Coming up soon at the DZ I learned at and jumped my first couple years is the annual P-toss. Some jumper pulls their car out in the landing area and everyone could get a chance to hit it with a pumpkin. 500 Ft due north at 90 mph. Heard some stories from before my time of a 200 lb'r on the wrong line. Rolled it out and looked down with an "oh shit" That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

Exactly. The only time I felt unsafe in Chicago was when I parked in front of some projects down by US Cellular Field to make a call from my truck. A little awareness would be key there and even then it was a non issue. Just drive away to a better area. I love the downtown area and called on accounts all over Chicagoland with out ever wishing or wanting a firearm with me. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! Inevitable outcome? I have no issue with the LEO assuming everyone is armed but if they can't handle that maybe they need a different line of work. DNR wardens during hunting season can almost be assured anyone they approach will be armed. Hell the weapon is usually in there hands. They don't approach blazing. If being around armed people makes you that nervous you are clearly in the wrong field. In my travels I have been around people carrying openly(including LEOs as well as those expressing there rights, and have noticed people "printing" their Concealed weapon through poor clothing choices for CCW. I worry more about how my Sandwich or Dinner is going to taste than worrying about a Cop or CCW holder in the same restaurant. Sorry you are so afraid of guns That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

? It didn't sound life threatening to me? Be interesting to see what happens to that cop in Kentucky that killed the teen girl leaving the party this spring. Way to much of this going on That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

Tip: If you hang from the Sky van bar make sure and tell the pilot your there. I did this at WFFC once after I turned down a 2 way sit jump with the most beautiful women I had met.(I love pretty women but my first WFFC coming from a small RW Cessna DZ with 10 months in the sport and jumping a demo Velocity. Always being the logical type I didn't want to overload myself) Anyway I hung from the bar as she exited last and geeked me. Pilot immediately through the plane into a dive pulling me with. I let go spun around and got way to good of look at the bottom of the plane/props. My favorite exit I have done is last diver out of a dc-3. Turn and hug the beach ball on the prop blast and get a head start and fly right over people. Just need an early diver spot on the formation or stay out of peoples way and wait for it to build once there. Wish I had more than a couple WFFC jumps out of one. Late Diver on any tailgate is cool as is the first floater out of anything That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

Not to hijack but as I work on a lot of sleds and am only a couple hours away from you I should know what you lost. I also have very close ties to a large salvage yard that buys lots of stuff. Did you go to HayDays? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

Don't take this the wrong way.... and I have ran my fair share of tires past that but usually on ultra classics rather than sport bikes..., bu that is not the proper tire for your riding style. Get a dual compound or just go straight firmer compound. You don't need a soft tire. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

Depends where you live I guess. Bike theft is not much an issue around these parts.(That coming from a guy that has had two bikes stolen
-
ummm...yes it was the 2012. She traded the yami off and the triple got ripped off. Not much positive there. And two people can easily throw that bike in the back of a trailer or truck. She didn't even indicate if it was hauled away or driven. She may no know. But I never assumed it was driven away as I do no know. Easy to steal a 400 lb object without driving it. No help from overhear but very sad to hear. I had two race bikes stolen but was lucky to recover both of them. Questionable methods were used and some pain was inflicted. But I had a lead. If bike theft is such an issue over there is insurance exceptionally high to cover theft? I wish you the best of luck. Was it stolen from your place? How about you demo both? Nice First post btw Seriously though. Demo. Openings are subjective. Lots of stuff is. Just jump them both. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

I thought it was amusing that the later guy to cut away had his canopy partially inflated flying backwards entangled with the other main and yet still collapsed his slider before cutting away. Some might say to get a better look but really? There was any thought of not cutting that away That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! Yep. I showed and explained it to my whuffo friend as meeting someone in a hallway and both moving. Probably a real bad analogy but good enough for a non jumper. If I had been behind(which I would have been in that situation) I would have been screaming at him to hold fucking still so I could park it on him. At first.... then I would have turned and burned if I had my doubts. And yes. I have been there before doing x braced crw with my buddy for his first time. And I did take off and regrouped on the ground. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

