I am convinced that there is a message somewhere in this video about who I should vote for, but I haven't found it yet.
-
Well, you probably hit like a girl.

That's a tough question, but I guess I'll say New Orleans. It's such a dark and romantic city. I love walking around the Garden District at night in the rain, or walking in City Park during the day in the rain, or walking through the French Quarter in the rain... And I love the swamps around that area, and the Mississippi River... I seriously considered moving there before, but it didn't seem like a good idea at the time. I'd still consider it though, if I was going to move again. (Though I'll most likely move back to Austin when I get ready to move.) And I can't believe you thought the people in London were nice. I couldn't believe how rude the people were when I went there. But it was probably just a cultural thing, with me being from Texas. It is an interesting city though.

Otherwise known as the "taint."

I am open to the possibility that some sort of god exists, but I consider myself an atheist because I don't believe that a god exists. And I don't consider myself agnostic because I believe that if a god does exist, then there must be some way to prove it (even if we don't have a way yet). But as of yet, I have absolutely no reason to believe any of the various myths that have been created by people to "explain" the unknown.

Not believing in a human-created god does not equal closing one's mind to possibilities.
-
That's cool. I'm glad to hear that it's working for you.
-
Yes, but I was just asking you because you told me to. And you didn't answer my second question. (Though I'm guessing that it was mostly YOU that helped you to turn your life around.)

Amy Winehouse collapses: Should I give a f*ck?!
Shotgun replied to RastaRicanAir's topic in The Bonfire
One of the main headlines on Yahoo yesterday was about some tennis player chick and how she was planning to wear shorts to the next Wimbledon instead of a skirt. Now THAT's newsworthy. -
So, have you seen any evidence of the existence of a god? And what was it that helped you to turn your life around? (Obviously it wasn't a personal relationship with Jesus, since you're an atheist.)

I don't see why a Muslim alcoholic would be in any more serious trouble than a non-Muslim alcoholic. I mean, yes, their religion forbids alcohol, and they may live in a country where it is illegal. But I would think those facts might make it easier for them to recover compared to (for example) a Catholic alcoholic living in the U.S. where alcohol is widely available and socially acceptable (and even served at some church functions).

I once used one of these things to toilet train a cat: http://www.citikitty.com/. But I had two cats, and while one of them learned to use the toilet, the other one didn't, so I had to stick with the litter box. And I've had a ton of cat scratches, but I guess I'm lucky because I've never had one get infected or even take a long time to heal. (Hmm, am I jinxing myself now by saying that???)
-
Yep, that is evidence that the belief in a god can have a positive effect on a person's life. But it is not evidence that a god exists.

I once made the mistake of picking one of my cats up when he had been spooked by another cat, and he freaked out and bit me on the forehead. I went to the urgent care place the next day and got some antibiotics, but the day after that I was so sick and my head so swollen that I had to go to the ER and get a big shot of antibiotics. Now I stay well away from my cats when they're pissed off. And if I need to break up a fight, I've found that a spray bottle or a water hose works well. I hope you're feeling better now!

No, it's not. I have plenty of love in my life without believing that a god exists. Of course it intrigues me. But as far as I know, no one (including any of the religions) really knows what happens after death. I think that probably nothing happens (other than physical decay), because we're just physical beings, but I really don't know.

Sheesh, so the teachers can't spank the students, and now you want to take away their right to brand them as well???? And I'll bet that none of those students could explain to him what happened to cause the Big Bang, so it makes perfect sense that he should start branding crosses on their arms.

There are a lot of things that I don't know or understand, but I don't see that lack of knowledge/understanding as an indication that some sort of god exists. Especially since I have seen no evidence of the existence of a god. Typical BS answer. To be so bold to say that your god exists, I would think that you would have some pretty solid answers about the origins of your god. (And that is definitely not a solid answer.)
-
My answer would be "I don't know." Why would you expect an atheist to know everything about how the universe came into existence? And then why do you not expect Christians to know how their god came into existence?

OK, who let you boys out of Speaker's Corner? Get back in your cage where you belong.

Aside from the blood coming out of her nose, she looks like a vampire who just finished drinking someone's blood.

What would you do with a cheating girlfriend?

Well then I guess we'll just have to disagree on that one. -
"Why" by Bob Flanagan: There is also a really good documentary about Bob's life, Sick: The Life & Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist. (If you haven't already seen it.)

Hmm.... Well, if the sex is THAT good, then they can treat me however they want to. -

A swinging lifestyle is just as likely to have trust in it as a non-swinging lifestyle is. -

In practical jokes and water balloon fights, yes, revenge is sweet. But in situations like this, revenge is just stupid. If I feel like someone is treating me like crap, and that it's not likely to change, I just want to get that person out of my life. I wouldn't want to waste any more of my time and energy trying to get revenge on them. It is much more empowering to just walk away and leave them with their own conscience to deal with. (I'm not suggesting that's what okie should do, since I don't know enough about what happened to have an opinion about what he should do.)
