At least it's not a restriction on "obscenity" like your 1st Amendment. We do get upset by genocides, you guys get upset by nipples, guess on who the joke is?
-
You don't really make sense, Boogeyman.
-
IIRC you were pissing all over the "weak minded" Euros a couple of posts ago..... But OK, you're right.
-
In the Dutch situation there probably won't be juridical consequences if you deny the holocaust in an informal setting. And if you do it more public it might eventually result in a juridical slap on the wrist. But I think everyone should be able to speak their mind if that doesn't lead to dangerous situation. (yelling fire in a theatre et al) But you wouldn't know the restrictions of our "first amendment", so you're essentially making a blind choice. I don't condemn the US of A, I'm just glad I'm not an American.
-
That goes without saying.

I assumed it was break time, but it would have been silly for them to interrupt their program to yell at a couple of idiots indeed. Yes, and the 4000 atheists who attended are a small group of atheists. there's 150 million of us or so. So even if it's organize irreligion, my claim that it's rare, still stands. Yes, and there would be much support amongst the 'Merican people to save a bunch of atheists in Egypt. But, seriously, you are in a very convenient position to judge atheists in f.e. Egypt. An atheist is probably lower then pig-shit in Egyptian society, and this means that they're so deep in the godless closet they have no chance to organize. Gandhi had it easy in comparison. Actually, my mistake, after reading a couple of the reactions I change my mind a bit. Yes, refuting other religions is more common.
-
You're still allowed to think the holocaust never happened, besides, your precious first amendment is also restricted, so it's a bit of a pot-kettle situation. If I look at the freedoms I have as a Dutch citizen and what freedom means in America, I'll choose Dutch reality over the American Dream any day, btw.
-
Perhaps, but he strikes me as one of the reasons why many people think Americans are ignorant of the world outside the US.
-
No, you don't get it, and I seriously doubt if you'll ever get it.
-
Apparently, no one fiddled with anything while Rome burned. http://history.howstuffworks.com/ancient-rome/nero.htm (Kinda scary that everyone seems to agree in this topic, btw....
-
Nope
-
Well, I might also have felt a bit troll-ish yesterday, but I think that's basically what happened, yes.
-
I agree with you, but a lot of people still think it's necessary. It's a very touchy subject, btw, and often a civil conservation about decriminalizing holocaust denial isn't even possible, so most politicians leave it alone, I think.

I decided it was Bash America Week AFTER an American decided to bash the Germans over something that happened 67 years ago. That's what you do if an American makes a fool of himself by trying to explain how things work in Europe, instead of whining about Anti-Europeanism (or in your case anti-Americanism) Whoops there I did it again! But without fooling around: Yes, I do know that Americans are individuals and no, I don't think it's right to hold the sins of former generations against you or any other Americans who had no part in it.
-
Apparently a lot of people disagree with you.
-
Fernjack suggests widespread revisionism, in reality holocaust denial is done by some fringe lunatics. So, Fernjack's statement is completely opposite to reality, in other words, complete nonsense.
-
Because you belief people never do things that are seen as outrageous by the main stream population?
-
They didn't have to create that law, in fact, in much of Europe including Germany, denying the holocaust is an efficient way to commit social suicide. It's seen as so outrageous to deny the murder of millions that it's simply outlawed.
-
And that's why in many European countries, and especially in Germany, it's illegal to deny the Holocaust. Personally I think you shouldn't limit Freedom of Speech that way, but it's a great way to illustrate that your statement is nonsensical.
-
You're spoiling the traditional anti-Euro anti-US shit throwing competition.
-
Yes, I know all about the Dutch slave trade. You on the other hand seem to think Americans had more rights to keep Negroes as cattle.
-
I suspect it's not terribly hard to "loose you". So some Americans discovered Negroes weren't completely useless for task more complicated than picking cotton. You still made them ride in the back of the bus for two decades.
-
Americans in general didn't have a problem with racism during and after WW II. That's more or less a fact.
-
Yes, and in the United States of Bigotry, Negroes had to ride in the back of the bus until, when? 1965? Whatever your problem with the Nazis was, racism wasn't it.

That's not similar "Christianity is the Cancer, Atheism is the Answer" and "Die, Christians, Die" would be more like what the hate beards in the vid yell.