Except there were no power poles. Only STEEL light poles. Even so there would have been room on the side. But wires between steel light poles in town would be something I have never seen. I get your point and that should be covered in the fjc for newbies but I saw no issue with that landing. I remember having to answer a question about a demo jump, where the demo jumper would be dressed up as a witch, with broom and hat, plus the demo jump was to be at night and close to water. Question was, what to prepare and how to handle this. A number of people started writing like a full page how-to. The correct answer was: Don't what I don't get is the negative attitude of some posters opposing that very legitimate answer.... once again - dz.com kangaroo-court It is a BS answer. Where does one draw the line? Sure there are jumps that only a small subset of jumpers should be attempting to pull off, but if you are answering this question on a test you are at the very least going into an area where some of this subset lie. It was not a yes or no question. As was already said the "Don't" response could be applied across the board. To some whuffos it applies to every jump we do. I have done jumps far more difficult talent wise than that, but the point of the question assumes the talent and focuses on the planning. It is a horse shit question if that was the correct response and belongs nowhere on a test. You become graded on the instructors own personal opinions and level of competency and that is just flat out wrong. A trick question has no business on that test Edited to reiterate. I don't think anyone is saying it is not a legitimate answer on a personal level. That is an individual choice. Just not a legitimate question requiring that answer on a test of which is assumed to be given to a potential demo jumper that needs to be able to plan. A disguised question that most would assume is meant as a test of one's ability to foresee different scenarios that one must plan for in order to make a safe successful jump. Whether or not they would or should actually make such a jump. Could one answer "don't" to the question of a jump next to a pumpkin patch in light winds because the testie has a phobia of pumpkins? Where does one actually have to formulate a decent response for the test. So it is not so much of a BS answer as that it is a BS question based on the REQUIRED answer. Fair enough back. But it is not like the goal or intention is to wind them up. It is just a by product of ones own selfishness or addiction. Problem is some S&TA should have a better approach. Especially at a smaller DZ where they are really not that busy. Sit them down and try and get the point across. I didn't get it for years. I was very good at what I did(and safe in my mind) but I was setting horrible examples and I have a few things hanging over my head now as a result. People that did things because of my actions(not just in one sport). But people don't go to AA and get bitched at by the counselor for being an idiot. Nor is that the approach for those addicted to drugs. Granted this is radically different and they do make a choice to take that drink or get high again, but for some that choice is difficult. How about this example.... I was at SDC and went looking by myself for a helmet w/protrack that a girl lost on a jump. While out there I came across a wooded section on a hill with a gently winding trail that ultimately turned 90 and dropped into a small cow grazing area. I instantly observed the wood's canopy as being possibly high enough to squeeze underneath and imagined a run down this path. A couple weeks later I had a dumb low opening after being last out and losing alti awareness on a two way and there was no way of making it back. Well what to you know I found myself right over the field on the edge of the wooded transition down to the lower clearing at the perfect altitude. There was nothing in the world and no punishment available I think that could have stopped me from what I did next. No one ever saw it and few non farmers even have ever seen the trail much less remotely consider a canopy fitting through it. Not even because of the size but because they would not look at every piece of terrain like an opportunity to rip it up. I never meant to hurt anyone but I know I did a few and drove others crazy. But don't sit back and think were are being an asshole because we simply don't follow the rules. Sometimes we CAN'T follow the rules. The moment is bigger than the punishment and there is always the next DZ. Again that was then. I am not the guy I come across as. It's not like it really dove. I had all I could to to get it to come around. I get your point though and you are correct. But I was jumping a 75 on that first mal and was a swooper through and through. There really wasn't much danger in the way I turned that pdr in. Could have bailed out at any moment if needed. Peoples lack of recognizing they need to bail out or speed up the turn to lose less altitude is what get them in trouble many times. Recognition is key. That is something that is hard to teach though. You really want to make fun of me I got one better. A boogie in East Troy when we were not allowed during the boogie to land in the small fenced in back yard playgound reserved for experienced jumpers. Had mal and since I had only one rig and was done for the day I swooped the back yard with my 106r. When the S&TA came out to give me hell I made him aware I was on my reserve so I wanted to do what was familiar. I always swooped the "back yard" so I didn't want to take an unfamiliar canopy and land in the main landing area that I had never been before. That was then this is now. I had a problem (addiction) back then. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side. -
My kid is not going to read it and I could care less if she or her attorney or the judge reads it. I only stated basic well know facts. Nothing that is even worth challenging. It is actually public information now that everything is filed. I appreciate your input however I just do not see what stating basic facts of a situation can harm. Willing to listen though That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

360 is almost ten years old. They are really inexpensive used but still sell for quite a bit new. If you go that route shop around. You should be able to find one fairly cheap. But some games will require a kinect sensor add on. Do you have a budget? It does much more than play games. You can stream videos if you don't already have such a device. I have plex media server on a pc that I store my movies on and then stream them threw the 360. Also netflix and all the other streaming apps. My son who just turned 9 loves his although I allow him to play some games that others would not. I race others all over the world on Forza 4. I would love the newer xbox one but have not picked one up yet. What kind of games does he want to play? Some kids do better on something like a Wii for all the kids games. I have one of those with games and extra remotes I would sell cheap but again it is old tech. Minecraft is better on a PC and it does not need a super powerful PC like many of the games do. This time I carry guns and knives and am dangerous to my child's welfare. Again a straight A student that is a top notch skier and set cub scout track records with his gorgeous painted, wet sanded and buffed derby car that I made him do the work. List goes on and on. Point is we go all out on everything. From School to riding bicycle. Other elementary schools know who he is in town. And while I strongly support CCW and am valid in many states and speak my mind, I actually have never carried. It is more political for me to get it. I do not wear the proper attire to carry although I have in the woods bow hunting so I should have never said never That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! Well, that's the thing about languages though, it doesn't matter a damn bit what any individual likes or dislikes. Common usage really does rule and especially over time. So if the media and whuffos change the verb-age and adjectives when describing incidents, we as a skydiving community should accept it and adopt the change because of common usage? Actually, you have that exactly backwards. The skydiving industry who are attempting to turn what are commonly (even legally) defined as accidents into "incidents." Please refer to the FAA definition of an accident and then get back to me on what the USPA calls them. I actually wrote accidents and then changed it during proof reading and editing as I know that is is what is preferred on this site, but I was not referring to that term even remotelyl. Not in the least. You cherry picked that one but I have not heard of any skydiver bitching at the media for calling an accident and accident. Things is a lot different in your part of the world if that is going on. I have not even seen a thread bitching at the media for using the term accident so I really believe this issue that your fellow skydivers have with that word is unique to your area. Plenty of other the media get wrong. An accident is just that. Unless it isn't of course That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
