Nope. He’s an asshole too. He has his points (relatively free rein to the Washington Post), just as Musk has his. Wendy P.

It takes you to a 404 page, but only when I got into the forum by using the "first unread post" link on the right using a laptop. Not when I just go into the forum (as when I use the phone). Wendy P.

I'll agree that Musk can be a visionary. I'll also agree that he can be a thoroughgoing asshole. One neither excuses nor explains the other. And, quite frankly, his moderation of X is pretty one-sided. Wendy P.

He used to be very open to two-way discussion. Firm in his views, but able to discuss. I enjoyed having him on the forum. Something changed, kind of like with some other posters; maybe life, maybe right-wing news sources that aim to divide. Either way, to me it’s a shame. As far as ban status, the new dz.com software is what it is; it’s unlikely to change, particularly when you consider the relatively low usage of the site. Wendy P.

Ummm — let’s quit it here too. No trolling, by anyone. Wendy P.

We’re done here. Stop slinging shit. And just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean prior action wasn’t taken Wendy P.

Hey — ain’t nothing worse than calling someone a woman! Wendy P.

There’s a difference between being a soldier, even SF, and being a professional killer. The defenders in the Battle of Britain were also professional killers by that definition; their primary job was to defend against the blitzkrieg, but they were certainly authorized to kill, too. I may disagree with Jay politically and religiously, but everything Ive heard about him, and have learned from other SF soldiers, is that he’s an honorable, and very conservative, man Wendy P.

Agreed. The problem is that women are being harmed during this overreach. As a human being (of the female variety), I find that problematic. Going with a stricter interpretation, one has to wonder just how strict. Given that in the Bible it says that God knows us from before conception, does that mean that birth control is taboo, or does that mean that if the woman or man says "I have a headache tonight" they've just messed with that? I'm definitely pro-choice. I'm also pro support for single parents, so that ones who choose to keep and raise their babies don't suffer too much. Yeah, it's fine to say "she should have kept her legs closed," but that's not real helpful, and it's punishing the baby, and possibly everyone that person the baby becomes in the future. Wendy P.

I did it the easy way. Moved there when I was 5, went to Brazilian schools until 7th grade. Portuguese isn’t as easy as some people think; way mor irregular verbs and pronunciation than Spanish Wendy P.

Why are you studying Portuguese? (As my now-husband said when I told him I spoke it fluently, No one speaks Portuguese!) Moving to Bonaire? It’d be worth it! Wendy P.

I have a cousin in Clearwater; he lost part of his porch to Helene, but so far so good with Milton. Water came within an inch of flooding (he lives on a little pond), but is receding now. No power, of course. His sister lives in Asheville; she also still has her house. So my cousins are feeling pretty lucky. Wendy P.

I’m so glad you addressed both my and Sjydekker’s points so thoroughly. oh wait… Wendy P.

Now THAT’s worth an emoji! Wendy P.

I really like the “minus the radiation” part Wendy P.

Oh, NEVER say that to an ENTJ! You have to tell them that you're "offloading unnecessary minutiae" instead. Wendy P.

I'm sorry, but a single EV getting stranded trumps 1000 gas cars running out of gas. Because we're used to gas cars running out (and we can blame them for being improvident), but those EV cars -- now THAT's news! Wendy P.

Actually, Diversity is an attempt to strengthen products and ideas by including people with a variety of social backgrounds. "othered" people still buy things, and they include considerations that people for whom everything magically works don't think about, and consider the range of people who are going to read their documentation or use their product better. Equity is an attempt to treat people in a work or other organized environment in a fair manner -- don't assume that a single negative characteristic disqualifies the minority/woman, while assuming that a single positive characteristic qualifies the majority/man. Note that in some worlds, the men aren't dominant, or maybe English-speakers, and should also be treated equitably. Inclusion is the attempt to provide actual equal opportunity to people who have never even been able to make it to the starting line because of (yes) institutionalized racism, sexism, ableism, etc. Woke simply means that you understand that just because there's a law against something doesn't mean enough has been done. There were (according to Statista.com) nearly 4600 lynchings between 1882 and 1968. This may not be an exact count, there were undoubtedly ones that never made the news. Note that it's by no means a white-on-black crime only; there were over a thousand white victims (including Hispanic and Asian, though specifics aren't in there). The fact that there were so many kind of indicates that laws aren't enough, wouldn't you say? Wendy P.

How're you doing, Ron? Did the hurricane damage where you are? Wendy P.

It must be really hard to deal with this; I think the system is broken everywhere, it sure is here in the US. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. Wendy P.

Well, that post is 13 years old. Wendy P.

My Kia Niro is the Hyundai Kona in a Kia suit. A pure EV didn't suit my needs when I needed a car (two long, regular, trips), but of my 17000 miles, 12000 of them are done on electric power. And since electric power is less than gasoline even when it comes from the utility, that's a win in my book. Wendy P.

I have a Kia Niro (PHEV, but still), and it’s been solid as a rock so far. A friend who owns an Ioniq really likes it, too. And she’s 92, so it’s by no means impossible to adapt to. Wendy P.
