  1. I feel for ya man A 22 guage needle is pretty small. Then again it's not my back that's being poked either. Size is realative I suppose . Good luck man... feel better
  2. Seventh Level of Hell -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guarded by the Minotaur, who snarls in fury, and encircled within the river Phlegethon, filled with boiling blood, is the Seventh Level of Hell. The violent, the assasins, the tyrants, and the war-mongers lament their pitiless mischiefs in the river, while centaurs armed with bows and arrows shoot those who try to escape their punishment. The stench here is overpowering. This level is also home to the wood of the suicides- stunted and gnarled trees with twisting branches and poisoned fruit. At the time of final judgement, their bodies will hang from their branches. In those branches the Harpies, foul birdlike creatures with human faces, make their nests. Beyond the wood is scorching sand where those who committed violence against God and nature are showered with flakes of fire that rain down against their naked bodies. Blasphemers and sodomites writhe in pain, their tongues more loosed to lamentation, and out of their eyes gushes forth their woe. Usurers, who followed neither nature nor art, also share company in the Seventh Level. ________________________________________ Well I'll be damned ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  3. http://www.msnbc.com/news/948269.asp?vts=080420032005 Gee, it's not like people carry these things on a regular basis right? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  4. Since Quade is getting a great thread together for Airline policy on carrying on your rig, why don't we do a thread on airports and the security screening experience. It may help prepare people for those "difficult" airports... Of course it all really boils down to whoever is doing the security screening each time... but I would like to know. I've only just started carrying mine on ... so here is my limited experience. Denver (DIA) - No problems, not even a second look Orange County, CA (John Wayne) - No problems at all ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  5. I fly every week and have never had my mine set it off at any airports such as (Denver, Dallas, Cincinati, John Wayne (Orange County), San Francisco, O'hare, Ft. Myers, Tampa, Charlottesville, Roanoke, Green Bay, Atlanta, Tulsa). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  6. I just carried mine on for the pre second time at Denver. X-ray tech didn't even slow the belt down as the bag with my rig went through (it has a cypress). Of course it could have just been luck of the draw, but I was very happy that no questions or wierd looks were given. Now I hope the return trip goes as smooth. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"

  8. Para-gear. I haven't had a chance to talk to them yet, I'm pretty confident that they will replace it with no problem... question now is... do I want another one of these? We will see what the outcome is... I feel they should replace the hackey and pay for my rigger fees. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  9. This is after 1 jump. I didn't have any problems with it and I haven't abused it. This really pisses me off. The material of the hackey actually ripped and the stiching was undone after that ripped. I applied a little pressure and the loop of fabric come out from around the ball resulting in what you see in the picture. Guess I'll see what the supplier has to say about it. I had just got this handle to replace the freestyle handle on my rig. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  10. Sorry but that is a bit vague to make any conclusions. Who is involved? Who would be affected by the decision? If it is not "bad" then why the worry? Life is all about risks... so I say go for it, assuming that it's not that major. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  11. I posted this in Video and Photography as well, but thought I would thow it out to the mass as well
  12. I saw the advertisement in Parachutist this month and wondered what you experienced camera flyers think of it www.endlessfall.net Seems like it could make flying a camera (not still cameras) easier. But I'm a totally beginner in the sport, so that's why I'm asking here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  13. Yeah... but Texas swallows ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  14. Taking a year off can turn into 2 and then 3... so be careful about it. Have you taken all the classes you can at KSU that are available in regards to your major ( all the BS courses you have to have )? Don't worry about moving to FL until you HAVE to. Get to know people in FL if you don't know any already and start having some mail sent down there so that you can show that as an address before you move... establishing residency early If it is something you NEED to do (unable to continue your education in Marine biology without moving) then do it. You are at the perfect time in your life to take big risk, because you will have plenty of time to recover from them if you fail. Plan it as much as you can... research all your options. Follow your heart and don't live in regret
  15. Hmmm... I'll go with A & B
  16. Had to stop and check It seems that I'm in the minority ... (It's amazing the shit we tell each other ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  17. Very nice rig... I wanted my 1st rig to be a voodoo, but I don't fly a canopy small enough yet . As for it looking like a vagina... just be sure to put an extra coat of scotchguard on it... you know how horny skydivers are ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"

Anyone else out there had to deal with this monumental waste of time. Corporate America never seems to run out of ways to generate committees and meetings. There goes 3 hours of my life I will never get back... f*ckers! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  19. The Howling (1st one) Jaws ( No one is ever the same if they see that damn thing as a kid ) Halloween ( 1st one ) I love horror movies... now as an adult (in age only) I'm always looking for a flick that will actually scare me
  20. Both my parents "seem" to totally understand and have only given positive reactions. Heck, my Mom always wanted to do it long before I did, so I think she may be living vicariously through me on this one. Then again, my Dad is planning on giving her a tandem jump sometime for a present. I hope to have my numbers and skill way up before that happens so I might be able to go out at the same time (we'll see). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  21. I think you should quit skydiving and concentrate on your flying so I can catch up to you Yeah right! Fuck that... keep flying both your body and the plane. It may cut into the # of jumps you do but you still get to experience 2 things that most people never will. Never give up any rating you worked hard to get, even if you think you may not need it again. Now get your ass back to work so you can afford these damn addictions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  22. Yep... now I just need to jump my ass off. Of course now that I've learned to tame that friggin' canopy and get it into the bag, I can get more than 2 jumps in a day . Too bad you weren't jumping camera for me that time... and hopefully I will not be repeating that little trick. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing"
  23. So there I was 3500 feet and reaching for my pilot chute, it was the second jump on my new Wings container with the freefly handle (instead of hackey) and when I reached back to pull, I dropped my shoulder and did a flip/roll. I let go of the handle, it was now dislodged from the flap, and arched back into position, reached again and repeated the same flip/roll. Because it was a new handle to feel for and now it was flopping about a bit it was no time to screw around. Bye bye silver handle . So I learned a few things and all it cost me is a repack on my reserve and a new reserve handle. What did I learn? 1. I should have practiced more with my new container and handle (practice pulls on creeper or floor). 2. I should have practiced touching during freefall (I did on the 1st jump with the container and it went well). 3. I can save my own life. 4. That silver handle comes out of its binding in a flash when adrenaline is pumping. 5. Reserve openings at terminal are not real fun Some advice I was given: 1. Practice before you get in the air with a new system. 2. Spread your legs a little wider to help with stability. 3. Jump more often so that you are more current and comfortable. And so you don't have to go look... I have 34 jumps, this happened on the 34 jump. I don't jump a lot but this container and canopy are my reasons for wanting to jump more so more jumps will not be an issue in the future. The TM's and experienced jumpers were great in thier advice and words after this incident. (Thanks Jason, Mike, & Frank)
