  1. Just what is my politically convenient bias? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  2. At what point do my daughters stop being my children? If people ask me if I have any children, do I have to answer "Nope. I do have two daughters and a son, though. However since they're all over the age of 18, I have no children." Or, perhaps, you are choosing to intrude your politically convenient bias into your interpretation of the word? Don Jesus Christ. I knew some one would say exactly that even though I had hoped not. If you cant figure out what his intent by using the word children was I shouldn't be wasting bandwidth trying to explain it to you. But I probably will. He didn't say "his children" referring to to ex Sheriff. He said children. And yes I expect people to refer to there own children as such and don't need you to point it out to me however the term "women and children" does not refer to it in that way. Why not just say Children then because it will be simpler and include the women as well? We are all children if you want to go off your comment. It wasn't what he meant and most people understand that. How is this? I am sleeping around with children. I am dating a child. I got a child pregnant. Everyone is a child according to your wonderful viewpoint. But most people now the word is not intended to be used that way. Now I have to find out what child I am going to fuck tonight. She will probably be a 41 year old child though. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  3. ok, so he did say what was quoted and much more that explains it a little better. And even more to the point it confirms he NEVER said children. My point was that it is so hard to take anything serious from people here when they deliberately lie and try and deceive. On another note. It is not like he suggested they force women to the front. One was a lawyer that said she gladly would go to the front of the line. Are Feminists fighting for equal rights until they don't want them and want to hide behind behind being a women? Want it both ways? Or is the outrage that Women should be put in their place and not be allowed to stand up when these women know most if the world do not view Women the same and it would have an overwelming effect. Billvon's post is a prime example. Maybe these women are trying to advance Feminism. I don't care. I just didn't like a Moderators deception And I am not agreeing with what they did nor am I disagreeing. But for Billvon's to make it about children?..... I do not have the time to double check everything he says and post like this discredit most of it That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 4. Women and children? I try and stay out of this forum because I can't deal with the either the far right or the far left. But from my point of view the ones in the dz.com forum that twist stuff the most are on the left. The quote said daughters not children. Perhaps you looked it up first to verify and you are correct but based on other slanted posts I would expect out of Kallend I am not so sure. If they are Children say it, otherwise the most that stands out in the post to me twisting Daughters into Children. Regardless how stupid the comment he made seems to be, it is hard to except much when you substitute words like that. Perhaps he said it perhaps he didn't. But why change the wording? If they are children which I don't care to look up because I think you would have let us know if you already did. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 5. Just for those who repeatedly say in these threads "ask any pilot" as to offer validity to their claim, there are highly experienced Professional pilots over at Pprune.org that can not agree on these principles. There is one guy that had at the time over 1200 public helicopter demonstration displays to show capabilities of aircraft that believed that wind does matter. Now to be fair they are primary talking about an aggressive unbalanced turn but there are plenty on there that will never to a wing over turn into the wind. Interesting discussions. Talks about inertia, loss of IAS, ect. I only mention because I think it is funny when someone says "ask any pilot" like it is that cut and dry among all pilots That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 6. I am trying to find a video from New Zealand I think where a heli is pretending to be Snoopy and playing with a ball and came across this. You would voluntarily ride along on a ride like that? That is nuts. That made the rides Rod took us on look safe. Any help with that other video would be appreciated. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 7. WTH?? The question was about rate of decent the way I read it. Obviously the trajectory relative to the ground changes. You take off and land into the wind to use less runway and have a lower ground speed. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  8. For the record I am by no mean anti MS. I just hate to spend $100 on a $50 PC, plus a stick of ram and hope not to lose performance. I really do like windows 7 if it will run decent on the machine. And I suspect it will as my Laptop in not that much higher specs except 6 GB ram. 9. Well it looks like I am just going to back up important data and let him run it. For the online stuff he does it will be an issue. It appears as he can run Roblox with wine and also Minecraft will run but he likes to go to lots if places to play silly games and I just think this will be too much of a problem. I could upgrade to 7 but in reality I think I he will need a newer box. Too bad because that PC has been good to him. Fortunately I only paid $50 from a university sale for it. 10. I have never jumped at a DZ that wouldn't let me jump without an AAD and I jumped for several years without any form of alti after having them repeatedly stolen with little use. People arguing over how high to throw there riser dive looking to me for an opinion and I was all sight picture. So to answer you question I have never been any place where either are mandatory. But the latter is totally unheard of and unchecked in most of the US. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  11. I downloaded and burned and ISO image to try it out without installing. My laptop must need a new optical drive as after messing with several programs to burn I went to my kids PC for such a simple task. But upon booting form the disk I realized it was actually Xubuntu which I gather is a light version. I think his PC is plenty to run full scale versions? It runs XP great. Sounds like Puppy is really geared toward much lower spec gear. I think I will just throw a different hard drive in and load one and let him go and load stuff up and then transfer everything over after if it seems to work good? 12. No shit! Although 4 miles out with "strong" winds is hardly a cross country. That said if a 20 jump wonder sank a reserve into a small back yard that is impressive. Chopping a main above 9k is not however. What kind of mal at that altitude on a student canopy needed to be chopped? I assume at the very least it cost him a freebag/pilot chute. 