In fact all execution methods used in the US are cruel and unusual or have the potential to become cruel and unusual if something goes wrong. This includes lethal injection. Substance A is sufficient to kill someone humanely but for some reason the redundant substances B and C are added which will result in a agonizing death is A fails. But technically lethal injection could be made 100% fail safe & humane by making the procedure simpler, cheaper and less moronic. It might also be a good idea to (re-?)introduce the guillotine. It's cheap, humane and 100% fool proof, and it's perfectely suited for dramatic executions to satisfy the blood lust of the spectators to give even more closure to witnesses to the execution. About the point you made on prisoners murdering to receive the death penalty as a form of suicide: that could be easily circumvented by an voluntary euthanasia program for those with long prison sentences. I mean, if a society is killing prisoners against their will why should it be a problem to kill them if they want to die?

You could be right about that. Are there statistics about what percentage of victims stay Catholic after being raped by a priest? Over here it's 16 (18 for booze and other stuff with high alcohol content) and it should be raised to 18 ASAP IMNSHO. I would prefer 21 even but that's impossible without rewriting the constitution (me thinks). AFAICS a lower age for drinking sends a clear signal to parents that alcohol is in fact a fun and harmless thing. One thing I often experience is "hybrid" people. People in my dream are often composed out of components of real people. So someone can be partly my best friend, partly my spouse and partly a neighbour, all formed into one new person. This hybridization also often happens to things and places.

I've also a very sadistic and creative part of my brain producing the dream stuff, and I also suspect the lucid dreams are because of that. I usually wake up after I become aware so I don't really get to play with the dream.. But even if I'm not aware I'm dreaming the dreams about monsters are not that scary, more like a interactive horror flick. I somehow understand that there's no real danger. Of course my brain has found interesting ways to be able to keep scaring me. There's the hyper realistic nightmares about things that are possible. And there's the false awakening, where my mind tricks me back into thinking I'm awake by letting me dream that I wake up. It's almost like I need to have nightmares whether I like it or not. The sleep paralysis is still the nastiest thing. Even now I know what it is it's usually enough to ruin the rest of the night for me. Luckily I only have it once a month or so.

Assumptions aren't worth a thing. I can also safely assume that whites are, by nature, no more prone to doing a bit of serial killing than blacks, but I would be wrong. Your typical serial killer is a white male. I doubt it's because of their white skin, but the statistics are crystal clear about it. I don't think there's evidence that blacks are more prone to doing bad stuff than whites, btw. I do think it's stupid to assume things because it's the PC thing to do. I think the main reason there's more blacks in prison in the US because of socio-economic stuff, not because of racism or genetics.

I I wonder if there's a link between sleeping problems and (spontaneous) lucid dreaming. I can't really support it with evidence, but the people whit whom I talked about it usually had troubles in the sleeping department. I personally suffer from insomnia and some sleep-related phenomena like sleep paralysis.

Agreed, but Nazis didn't hate Jews because of their religion, but because of their race. It's because of that, that for example the Holocaust is widely seen as a racist atrocity, despite the fact it was mostly Caucasians killing other Caucasians, because they were perceived as being from an inferior race. I think that's why racism is kinda hard to define: even if there are real human races, which I doubt, the classification of humans is done in a completely arbitrary way.

I'm a part-time insomniac, ans that's 100% positively f-ed up. But seriously it's almost a non-scary nightmare to me.

I've always had spontaneous lucid dreams, but I usually wake up after I realize that I dream. Sometimes, especially when I have a lucid nightmare, I have a false awakening. I never tried to induce a LD, and the way I deduct I'm dreaming is usually only marginally rational. I ignore the giant spiders that are about to eat me, and I draw the conclusion from some rather insignificant detail. I.e. there's a ring on one of my fingers, while I never wear jewellery.
