yellow cables are too long and the loops look exactly like yours, Saskia. I've tried sliding the cables into the loop but that doesn't help either. Perhaps ours are just too long? I guess I can shorten them. What is a good way to do this? Pliers and a lighter? Damn... I had no idea they were so paranoid about communications and radio gear. Guess I'll be leaving my GSM cell phone and GPS at home. Anyways, thanks for the links, Scott. Lots of good info in there. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News -
Hmmm... they do look a little long, but otherwise that is how they are supposed to be hooked up yeah. Here's a shot of mine: http://airlabs.octanox.net/images/DSC00306.JPG Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Yeah, my suit is a pretty tight fit (I need to lose some kilo's ), I think that's a part of the reason the tabs get spread out wider. I'm thinking if there was a piece of elastic webbing to put the top stiffner in just like there is for the bottom stiffner it would work a lot better. It would be stowed similarly to many toggle designs on risers. I'll check tonight if I can make this mod. Shouldn't be too difficult. Cheers, Costyn. Meh... I don't really like the S3S system. The velcro at least stays in place in the original design. When I'm not wearing it, the top stiffner stays nicely underneath the tabs, but when I have the suit on, the tabs are spaced a lot wider and the stiffner sort of hangs out. Sure, it stays in place but it just looks messy and unreliable. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Yeah, so did the 2 copies I ordered for Team Fly Like Brick (McCordia and myself ). I hope they will arrive sometime this week, but I doubt it. i've been trying to figure out the La Poste tracking website... Confusing since my French isn't very good. Although babelfish.altavista.com does help. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Haha! No problem Medusa. We just hope to see you there! Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News -
That would be me in the bright yellow PF Phantom that James had kindly sent me to try out that weekend. At the speed the flock was going, the suit did not generate enough lift (or I was just incapable of flying it

Kickass! Just placed an order for mine! Couldn't figure out how to get the online shop in English though... luckily I could somewhat figure out what stuff was and managed to place an order. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

yeah about 3 meters from where I fell was a treeline right in my line of flight. I was more worried about hitting it and concentrating less on my flare and flared a little too high. I stumbled and did a nice PLF. Jarno managed to get a frame capture right at my most awkward moment, though. Hehe. Well, if you don't post the video, I won't tell anybody about the swoop-and-get-foot-hooked-behind-grass-tuft-face-plant landing you made on saturday afternoon.. I have to comment that I don't agree with this. Jarno and I have been practicing some sequentials, where I first dock on Jarno's right, then let go, fly over him onto his left and dock again. We then let go, and he flies over me to my left side and docks, and so on. Granted, we've only done this on a couple jumps, and we don't get that many docks in yet, but it's definitely possible. With more practice I don't see why you could not do similar things with 3 or 4 people. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News -
Already done..:) More pics (of your landing etc) at http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~fxcordia/photo/ D'oh! You were posting the screencaps as I was typing... confusing. :P OMG I look lik I'm having an epileptic attack: http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~fxcordia/photo/12_dec_schaffen/costyn_rock&roll.jpg Actually I look like a total dork... That was frikkin nice... although I was sorta hoping to see you alongside me sometime, but it was good. Barreling back to the dz... GPS reported 157 km/h (97 mph) forward speed... (although I'm still fiddling with it - I'm not sure how reliable that was). Hey Jarno, can you post some screencaps? Otherwise I'll do it tonight. Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Sorry to nitpick, but if there is a higher pressure region on your chest, and this is where your altimeter is located, it will indicate a lower altitude than what you really are at. Or is this what you meant? And Notsane's idea with the neptune is an excellent idea. I'd be pretty interested in the results too. Cheers, Costyn. Well, Marco and Gi (atmonauti people) both have them and say they are quite pleased with them. When I saw one of these over here in Europe recently I thought it was quite a well made helmet. As the price reflects.

I would love to go! Sounds very cool. I think we should go, Jarno, and Ol' Gaptooth too. Why wait to decide just before the event? Most importantly, make sure my boss knows in time that I want some days off. And then get el-cheapo tickets. Whats the closest international airport anyways? Cheers, Costyn. Ya, I agree there. The beginner suits are nice, but better save your money and rent a suit for the first couple jumps and then buy a midrange. Of course, I kinda went the opposite, jumped a Classic II for 80 or 90 jumps, after which I could use every last bit of performance it had, which was a fun learning process too.. and now I've recently purchased an S3S. There's nothing wrong with a Classic for most flocking. Only flocks with a lot of forward speed (where everybody else has a high performance suit) become difficult, but those will be difficult in a GTI or other midrange too. Cheers.
