No we are talking about who has the right to make choices regarding the direction someone wishes to make in their life. You Pro-lifers are all too willing to take these choices away from the woman. Why? It appears to be related to your religious beliefs. But maybe I am wrong. Why are you trying to control the destiny of someone else's life? And the pro-lifers are all too willing to take the choice away from women as to how they wish to lead their lives. So pro-lifers what is it? Who has more rights? The woman or the fetus? Simple question looking for a simple answer. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Would you ground launch this? ....

No wind with a 270 and those jagged rocks? What's your wingloading on the 270? Probably way to light for no wind. But if do do it, do two things. Get some good health insurance and make sure you get video. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

I'd be willing to bet that in the vast majority of the cases where a woman had an abortion, the father was in it for only one reason. Sex. Men should not be playing the victim game here. Sure they may be isolated cases ... but if the man truly cared about him female partner he would honor her wishes. We have it easy ... we're not the ones going through the pregnancy. All the while taking away the rights of the woman. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

This should apply to everyone ... male/female/mutants (LOL) ... it's our lives and no one elses. I am all about having choices in life. The moment we let the authorities tell us how to live, is the moment we give up or indepedence. It's funny how many of the Pro-Lifers are all about America's freedom of choice ... yet they want to take that freedom away from people on this and other issues. I'm thinking of a Bon Jovi song right now "It's my life, now or never" Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

If it takes a woman 1 second to decide "I don't want to be pregnant", then I support her decision. But to throw a curve ball into the thread, if she is married, she should consult her husband. I still say the ultimate decision should be hers (I know that sounds kind of contradictory), but marriage is supposed to be a partnership and maybe the husband could present an argument why they should have the baby. But ... not to sound like a broken record ... it is her body, her life and she is the one who must endure the pregnancy and ultimately I feel it should be her decision. I know there is no shortage of people who feel I am full of it. I'm just putting my two cents on the table ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

That depends on how long you want to take before you deploy your reserve and how much altitude you had to begin with. What are our three priorities? 1) Pull 2) Pull on time 3) Pull Stable I like deploying my main well above the decision altitude to give myself the most options available. But I have deployed my reserve while I was still spinning on 2 of my 3 cutaways ... and I'm still here. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Please go back and read where I said I do not want governments involved. Of course I am not female so I do not know what emotions would go through a woman's mind when she finds out she is pregnant. My stance is that hopefully she thinks carefully about all of the options which are available to her and that she consults her spouse (if there is a spouse). But whatever choice she feels is right for her life is the choice I support. Once again I strongly believe that she should be allowed to control her own destiny. Huh? what am I missing here? Have I all of a sudden been grouped into the pro-lifers side of the argument? Am I just daft or could you have worded this another way because I am saying "let the woman decided her own fate". Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Well I guess the crux our our disagreement is that I do not view abortion as murder (even though I do recognize it as the killing of an innocent life). My view is that the rights of the woman who has a heart beat and is breathing oxygen trumps the rights of the fetus growing in her body. Now don't get me wrong here people. I am not advocating easy access to abortion as a form of convenient birth control. One would hope that the pregnant woman investigates all her options such as adoption before she considers to have an abortion. But I still say the ultimate decision should be hers. It is her body and her life and the last people who should get involved are governments. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You see you are more concerned about the label of the crime than the punishment. I say throw the book at the scum who assaults a pregnant woman. I don't care what you want to call it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

No however ... is it possible to wage war without killing innocent people? Once again ... no But it's funny that so many pro-lifers (not saying you are this way Butters since I don't know your politics) are so kean to back their president to go ahead and wage war. but to get off of the war topic and back to abortion ... From my vantage point the vast majority of the pro-lifers are religious people and it appears that they are so concerned about the souls of the unborn. Well I'm sorry to all the religious people out there (once again not direct at Butters since I do not know nor do I care about your religious views), there is absolutely no proof that we humans have souls. We will only know if we have souls when we as individuals leave this world. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

