I don't think he was trying to diagnose you. When most people use the word "delusional," they are using the dictionary definition, not the DSM-IV criteria. And I think the dictionary definition worked just fine for what he was trying to say, even if it wasn't a very nice thing to say.

See SkyDekker's post #570. It seems to be a power and control issue with you. What is your fear with faith? He doesn't sound afraid to me; he sounds annoyed. And if I had grown up with religion being heavily pushed on me, I'd probably be a lot more annoyed with it as well. And I have to agree that your attempts to "diagnose" people in SC are pretty obnoxious, though amusing at times.

Olympic swimmers in hot water after gun photo
Shotgun replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
But I'm sure it would be inappropriate for the shooting team to post pictures of themselves swimming. -
In case you haven't you noticed, I've been laying on the indifference pretty thick, lately. You know, it's hard to be upset with someone if he truly believes in the heaven/hell thing and has genuine concern for others' well-being. It makes sense that this person would want to spread the word to others in the most positive way possible in order to attract others to what he believes is salvation. And I know a lot of Christians who would fit this description. But unfortunately, the "concern" often takes the form of defensiveness when one feels his beliefs have been insulted. "Well I'll be sittin' pretty in Heaven while you'll be burning forever in Hell, and you'll be sorry then!" That sort of thing. And that certainly doesn't come across as genuine concern. (I know some Christians who fit this description as well, and they're people I wouldn't likely choose as friends.)

If the person had obviously never been where I'm going, and his only information was from some 2000-year-old stories and personal visions/feelings/illusions, I probably wouldn't tell him to fuck off, but I'd take the advice for what it's worth (little to nothing). And since the "travels" you are referring to relates to what happens after death, there is no one alive who could give me any first-hand information about what to expect there.

Really? I'm pretty much the only verbally barbed christian here . . . You're pretty up-front with your feelings toward people who say negative things about your beliefs. There are others on here who take a more smug or patronizing tone. (But again, it comes from both sides.) Edit to say: And I'm probably guilty of this too. If you have an opinion, it's pretty difficult to discuss the subject of religion or "God"/"No God" without sounding offensive to those who disagree with you.

Ah, nice play to get the conversation away from B.C.'s BJ.
-
You will see proof that God prefers the drugs caffeine and nicotine over alcohol and weed.
-
Ya know, if Clinton had never lied about that BJ, then Zimmerman might have had more faith in the law. And then he might have just stayed in his vehicle on that fateful night to wait for the police, and this thread would never have existed, and we wouldn't be at 80-something-pages talking about Clinton getting a BJ. Fucking Democrats.

NM Court: Christian Business Owners Have No Rights
Shotgun replied to RonD1120's topic in Speakers Corner
I was curious in this story if the photographers had made a point to advertise themselves as a Christian business or not, but I couldn't find any information about that. Actually, I found this copy of the "Decision and Final Order." http://www.boxturtlebulletin.com/btb/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/elane.pdf Doesn't sound like the photographers in any way advertised themselves as a Christian business. It sounds like they used mainstream advertising, and it doesn't sound like they made any reference to their religious beliefs through their advertising or correspondence with potential customers. Not that it would probably matter in a discrimination case. But if they were clearly and openly a Christian business, I would think the same-sex couple was being a little obnoxious. However, it doesn't sound like that was the case. -

Father beats man to death for sexually abusing his daughter...
Shotgun replied to wildcard451's topic in Speakers Corner
There really isn't enough information to say one way or another. Another story I read about this said the father caught the man "attempting" to molest his daughter, whatever that means??? And was it necessary to use deadly force to stop him? I mean, I can see the "crime of passion" thing here, but there isn't enough info to know what actually happened. http://news.yahoo.com/texas-rancher-beats-death-alleged-child-molester-214000340.html;_ylt=A2KJNF.cwNhPYUMArvPQtDMD -
Texas highway to have the highest speed limit in the nation
Shotgun replied to JohnRich's topic in The Bonfire
I-10 That road is so long you need to file for residency before you can get out of state....even at 85. Yes, that is one long, straight road..... I remember when I moved from Austin out to Perris, I was not going to stop until I got out of Texas, and it took forever.... I've made that drive several times now, and it always takes me one day to drive through CA, AZ, and NM to get to Las Cruces, NM, and then another whole day to drive across Texas. Oh, I'll be doing that again in a few weeks. Except this time, I'm going to drive north through the Palo Duro Canyon on the way home. -
It's just one example. These religious threads often provide a lot of examples from both sides. Though some people only seem to see one side of it. Part of the reason I stopped calling myself an atheist is because too many other atheists give the word a bad name.
-
I can't find anything at all about this. The closest thing that comes up is some blogger speculating that what if Trayvon had really said something like, "This mother fucker is gonna be sorry he messed with me?"

I was thinking I-10 out of El Paso was already 85, but I guess it's just 80. -
I can't seem to find anything about her changing her story. Do you know what was changed?
-
I've only heard one version of her story. What was it that she changed?
-
So Zimmerman won't be able to testify about anything that Martin said to him? And the other witnesses can't testify that they heard someone saying, "Help"? Or about anything else that Zimmerman said to them? I've been on a trial. There was a lot of testimony from witnesses about what other people said. So I'm not sure where you're getting that from?

NM Court: Christian Business Owners Have No Rights
Shotgun replied to RonD1120's topic in Speakers Corner
Personally, I think a business owner should have to right to choose whom they want to do business with. OK, so basically this is not a Christian thing. But it was a nice sensationalistic thread title. -
See, pops, this comes from both sides.
-
Not really. Trayvon's girlfriend's description of her phone conversation with him is in conflict with Zimmerman's description of what happened. It pretty much backs up the idea that GZ pursued and confronted TM, so I don't really think he has an easy out.

NM Court: Christian Business Owners Have No Rights
Shotgun replied to RonD1120's topic in Speakers Corner
Do you think a photography business should be able to refuse service to an interracial couple if that is something that violates the owner's morals?
