  1. A Cracker Jack box. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. Here in Canada there is a sales/service tax for breathing and exhauling (they like to double dip). Well not quiet that bad ... but give the Feds/Provinces a few more years and you just know they will be bring it in. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. I was a passenger in a serious car accident back in the early 80s (a split second sooner into the intersection and I wouldn't be here). To this day that is the closest I have come to death. Hell ya I'm on bonus days. I have also had a couple of questionable freefly related freefall close calls and have been in the corner under canopy while learning to swoop. But I'm not so sure those rank up there like that car accident. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. I don't want slow canopies in the swoop lanes as much as you do. But the bottom line is, if there is a canopy below you and safe seperation does not exist, YOU HAVE TO ABORT!!! Do you swoop the swoop course when the swooper in front of you crashes? Do you swoop if you stack up on the guy in front of you? NO YOU ABORT. I'm in favor of the ideas behind these BSR proposals. I just don't feel that an actual BSR is needed. Each and every DZ needs to adopt a landing policy that serves their DZ, we need to educate people how to fly their canopies and then not tolerate unsafe behavior under canopy regardless if they are a newbie, a wannabee or the experienced DZ employee. And finally we need to keep our eyes open and know when to abort. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. What is more productive? Taking the issue to the grass roots where the DZOs are, or babbling on the internet? Go talk to each and every DZO at the various places that you jump. Tell them your concerns, tell them you want to see changes. Not everyone jumps in the USA ... the world does not revolve around the USA or the USPA. To think that you will get rid of canopy collisions by passing a USPA BSR is just naive. Go talk to the various DZOs people. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. I never said "make this a BSR" why? see point #1. What works for one DZ may not work for another DZ. Plus not every dropzone is USPA. The bottom line is that if the DZOs want their DZs to become safer, then they must implement better landing policies. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. You guys are making this way more complicated than it needs to be. 1) Every DZ needs to evaluate their landing zones. When possible let's segregate HPL canopies from traditional pattern fliers by either time or space. 2) Let's not tolerate yahoos doing stupid shit in the different landing zones. 3) Let's have the people landing in the HPLs communicate which each other to determine the landing order before the airplane takes off. 4) Let's each and every one of us keep our eyes open and be prepared to abort whatever sort of approach we are making if traffic is an issue. A canopy collision can happen to anyone who is complacent either because they were not paying attention or because they thought "they were all that". Steve can now be seen stepping off of the soap box and he has two cents less in his pocket. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. Screw Iraq ... he needs to go to the White House and/or the Pentagon. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. I think they are both ugly women. Why? Because mean people are ugly. Now if only I could stop being so ugly. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. I have cable TV for one reason ... every once in a while there is a sporting event which is on (or some other show that interests me) and yes I am willing to pay for it. But in my market there are about 2-3 religious channels on basic cable. If I want to get these other shows, I am also going to be getting the evangelical propaganda. This is a price I must pay ... and while I am not happy with ... I accept it. I HAVE THE RELIGIOUS CHANNELS TURNED OFF. My whole point in all of this was that these evangelicals insist on broadcasting their rhetoric 24/7 either on the specialty channels or on some of the other more generic channels. There is pretty much no other religion out there (except maybe certain segments of Islam) who's mandate is to convert the entire world into Christianity. Is there any wonder why Christians and Islam are at war with each other. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. It would be one thing if these evangelicals would stick to their religious channels. That way I could have them permanently programmed out of my channel selections. But no they also insist on broadcasting on many other channels like some of the big network channels. But on a different note some of you (not Kallend) were all to egar to argue your points and neglected to pay attention to the part where I said "I can always change channels and/or not watch TV" and then you (not Kallend) came back and said "you can always change channels and/or not watch TV". well duh ... didn't I just say that. I was just trying to point out that the evangelicals insist of spreading their rhetoric through TV 24/7. Fortunately we do have the ability to shut them off. It's just unfortunate that I must pay for them ... but they are no different than all the other special interest channels and the cable companies know how to take our money and we are all to egar to give it to them. Even when we hardly ever watch TV. I think here in Speakers Corner the only thing we as a group will ever agree on, is that we agree to disagree with each other. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. If you value free internet radio, you are running out of time to voice your concern as it is at the risk of being crushed with new extremely high royalties rates. To learn more see this link. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. I don't make the rules, don't shit down my neck. But remember that sometimes that is not possible since another airplane that just landed may be occupying the ramp space. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Until there is an incident and then they want blood. I've been stuck in an airplane sitting on the ground on several occasions and it sucks ass. But what's a few hours out of your life? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than to be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Unfortunately the instant gratification "me-me" whuffo world can not grasp this concept. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. Don't ever assume you know how I think about my own country. I guess you haven't seen some of the other threads where myself and some fellow Canucks have been slamming what is going on here. But this thread isn't about the 41% of below IQ Canadians. If you want to start a thread about how naive Canadians are, about how greedy some are while how socialistic others are, then go ahead. We might actually be arguing the same point for a change. No this thread is not about stupid Canadians. PS: In my 8 years living and working in the USA, I met many intelligent Americans and I met many arrogant and ignorant Americans. It's just too bad your leadership falls into the arrogant ignorant side of things because you do have some very smart people down there. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. Simple ... not invade Iraq. Do you know the meaning of context? Spin it anyway you want. The bottom line is that the USA has made the world a more dangerous place thanks to your greed for oil and your constant need to feed your industrial military complex for your own selfish economic gains. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. I get Christians pushing their religious views down my throat 24/7 on the TV. Fortunately I have the option of changing channels or not even watching TV to begin with. But the shitting part in all of this is that I am paying money through my cable company to allow these Burble Thumpers to pollute the TV airways with their rhetoric. Who wins ... the cable companies of course ... because they get money from the Burble Thumpers and the cable consumers. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. Simple ... not invade Iraq. Why did the US invade Iraq? The masses were lied to when we were told it was about terrorism and WMD. But in reality we all know the reason why the US invaded Iraq was two fold. To control Iraq's oil and to feed the industrial military complex and kick start the US economy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. Wow how observant. You know opening up someone's profile to see their location (assuming they are not hiding behind their profile) is a novel way to figure out where someone is. Question? What does your remarks have towards contributing to the thread? Let me guess only Americans are allowed to have opinions here? Keep building those walls guys ... you are well on you way towards isolating yourself from the rest of the world. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. You can respond to anything you want. WTF do I care what you think. But usually it's a good idea to stick to the topic of the thread instead of making something up. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. Yawn ... did you say something? Because whatever it was you said, those were your words and not mine. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. John you are missing the point of this thread. It has nothing to do with immigration and everything to do with warning Roger Waters/Pink Floyd fans that the concert they may be attending in the future; while it will be a truly outstanding musical performance with some of the most professionalism in the music world, it may also have some political messages certain people don't want to hear. I really wish the artists of this world stuck to art. But Roger Waters will deliver a "in your face, like it or not" performance, and well some of his points carry some pretty profound and surreal truth to them. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. There is no possible way you can prove your God exists, just as I have no possible way to prove that he does not exist. Also, spare us the quotes from your Burble. It is nothing more than fictional book written by humans to control other humans in a time when humans knew little about the universe and the physical laws of the universe we find ourselves in. Damn ... how many times do we have to have this debate. Now the FSM ... that is a completely different can of worms. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. I don't think anybody is using the Dakotas right now. We could put them there. Not much going on in Wyoming either. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
