Kris, I got your PM, and I would like to do the walk, but I need to think about it a bit more before making a commitment. If I do go, it would be great if there are other people from the Perris/Elsinore area that I could carpool with.

I order from the County Line. It's probably not my favorite Texas BBQ, but it's pretty good, and it's a million times better than any BBQ here in California. I like to order from them because I can buy fairly small amounts at a time. I'd like to order from the Iron Works in Austin, but they only seem to sell large combination packs that include things I don't want. My mom and stepdad have probably eaten at McMillan's. They always try new BBQ places when they're on road trips, especially if the place has been listed in the Texas Monthly best BBQ articles. They live in Kingsland, and there are lots of great mom-and-pop BBQ joints around there.

Well, I don't see posting your opinion in SC as trying to force your way of life onto someone else. As for being against the norm, one could argue that skydiving is against the norm. And perhaps it's not cool for skydivers to be having children because the children are at a much higher risk for having to deal with the death of a parent than they would be if their parents did not engage in such high-risk activities. (That, and they'll likely grow up confused, thinking they have to buy beer when they take their first steps, or their first day of school, etc., etc. )

I would have no problem discussing this in person, and I would tell you that I disagree with you. And I would also tell you that comparing this to bestiality is ridiculous. Not looking for an argument, just stating my opinion.

Here is an article that he wrote about the couple's decision for him to carry their baby: http://www.advocate.com/issue_story_ektid52664.asp (Warning: It's an LGBT website, so don't click on it if you're freaked out by that kind of stuff.) I don't think his gender will have anything to do with whether they will make good parents or not. There are plenty of "normal" people who are lousy parents.

I have two sisters, probably not anywhere near as psycho as I am. (I'm definitely the black sheep.) One is married, but the other might be looking.... though she has a long list of requirements for Mr. Right, and I'm pretty sure that a skydiver would be on the "not acceptable" list. I think I'll be going to visit them in Texas in a few weeks, and I'll probably make them eat lots of BBQ with me while I'm there (as I always do).

My money is on J.P. Furnari OK, now that was funny.

Ah, when I read this, I was expecting the link to be about the new line dancing craze in France: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article4036375.ece

Yeah, you definitely haven't been around me enough if you're saying that. I'm too psycho for most men to deal with. And Rich doesn't even eat red meat, so he doesn't share my love for good brisket. He probably prefers quiche to BBQ. Have fun at work.
-
Then you haven't been around me enough. I am a BBQ fiend when I'm in Texas. But all I do in California is bitch about how bad the BBQ is out here. I even have it shipped from Texas sometimes, just so I can get a fix.

Well, that's a good topic, though not likely to go very far in SC. And it's not what the point of this thread was. It seems that the point of this thread was to say that if we don't know what caused the Big Bang then there must be a creator/god. And even if that proved that there was a creator/god (which it doesn't), it still wouldn't have anything to do with living a fulfilling life or making sense out of the chaos. If there was a way to prove the existence of a creator, it would still leave the question of whether that creator loved us or hated us, or cared nothing for us at all. (Yes, I know that some of you believe you have the answer to that, so there is no need to repeat it.) So basically, this thread was started by a Christian, not to talk about how to make one's life better, but as an illogical attempt to prove atheists/agnostics wrong. (But at least it wasn't as atagonistic as the thread that was started to make fun of Christianity.) Anyhow, I think I'll now go find something more peaceful to do than posting on SC. Have a good day.

How about a basejumper.com vs dropzone.com rumble?
Shotgun replied to freeflymickey's topic in The Bonfire
A rumble? I think that hashing it out over a mean game of CandyLand would be more appropriate. -
But if we all say the same stuff over and over and over again, in as many different threads as possible, someone SOMEONE will eventually change his/her opinion on the subject. Or maybe not.

I listened to some of James's music last night. The political stuff did stand out, but I liked the music a lot. And I haven't seen the movie, but I remember when it was on TV (a long time ago!). I'm sort of glad I didn't know who played the characters while I was reading the book, because that left it up to my imagination. (I remember when I read Interview with the Vampire, I couldn't picture Lestat and Louis as anyone other than Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, since I had already seen the movie.) But I'd like to see the movie now.

Wow, I just finished this book, and I think it is now one of my favorite books that I've ever read. He is such a great writer that I felt like I personally knew all of the characters and that I was right there with them throughout their journeys. I can't even remember the last time I was that absorbed in a book - maybe about 20 years ago when I read the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Anyone else love this book?

U.S. leads world in substance abuse, WHO finds
Shotgun replied to Butters's topic in Speakers Corner
Well they're also talking about people who have tried tobacco or alcohol at some point in their lives, so I guess they're saying that that is substance abuse too? -
U.S. leads world in substance abuse, WHO finds
Shotgun replied to Butters's topic in Speakers Corner
That's interesting. The headline mentions drug abuse, while all of the stats mentioned in the article pertain to drug use. And a lot of the stats quoted only pertain to people who have tried a certain drug at some time in their lives, which hardly has anything to do with levels of abuse. -
A summer boogie at Perris? While there may not be as many women as there were at Chicks Rock, there will likely still be a lot of attractive women (some half-naked), and a lot of partying going on at night.

I used to use DavesGarden.com a lot. In fact, there are still a bunch of pictures from my garden on there. But it seems that it got to a point where a lot of things were "subscription only," and I thought about paying the fee but decided it wasn't worth it, so I mostly quit using the site after that.

That sounds like a good idea. But I wonder if there would be squabbles over who was picking the most fruit? And I wish our boysenberry bush was thornless! It's been nice going out there in the mornings to get fresh berries for my cereal, but I've gotten scratched up pretty good a few times.

What is it that you disagree with the most about his political views?
-
Well, when I run into him in Hell, I'll be sure to ask him about it.

I don't know that Pascal addressed that question. A shortcoming in his logic, perhaps. Yes, and he also seems to assume that God would not be smart enough to know if he truly believed or if he was pretending to believe "just in case." I don't know. I guess the wager might make someone feel more comfortable if they're on the fence about whether to believe or not. But it doesn't seem very logical to me.
