To be honest, I don't think I understand enough about the science behind the Big Bang theory to be able to agree or disagree with it. And, while it's an interesting subject, I can't say that I spend much time thinking about the origin of the universe. Though I do tend to think that there was never a time when "nothing" existed. If the Big Bang was the beginning of the world as we know it, I believe that it likely had a cause, and that the universe (or whatever it should be called) likely existed in some form before that. But this subject has little to do with my not believing in any gods. I was an atheist long before I heard anything about the Big Bang theory.

Yeah, that was probably my favorite childhood book too. Let the wild rumpus start.... And in searching for that, I found that there is a "Where the Wild Things Are" movie scheduled to come out in October of next year.

I wonder how many people have actually heard that song ... if you haven't, you should. I used to have a tape with that on it, but most of my tapes are useless now. It's a cool song, but probably not my favorite. It wins for the best title though. It's hard to pick a favorite Pink Floyd song. Too many to choose from. Great Gig in the Sky, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here... Those are probably my favorite three, but I have a special attachment to the whole Wall album as well, especially Nobody Home, One of My Turns, Comfortably Numb . . .

Right, but if you find that you need to use the semicolon the way that Andy used it in his example, then it would probably be better to reconsider your sentence structure so that you don't need to use more than one semicolon. Perhaps make another sentence?
-
I think that it's permissible, but it's usually advised to use the semicolon sparingly, so it would probably be best to not use it in that manner.

You're scary.

Maybe they're gonna high-five each other and do belly slaps while they're kicking the trains around.

I'd go if he was offering real crab meat instead of that imitation stuff. And, well, I'm not a guy anyway. But playing monsters does sound like fun.
-
Yes. But about the only time you would use more than one semicolon in a sentence is when you are listing sort of long phrases that may use commas too.

I'm guessing that they already do pull people over for these things, if it's causing the person to drive in an unsafe manner. I'm also guessing that cell phones were causing enough of a problem that they saw fit to make regulations specific to cell phone use. (No source for that, just guessing.)

I think it will make a bit of a difference, not sure how much. That would probably be similar to the situation mentioned here:

I'll let you touch my fake nut if you give it to me. (Does that line really work?) Actually, I don't even know what an iPhone is, so it's probably something I don't need. Sounds like it would be another thing that would sit around ringing while I ignore it.

Torture might work. Well, unless he likes it.

Yeah, that's a good one too. Check out Doyle Bramhall Sr. version as well.....he was good friends with SRV and they worked this song out together. I have met Dolye a few times after shows and he is a great guy.

Raising our kids in religion. I'm anti, she's pro
Shotgun replied to Twoply's topic in Speakers Corner
As a non-religious (and usually non-church-attending) person, I don't see letting my children decide whether they want to go to church as laissez-faire parenting. But I can see that, to a religious person, it might be. I see my responsibility (should I become a parent) as making sure my children are educated about the various religions, but I can't really control what they will end up believing. I'm not sure how I would feel if they chose Christianity or some other religion that I don't believe in, but I probably wouldn't stop them from pursuing that avenue if that was what they really wanted (depending on the circumstances). That doesn't mean that I would just let them have free reign to do whatever they wanted in all areas of life. -
I'm pretty sure he only gives two options in all of his polls, so you have one too many to be in the JohnRich fashion. I think it's a great thing to tell other people what they should do. I tell people what to do all the time, even though no one usually listens to me. But it's probably not a great idea to pass a difficult-to-enforce law that will mostly waste the cops' time when they could be protecting people from more dangerous things.

Crumpets and Marmite.

I don't know what to tell you. I'm pretty sure I would never marry a Christian, much less have kids with one. -
How cute! Where did you find that?

That's one of my favorite songs to play on my guitar and sing along with when I'm feeling down. (And, knowing that I suck, I only do this when no one else is around. ) Yeah, that's a good one too.

You See A Skydiver In the Middle of O'Hare ... What Do you Do?
Shotgun replied to NWFlyer's topic in The Bonfire
Geronimo! We saw some people in skydiving shirts at Bangkok Chef in Temecula last night, but then we see people in skydiving shirts about 50% of the time when we eat there (and we eat there a lot). And I guess I've been away from the dz for too long now, because I hardly ever recognize any of them anymore. -
I would have a good laugh at anyone who offered to give me his autograph when I hadn't asked for it.

Well, you could do your work and not dick around, and then you wouldn't need to worry about it.
