I had this done 1 1/2 years ago. It has been great, though it took me at least 6 months before my vision started feeling "normal" again. (It was probably not a good idea for me to spend as much time staring into a computer screen as I did.) Actually, I haven't been jumping much since then, but when I do it is so nice not having to mess with contacts. It did change my depth perception, so it took a few jumps (a few crash landings) for me to get comfortable with that. Anyhow, good luck! I'm sure you'll love it!
-
I will not jump if I am hungover. Being hungover is being impaired, and I prefer not to put myself and others in danger by jumping impaired. I wish everyone else felt the same way, but oh well... Now I do have to admit that I've had to drive with a serious hangover a few times, and that's just as bad...

15 Top Dreams----how many of these have YOU dreamt?
Shotgun replied to marcandalysse's topic in The Bonfire
I've had all of those except for the ones about school, teachers, and examinations. The dream (nightmare) that I have most often is not on there though, which is about not being able to move (but it is often accompanied by the "sensing a presence vividly" that they do have on the list). I love having flying dreams, floating through the air, but I don't have them often enough. Every time I have one it is the same thing - I am thinking "Wow, this time I'm NOT dreaming! I really CAN fly!", and then I wake up. -
Thanks for posting that, Rosa. I used to have that hanging on my wall, but the frame got broken and I haven't replaced it. (Now that you've reminded me, I think I will!) It is some of the best advice I have ever heard.

Yeah, you're right... For some reason San Fran didn't even make the top ten. Maybe their statistics are not so accurate??? Though, according to this poll, they do seem to be on to something about Republicans liking mustard on their wieners.
-
That is what the people in white coats keep telling me... Now, doesn't the National Hot Dog Council have anything better to do with their time??? Oh, and according to their website, Los Angeles is the biggest sausage-eating city in the US. I wonder if that has anything to do with the porn industry there???
-
I put both mustard and ketchup on my hot dogs, and I am not affiliated with any political party. I am such a rebel.

As far as I know, they are standard t-shirt sizing. Here's a link to GoWear's sizing chart (the measurements are shown in inches): http://go-wear.com/size_info.html If you're not sure what size to order, there's a "Contact Us" link on that page with an email address for them.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but.... that kinda turned me on. Now I'm definitely voting for them...

This changes all the time, but for today... 1. From Dusk Til Dawn 2. Cabaret 3. Singing in the Rain 4. Bride of Chucky 5. The Devil in Miss Jones

I often pay my membership fees at the very last minute, and it's never had any effect on my receiving the magazine. Maybe your mail person just decided to keep it this month? Just kidding... hope you receive one! -
Well, according to this article, the simple act of seeing the ultra hot women will make all the other women less desirable to you. Whereas, if you were in a club with only average-looking women, they would appear much more attractive to you. So it seems that you would be better off without the ultra hot women because then you would be more likely to be attracted to the average-looking women, and therefore have a lot more women to choose from. (Ok, actually I personally thought the article was a load of crap... but since I had just read it and it applied to your question, I thought I'd post it anyway ;-)

See, the problem there is that I am just a teensy bit schizophrenic... Ok, well maybe more than just a teensy bit.... So I don't think I really want all my different personalities living around me at once. Some of them are quite annoying, so they're easier to deal with just one at a time. And now that you've put it in that perspective, my current neighbors don't seem so bad after all.
-
Well, yeah, we are... But I'd prefer to have weird neighbors too... Guess I should move back to Austin... or just move to the Ghetto.
-
That's a good point. I'm sure all of our neighbors think we're weird anyway...

That's good to know... I was just about to lose faith in Al! (Ok, actually I already knew a bit about Tim Berners-Lee ;-) I was actually just looking at that book while at an airport on layover, but I didn't buy it because I already had a book with me. I'm glad you mentioned it though, because I had forgotten about it... So I have now put it on a sticky note to remind myself (if I ever finish the book I'm reading right now!). It does sound very interesting. Thanks for the recommendation!

Right... Most of my neighbors have contributed directly to George W. Funny though, I just looked up my old Texas zipcode (where I am feeling quite homesick for - I'm living in CA right now), and most of those people have donated to Democrats. For the record, I don't consider myself either Democrat or Republican. I just don't support George W., but now I know that I'm surrounded by people who do!
-
That was depressing. Though I guess I already knew that I don't have much in common with my neighbors. Thanks for the link anyway.

You mean it wasn't Al Gore!!??? But seriously, I do like to read too. I am currently reading 'Atlas Shrugged' by Ayn Rand, but I really do have a short attention span so it will take me a few months to finish... And I just bought a biology book, so I'll probably end up reading them at the same time... I also enjoy biographies. P.T. Barnum's is one that I found particularly interesting. He was quite the ingenious businessman. I tend to look them up immediately because it will drive me crazy to go on reading if I don't. That is exactly what I was wondering, Jan. Even without TV, I'm sure you spend a lot of time on the computer... I don't watch much TV, but the Internet is a problem for me. It is probably the main reason I don't have much time for books anymore. It really caters to those of us with short attention spans. I find myself constantly thinking of things I want to know about, and the Internet often provides instant gratification (most recently - the history of domestic cats, what pathologists do and how autopsies are performed, why the Cherokees were moved to Oklahoma...). The problem is that I rarely learn in-depth information about any one topic...

For those that want God out of the White House....
Shotgun replied to Ron's topic in Speakers Corner
I never had any reason to think he was. -
Unfortunately, I do have a bad tendency to focus on the negative things that I see more than the positive. I'm trying to re-train myself in that area though. I would like to convince myself that people are inherently good, but it's not the easiest task... Ok, maybe science will have nothing to do with it... but I do believe that as time goes on, fewer and fewer people will believe in God or any other kind of religion. (Again, that's just -my- belief.) Now... How did I manage to turn a "Dem Convention" thread into a religious thread??? Oops...
-
Libraries still exist!!?? Ever since Al Gore invented the Internet, I have not had the attention span to read an entire book!

I don't really have a problem with people being taught morals through religion, but I do question whether it actually works. A lot of the people who I consider to be immoral - do believe in God and probably learned their morals through religion. I also believe that is part of the reason "God" was invented - as a source for moral training. But what happens if people realize that God does not exist? Perhaps someday science will be able to give enough proof to convince the majority. If everyone is only being "good" because religion has taught them to, what will happen then? I would just like to think that human beings have the ability to think and reason, to instinctively know what is right and what is wrong... and to act accordingly simply because it feels better to do the right thing. But this is where I start questioning whether I am expecting too much of humans...
