I jumped a Sabre for about 20/30 jumps but when I got to try a Pulse i found the openings softer and on heading - the pulse took a bit more to learn when it cam to landing, but after finding the sweet spot I have now 80 + jumps on a PULSE and have just ordered a new rig with a PULSE as the main. Nicky, I had the same thing as a new jumper fresh out of AFF and found myself at a DZ in France (did Aff in the USA) Familiarity/ some basic knowledge goes a long way to calm the nerves..... A few of the things that helped me... Google street view of the DZ and buildings (so I had a rough Idea about the layout) Map of the landing area/DZ..... Watched every video (inc tandems) of the DZ on youtube (became familiar with the Tandem Instructors - those I liked and those I didn't) and saw some of the regular jumpers. Have your log book to hand. They want to know: What jump number/When was your last jump/What size canopy...make sure you know this.... Check what rental gear they have before you turn up..... Tell them your are a NEWBIE :-) Enjoy and blue skies.

Skydive Royan (France - West Coast) - Me and my VW Camper spend a month there in August...right by the coast - great DZ. http://www.europhenix17.fr/en/ Camping onsite (with permission) or there are 2 campsites within 300 yards....500 yards from major supermarket. 13/14k for 22 Euro... 5 mins from the sea - You can camp by the sea if u like :-) There is a dedicated camper van overnight parking @ 7euro a night on the sea front road.... Well ran DZ - Porter running from dawn til dusk. Food onsite. Very friendly vibe and several members of staff who speak English. NO brainer ! PM me if you want more info.....

Without doubt for me - door fear. I did not like that door opening during AFF and for the next 50 + jumps. The door and I were like opposite poles of two magnets.

GAjumper For me personally (i am not an instructor) I added added an extra word to the AFF commands as i was always trying to reach in my back pocket. Arch ! Reach ! Pull ! and its was Arsehle So - at pull time i was was going ARCH! REACH ! PULL ! ARSEH&LE! Because by reaching there I always found my hackey. (this worked for me, it may not work for you)

Look at all the things that you did great on the dive Exited the plane Got stable Carried out your turns Forward motion Canopy check (i hope !) Canopy control Followed a landing pattern Flared Landed safely All after being 12,000FT in the air :) Not a typical day at the office Whats you've posted about beating yourself up over something is very common and so is the brain fog you get on your first jumps. I never pulled on AFF L2 - luckily my instructor did or else we'd still be waiting 12 month later .... I had a lot of brain fog/sensory overload during AFF. It was almost embarrassing when - post each jump - the instructor would say "Ok, lets go through the jump from your perspective" and I genuinely could only remember 5 seconds of a 45 second ride ... Remember: 1.You are not the only one. We all did it.(those that didn't are lying!) 2.This sport is a huge mind game 3.You did great 4.Yes you need to be more altitude aware and PULL (Note - I am not an instructor) If its any help - its my own experience and that of many people that I have observed in the short time I have been in the sport - the people that tend to struggle at the beginning with AFF (like me and you ) become better skydivers. I had the noob attitude that - if the plane had an emergency - we'd basically open the door and exit. After the tragic events in Belgium I forgot about centrifugal forces :( caused by a spin....
