    The answer is probably quite similar to why there are such things as the Christian Skydivers Assocation, who "originated as a way for skydivers who are believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ to recognize one another and establish fellowship on the drop zone." (from their website) So, as several people have already mentioned, I believe the answer has something to do with fellowship.

    Gay skydivers make up a very small percentage of our population. If I was a gay skydiver, I would probably enjoy a day of getting to hang out and skydive with a bunch of other gay skydivers. It would be a completely different vibe than a normal day at the dz, and it's fun to have different vibes sometimes... Hmm, and actually gay day sounds like fun even though I'm not gay...

    Well what did you expect from a dude called "Freewind"? (Sorry, I just had to say that. ) I suspect that the tattoo industry is sort of like the skydiving industry and the people are going to be a bit more free-spirited (and therefore "flaky") than in some other businesses. I'd probably forgive the calling in sick with a hangover thing, but I would have gone somewhere else too if he never returned my call - that's not cool. I think it's important to have a good experience when getting a tattoo - to me, the experience is as important as the tattoo... which is one of the reasons I am considering having some traditional work done... and I would prefer to get to know the tattoo artist a bit beforehand...

    Thanks for all the replies... I think the Polynesian-type stuff is what I was looking for. I didn't know about the risk of infection being worse than the modern type of tattoo, but I suppose that makes sense. And I don't think that I know Marybeth, but I'll find her next time I'm at the dz... That link to Black Wave tattoo had some interesting stuff, and some links to tattoo conventions that might be fun...

    I've had this song in my head since you posted it... but I have to say that it always makes me think of "swinging"... since it was pretty much the theme song of "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice." (I love that movie.)

    Ok, so no one is actually capable of grossing me out (I hope!), so I was making that up... I suppose... ... Actually, anyone can have whatever they want at any of my tea parties... I'm not too fussy about that... But nevertheless... cake is always good.

    So, just out of curiosity... If polygamous marriages were suddenly on the ballot... would you vote to allow them or to ban them? Personally, I don't care if others want to take on multiple husbands or wives... but I do think that that may be a valid insurance/benefit question...

    I don't recall seeing him say that polygamy is ok to be denied. I suspect that there are plenty of folks who would prefer to see a man having many wives than to see a man married to another man... After all, the Bible promotes men treating women as property, but it condemns homosexuality.

    The question came up because some have said that they think homosexuality is a choice, and that doesn't seem to have been proven either way... So I am curious how they feel about a situation that is obviously not a choice... There are people that have been born intersexual - with both male and female reproductive organs and genitalia (yes, some are more male than female and vice versa, but some are right in between)... So, with the idea that a legal marriage should be between one man and one woman, should these people not be allowed to marry?

    Same-sex marriages took place in ancient Rome and even in North America among some Native American tribes, and probably in other cultures where Christianity was not an influence. This is slightly off-topic, but now I am curious... How do you feel about people who are born with both male and female sex organs - do you think they should be allowed to get married?

    I thought the norm in US culture was adult heterosexual, consensual, pretend-to-be-monogamous sex. Speaking of which, I find it rather bizarre that Bill Clinton of all people was the president to sign the Defense of Marriage Act.

    I don't have much respect or use for the opinions of therapists who will publicly claim that something is NOT a mental disorder when they truly believe that it IS; they are doing a disservice to their entire profession. And if they do not have evidence from empirical research to show that homosexuality is truly a mental disorder then I would guess their opinion is coming from their own preconceived and biased ideas of how things "should be" anyway.

    Most psychologists would disagree with you. And it sort of sounds like you are comparing homosexuality to pedophilia here, but I'm really hoping that's not how you meant it...
