Curious as to skydivers religious beliefs

Blue skies being he fun bit - the black death relates to the earth - which is painful if you hit it. Blue Skies

Keep it up Dan. The difficult time of year has passed and now its spring, summer and then skydiving ! Once you get back in the air your motivation will rocket and so will the weight loss. Blue skies.

Verty - Wow - you sound like me....well done on doing the tandem. My tandem lead me onto AFF. For me - there could be no bigger adrenaline rush than doing AFF - It was incredible. Pure thrill & sense of achievement/adrenaline..... - but many jumps on ..... its a different experience. The adrenaline is controlled which means you can actually experience more and enjoy the flight and time under canopy more. There's a personal challenge and battle every time you jump and each jump provides you with something else. The tunnel time will put you in great shape for AFF. Blue skies. (Post your tandem video if you have one)

QUOTE : Skydiving And Base Jumping are two dangerous sports that can fuck you up or kill you in a split second, if you are not able to accept this then these sports are not for you. Especially Base Jumping. Really. I mean, really ? I will be polite but your website is utter *****

its the same company - they have a lot of links so they use youtu.be as well

I have laughed and cried reading this whole thread. Just some amazing stories. Tandems are 50 seconds for a TI but a lifetime for the passenger. My wife and I did a tandem for her 40th and the bond and humour with the TI on the ride up (and I was nervous...not one of those passengers I see know who just laugh on the way up and can't wait to jump) made me want to take the next step in the sport and get my AFF. Tandems are a life changer. I know my kids will skydive.

Brian Lucky you - I had to travel all the way from the Uk to do my AFF at Deland. Well done on the jumps ! Enjoy the tunnel. You're in great hand there...great instructors ! Can't wait to get back there.....roll on March. Blue Skies.

We all feel the same way about Heathrow - but they've spent $1 billion on Gatwick which is a much better airport and much easier to arrive/depart and get to central London from....
-
The rules for diverting aircraft are separate from those on dedicated flight paths. Gatwick was running as normal and is the second biggest airport in the UK so it would have mad sense. (Easyjet and BA both fly direct from Gatwick - Swiss don;t as they can't get the slots, they go to Stanstead...)
-
Nataly, That was a little bit of bad luck I am afraid..you just happened to fly on our worst fog day of the year as the temperature suddenly dropped overnight.... Heathrow had about 10% of flights canceled (160 or so) ... they could have brought you into London Gatwick...its by far the best airport near London and there's a fast train to central London very 20 minutes. Next time just exit the plane when you see Big Ben and land at Buckingham Palace - there's a nice big green landing spot... watch out for the Queens little dogs when you come into land. :)
-
Did my aff at Deland - great choice. Good luck.

GO JUMP !

Can just add my 2 cents slightly off the OP. My wife and I did a tandem at Skydive Las Vegas last year and thats the reason I became a skydiver. Yes they ae a tandem factory but the whole experience, start to finish, made me want to take up the sport.

Skydive Dubai Buys Empuria Brava
shorehambeach replied to shorehambeach's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Europe's biggest DZ sold to Skydive Dubai. WOWZA! -
I am guessing, by the stuff on the website, that the 70lbs inc suit, rig, cameras and helmet....plus all the other stuff that was attached front and back..including oxygen cylinders etc etc Hard to work out just the suit weight - maybe 25lbs +/-
-
From the web : :) Felix’s full-pressure suit and helmet acted as a ‘personal life support system’ and it was modeled on suits worn by high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft pilots, but was custom-made to suit his measurements and upgraded with the latest technology. The total weight of the gear is a hefty 70 pounds including the helmet that was 8 lbs.
