damn you! I'm so jealous. I wanna go too, but my boss hasn't given me time off yet.... Mid-december I'll know if I can go or not. Greetz, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Heheh Jarno did you have a hand in this? Seems like something that could have been sprouted from your twisted imagination. Yeah its pretty funny the kids singing "there fly the panthers". It seems to be a kids show with an interesting intro. Couldn't tell what kind of wingsuits they were, though. Cheers, Costyn. Hahaha like Adam on Mythbusters getting his lip sucked into the vacuum cleaner engine? Very funny. Also looked very painful. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Heh... yeah thats who I meant. I couldn't remember his name! Anyways, I fumbled the exit on that jump and didn't get to join you guys until later . And for you imperial measurement people, that's 10 degrees F at exit point... brrr! Cheers. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Last saturday we made some excellent flocks over Rotterdam. Participants were Hans (S3), Roel (S3), Jarno (S3S), Andre (Classic), and myself (S3S). It was cold... very cold, but it was worth it! Check the funky framegrabs, courtesy of Jarno. Unfortunately we hit some wet air and some of the pics are a little fogged. Cheers, Costyn. Very cool dude. I would say your editing and choice of music makes it an excellent video. Of course the footage is awesome, but to put it toghether nicely is an artform too! We want more! Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

I love Sony Vegas. I found it quite intuitive and lots of nice features, but I wouldn't call it beginner's software though. There are programs like Adobe Premiere Elements which are more geared towards people just starting out to edit video. I hadn't done it either before I started using Vegas, but I do computer stuff for a living and figured it out after a while. Good luck. Let me know if you need any help with Vegas. I'll throw in another vote for Sonic. I have a 2 piece Sonic freefly suit that I'm terribly pleased about. Heavy material for drag without all the flapping, and the quality of the stitching is excellent. There are quite a number of people here in the Netherlands using these suits. The only downside to it was the delivery time, which was a lot longer than advertised (6 weeks instead of 3-4), but apparently Vincent (owner of Sonic) was working on his wingsuit flight across the Straight of Gibraltar flight at the same time, so it's kind of understandable. It was worth the wait anyways. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Nice video dude... got any more footage of those jumps? Tip: I saw the datarate in the clip was at 1969 kbps. This is a lot more than necessary. Between 350 and 500 will get you decent quality in Windows Media Player and not have such a huge file to upload/download. You should be able to specify the rate when you render/export it to WMV. I thought the S3S has mylar standard in the wing deflectors? The models I've seen did, at least. Or they were very stiff at any rate. Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Having done some gainer exits from a skyvan (oh what fun!) I would agree with this as well. Once you are face to earth again, you slide down the hill and although you do lose altitude you also gain vertical speed which can be conveniently converted to horizontal speed for more lift. I thought only Gi was capable of feet-first atmonauti. So other people have figured it out by now? That shit is crazy indeed. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

While you're at it, there's some more great podcasts out there. Check out: * The Dawn & Drew Show * Whack my Bush * Ancestor Audiobook Podcast You can find them on the iTunes podcast directory or Google. Did I mention they were free? And great to listen to during your commute or when doing house chores? Enjoy! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

FYI: Marco Tiezzi refers to the leader as the 'navigator'.

Thanks for the kudo's everyone! The jump was fun and it was fun making the video! Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Here's a video I put together this weekend of a jump about a week ago. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=2853 Scene: Perris, CA, sunset load. 6 wingsuits: 4 SF3's and 2 classics. There were 5 camera's, so lots of nice footage. Enjoy! Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Heh I wish I had a benefactor... unfortunately they'll have to be paid from my hard earned cash. I think I should have put more emphasis on eventually. Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Oh, you're probably right. I don't know. I guess its hard for anyone to make a objective analysis when they've only done a few jumps on the suits. Anyways, I don't think we should discuss this any more until some people have significant jump numbers on both suits and can give a more detailed impression of the suits. I'm planning on getting them both eventually anyways. Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Oh I don't argue that at all. I know the Phantom can be flown at slower speeds, but it takes more skill/practice than an S3 for example. Like you say, you just have to figure it out. The huge arm wings on the S3(S) make it easy for anyone with little experience on the suit to fly a slow flock. Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
-
Yep, that was my experience as well, when kicking the Phantom into high gear (extending legs and pointing toes), an S3(S) will have trouble keeping up with the Phantom in terms of forward speed. Unfortunately it is more difficult to fly at low forward speeds due to the somewhat smaller arm wings (but we discussed this to death in another thread already ). So, to conclude, it beats the pants off a GTI. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Amazing man. Very cool. Thanks for sharing these with us.. now of course we want more! And desktop wallpaper size!

I just wanna say that I had a great time this weekend! Henny, thank you for the organizing! Jari, thanks for bringing along all the cool toys for us to play with. And everyone else, thanks for all the fun jumps we did! Hope Saskia is gonna post more pics and someone is gonna make a video? Cheers, Costyn. Jarno was not the base during the jump in question where I was having so much trouble keeping with the formation. But I would agree with you that most flocks will not be flying that slow. Absolutely, and I'm sure after more experience in the phantom I would be able to join in slow flocks as well. The flocks we were flying during earlier jumps were quite a bit faster and I could easily keep up. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

That is a good point. Before this weekend I had no experience in either an S3S or a Phantom, and I have to agree with you, Jarno that flying the S3S in a flock was a lot easier than the Phantom when I had no experience in either. Indeed. No wingsuit is perfect.