That will depend on the locals laws where this assault occurred. But why do you present your argument in such a manner that assault is not a serious crime? Assault is assault. One person is doing harm to another and hopefully the jurisdiction where this crime occurs has the balls to throw the book at the perpetrator when such a serious offense is to occur. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Who's rights trump who? Are the rights of the unborn fetus more important than the rights of the woman who is alive and carries this fetus? Why is she not allowed to have a decision on the direction her life is to take? This is yet another example of a man trying to control the lives of women. It's unfortunate that Canada as a whole is oblivious to the fact that one of our own is the best high performance canopy pilots in the world. I recently caught some CBC show were they highlighted some world class snowmobiler and while that dude has some extreme talent, Jay also possesses some extreme talent that I'm sure many 'nucks would be happy to hear about. Of course Jay's rein as the best is always subject since the talent level in the pro ranks has never been more competitive as it is right now. Well to get back on topic, I am of the firm belief that ultimately the final decision should be left up to the woman who has to carry this new potential life in her body and to allow governments to tell us otherwise what we can and can not do with our lives is just wrong. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

So you don't feel that men have not been fucking over and controlling women for all these years. Okay ... I guess you're allowed to have that opinion. Not all men are assholes. Some men are actually good men. But I have the opinion that we as a gender do not have a very good track record that we should be proud of when it comes to the way we treat our female counterparts. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
-
When there is a spouse involved, the woman should be under a moral obligation to consult with her counterpart about the future of this potential life. But let's not forget the rights of the woman to decide her own destiny and the fact that we the male gender have been fucking over and controlling the females for eions. It's about time we start showing our sisters more respect and allowing them to decide the direction they want their lives to take. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Hopefully you are aware that birth control methods are not always 100% reliable and they do sometimes fail and that the woman can still become pregnant even after exercising caution. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I think if you don't own the uterus, then it's probably none of your fucking business. Agreed ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

By default they aren’t automatically faster. The speed is a by-product. The x-braced canopy is rigid wing because of the cross braces. If you look at the connection points between each cell on a traditional canopy versus that of the x-braced version, you will see that the traditional canopy has it’s rounded edges between each cell while the x-braced is much flatter. The traditional canopy looses some lift because of the rounded edges on the top skin between cells while the x-braced canopy maintains more lift because the air is allowed to flow smoother over the flatter airfoil. Also because it is a rigid wing, it allows a much high wing loading and this is where the speed comes in. Oh and they also tend to be thinner wings with higher aspect ratios resulting in less drag. The x-braced canopy is incredibly efficient. They can be flown straight in (you do not need to swoop them) and you will automatically notice how much better of a flare they will have. But they are also a beast. When things go wrong, they go wrong real fast. One or two spinning rotations in a matter of seconds during an opening malfunction can result in an altitude loss of a 1000 feet or more. Plus even in full flight, they travel across the sky much faster than the traditional canopy and everything happens just that much faster. So because of this you don’t want inexperienced people flying them. Everything from openings, to potential altitude lose, to flying in the pattern to landings happen faster on the x-braced canopy. They allow for a higher wing loading, meaning more speed and since they are more efficient when it comes to lift, they can be swooped across the ground further. I’m sure a Brian Germain type character could explain it better than this … Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I feel the choice should be left to the woman with some input from her spouse (if there is a spouse). It is her body and her life. She should be given the ultimate choice in her own destiny. To have the state (the government) tell her what she can and can not do with her life is just wrong. Just my two cents on the matter. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Hi Sparky I see a couple of issues with your thread. 1) You are not offering any solutions – but unfortunately I don’t have any easy ones either. 2) I see the “entitlement generation” you speak of as just an extension of society as a whole. Just look around you and you see the same behavior on the roads, in the schools and or in the business community. We live in a "me me" instant gratification world. Now I sure as hell want to continue jumping well into my old age. But I am seeing a downward trend in my own jumping and the only way to counteract this trend is when getting to the dropzones is convenient, fun and affordable. When we have to drive hours and hours just to get to the dropzone and we don’t know if we will even be able to get on some loads due to shitty weather or a DZ which caters to tandems or specialize students and shuns other types of jumpers, well it’s easy to stay at home and do something else. Related to this, the dropzone environment must be fun. If it is not, well it’s easier to stay at home and do some other fun things. Finally it must be affordable. If we are looking at spending time and tons of money at a place that is not fun, well … you get the picture. But unfortunately anything related to aviation is going to be expensive. The DZs are not in business to lose money. If we as skydivers want this sport to be here in the future we all need to make it more convenient, more fun and affordable. It’s up to the DZOs, their staff, the competitive skydivers and fun jumpers to save the sport. It’s a collective effort. In some parts of the world skydiving is growing ... in other parts it is going the other way. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