13. Its actually not that bad. The biggest reason I didn't go full out with my computers all being Ubuntu is native application compatibility. I have different versions of it on a laptop, my main server and a test VM and have built a couple NAS boxes for other people using the server version (command line interface only). Hell, my home DVR system is running Ubuntu. What can I say, the price is right! The best part is, even some of the oldest machines can still run some version of it and the native compatibility almost never bites me in the ass. It's rare that I had to download a specific driver and even then, it was only one. So my 8 year old has a computer running xp. How bad is this now I should I consider Ubuntu right away. He mainly just uses it for gaming but some school stuff and I also have some pics, video and movies stored on it. I also have it running Plex Media Server. I do not currently have a NAS My biggest issue is MS Office. He uses PowerPoint although he did use Google slides for one extra credit presentation. It is one thing to have to learn the OS but to have to learn all the new applications to replace Office might be a bit much? Any recommendations? This computer is used hours everyday but is an older machine. It has a core 2 duo cpu if that matters That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 14. This is a very good article. I grew up on the water and my son starting boating when he was 9 months old. I have had a couple scares when I couldn't find him while parked on an island but he really is a good swimmer. Anyway despite the countless hours I have spent on the water that article was very informative reading. Thanks That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 15. That said I think it is safe to say this. This is very touchy subject and SOME Base jumpers feel they are so unique and elite that skydivers and occasional BASE jumpers are complete Wuffos and are in the dark so they should not be discussing as their is nothing to learn for them. Even among experienced BASE jumpers there can be dissent when it comes to proper risk management when Families and young children are affected. I only want to add this. Having had people follow in my tracks and stunts I pulled for my own Adrenalin fix, I view risk management a little different. Jumpers talk about their family accepting this risks but what they seldom talk about is if the families and children of others that follow in their footsteps accept this shit. I personally have had serious issues with some stuff that their is No doubt I led people into. Whether I was with them at the time or I just set the example, or in some case literately laid tracks(I use the term laying tracks loosely). I don't really want to get in a pissing match about it just as to point it out because I constantly hear people saying they are willing to accept the risks and consider there OWN family in this risk. Of course this will always happen in anything and we can not just stop living life. But we CAN put the fucking Cameras away and not feel the need to share them with the entire world to feed our own egos. But you don't get sponsors that way and that does play a part, however small or big in some of these incidents. I touched on this first in the original thread. One post got lost. We can disagree on many things but I can not see how we can disagree on this....Cameras are killing people. What young cocky confident Adrenalin Junky doesn't want better POV footage when his buddy is showing off a much bigger badder sicker line to everyone. (Over generalizing). And I am talking well outside of this particular incident as this was not a case of Jeb hitting balloons flying low proximity I am not even sure where/how I stand because I am mixing my own personal demons into my thoughts. But I do think this is a hell of a lot better place for the discussion then in the incident forum. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 18. 6 months is a long time and based on your dislocation sounds like you will be fine. One thing you don't mention is your age. If you are young you are almost certain to have it happen again from what I understand. The fact that it went in easy puts is far away from the injury I am recovering from(I just did some PT a few minutes ago) I dislocated my shoulder violently(skiing also but on water. backward barefooting). It was out for longer than I would have liked and was put back in only after sending me for a trip on Etomidate, Ketamine,Propofol, and Fentanyl. Third run they got it in. I was in unimaginable pain and two nursed kept pumping me full of this shit to shut me up. I did a lot of damage to it and it is still a mess(last August) but I would not see an issue whatsoever with a tandem. Mine is no more likely to come out now that it was before the crash. If your very young(early 20's) the shoulder joint is a lot more loose but I still do not see an issue in six months. If your doctor recommends surgery at some point I would just get it done however. God mine was painful though. Many Orthopedic surgeries and I have never had pre-operative pain like that. From shattered ankle joint to a badly displaced tib platue with ligament tears and patella ripped off the pain before surgery was mild in comparison(surgery was days later). Take care of that shoulder!! Get it stronger than ever That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  19. My Toggle grip has been questioned in swoop photo(4,5 with 1 lock) but it has nothing to do with style points. But I am amazed looks is even a consideration(style points) if it is at all. People say swooping is just to look cool but some of my favorite swoops were in the dark or when no one was looking. I hope people do what is safest for them not what looks cool. I guess I am saying your right if your right but I hope your wrong. I rarely respond to toggle discussions because of my own grip. But there is more than one way to skin a cat...... 20. Your "toddler" does push ups? No "Nose in the Corner" here. Little one does pushups!!! What is little? A toddler I think of as like 1-3 years old. I just never had mine try when he was less than 3 and I think kids that can do it that young have to be in a very high percentile in this. But as I said I never had him try back then so I could be way off. Still surprised though. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

  25. Isle of Mann, right? Yeah, lots of stuff to hit if you leave the bike. I wouldn't do it. Yep Isle of Man. And some of them keep coming back year after year. I read somewhere, and looked for it, that I believe Michael said he didn't plan on do in much longer because the more you come back the more you are playing a "game of numbers" I can't find it now but it was one of the top riders from last year and I think it was Michael. His dad and Uncle both died in high speed bike crashes. His dad after the bike seized and he inadvertently applied brakes when grabbing clutch(left thumb brake). His Uncle left a track at high speeds and flew into the woods. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
