  1. Rhino for president.... Go for it! Think you should change your ICON as it might SCARE some of the potential supporters Steve You could convert Airforce 1 to a jump plane!
  2. AH Yes, Great pictures Chris. Which aircraft was yours? "So I'll just throw in some "mystisism" and say: Ahhh, I can see the air molecules moving. Can't you? (kind of like the baseball hitters who say they can see the spin of the threads on the ball so well they know where it's going.) " I Imagine the "Gps technology" would look like the attachment below. Haha Steve
  3. Chris, Thanks for the detail. "Technology" will get you a starting point, but experience and a feel for the the total drop is what makes a good driver. Imagine being a diver helps. Steve
  4. "It's just physics" AND "Embrace Technology" Steve

    ESPN2 Tonight

Great job Michele! Just like being there in the sky. Great landing also. Very gracefull even with the high flare. (no sarcasm intended). Steve

    ESPN2 Tonight

FYI: Saw on ESPN 2 Tonight's Schedule 9:30 PM (not sure what time zone) Freefall — 35 year old Michele Lesser wants some excitement in her life and decides to take up skydiving. On her third solo jump Michele's main chute gets tangled and needs to be cut away. Steve
  8. How BIG my feet were, after Canopy opening and looking straight down, and realizing that there was 3000 ft between my shoes and the ground. Steve
  9. Great Dave! Now that you are on campus, do you see a LOT of people wearing "Containers"?? HA (Potential Skydivers) Steve
  10. "I made my first jump at age 52. I'm now 57, have made 1060 jumps, including over 300 in the last 12 months. Next week I'm competing in 10-way speed and 16-way at Nationals" Kalland, Thanks for the encouragement. Good luck at the nationals! I've got a long way to go before i attempt a 10 way, but i have mastered the "Tandem 6-Way" and the "Tandem Sit". See attachments. Hehe (suppose to be funny) Steve
  11. "We also get a little less adventurous AKA: we know we aint bulletproof.I don't know if the words "conserative skydiver" is an oxymoron or not but that is my goal. I don't think a late student could ever be proficient enough to participate in freeway median swooping or something like that but he can still have a hell of a good time." Think you have the correct attitude! This is my goal, to have fun. The way i see it once you are out of the plane, the Physics are equal for everyone regardless of age/experience. My goal will be to have the safest jump possible and handle the mals properly. I may never get past the Student Canopy, but if i can have fun, thats the goal. Steve
  12. "Being "half a step behind the beat" may look funny on the dance floor but aint funny in the air so take and use videios and keep in mind your instructor is your kids age and don't really have a clue " Hi Carl, Yes the instructors probably don't have a clue about being an "Old Fart", BUT they have all the other talents to skydive and teach. I will continue to pick up all the info I can from the links you mentioned. Thanks. I will try to stay "ahead of the curve". I appreciate all the comments from the other members of this thread! Steve
  13. "I travel a lot and this puts really too much time between lessons for good retention so try to start a regular schedule." Thanks for the older insite. Yes i think i will need to start when i can get continuity for the lessons. From all i have read here this is important. Fall is fast approaching followed by winter up here. Think i will start in the spring . My distant eyesite is 20-20 but need reading glasses. hehe. On landing if the grass gets "fuzzy" then i guess i flared too low! Steve
  14. Thanks for all the replys from you 50 ish people that survived the 60's and are just starting out. You show that it IS possible! Steve
  15. Thanks! Maybe I'm not too old.
  16. For all you "Skydiving Instructors" out there, What was the age of your oldest starting student? I am thinking about AFF/SL but I am 59 years old. My tandem jump was a lot of fun and i can see why you all Skydive!
  17. "OK, he said we'll barrell roll out the door, then go drougueless to 8500'(from 12500') " On my tandem we did flips from 11,200 to 8500 before PC deploy, not sure if it was intentional, but a lot of fun. Video clip on my homepage. It was 10 seconds before PC deploy.
  18. "I am not familiar enough with the Strong system to say one way or the other, you'd want to talk to the TM about that.
  19. "There's a tandem canopy at my DZ in Those exact colors! I thought it must've been temporary insanity of the Strong designer, but it seems more likely he's colorblind" I don't think its "Temporary". Strong has this canopy on their main homepage. Think they really like these colors. Maybe they put them on all their Tandem rigs so that they can keep track of their TM's. http://www.strongparachutes.com/ Steve My Site
  20. Not if I had known what my TM had packed in the container.Guess it was better than the laundry. Steve My Site

I'm a Leftie also. "WUFFO they put the ripcord on the incorrect side?" (see attachment of my tandem pull) My Site
  23. "the exit was scary man... your TM needs a case of beer after that one. Did he explain to you why you flipped? " It didn't seem scary during the dive. I had a great time! He said that jumping backwards the wind causes the flips. The nice thing about the first time is I had no reference to what it should be like. Maybe I didn't Arch fast enough? He thought it went fine. Probably just humoring me? Steve My Site
