  1. He is a highly skilled and experienced and respected jumper in many circles and he has done the live & drop testing on most the kind shit we're talking about and done so for years, he has a tad bit of a clue of what he speaks. Unlike most the people who get on here and talk a lot of shit about how much they have learned in less then 5 yrs. and how experience they have test jumping reserves and other canopies, he help test and or bring to market or to the military. That what it has to do with this thread. pretty sure he made a snap judgment that was wrong. but whatever no sweat for me it was just pointless entertainment while I hit a bowl.
  2. I have several pasta macaroni pictures hanging up around me as we speak.
  3. if you pull at 2k when are you in the saddle by? What is your decision altitude? That seems to be cutting it a little close unless your safire tends to open fast. I pulled in a wingsuit with a sabre1 from 2k and I am usually fully in the saddle by 1,500. Pretty low by most standards to be assessing your canopy whether you're going to keep it or not. Not something that I'd think is a good idea.
  4. Seems like quite a few reserve rides for 300 jumps. If you felt that was a PA you need to toughen up cupcake. From your choice of canopies all I can say is good luck. Sparky you know you can fly reserves as mains right
  5. 1 jump on a microraven 120 a few jumps on an older PD and a few jumps on an optimum but hey lets let your personal attack flyyyyyyy feels good man edit oh yeah and about 25 jumps on a falcon (as a main!) edit also I have experience on other 7 cells Atair Troll MDV 205 and Basic Research Fox Vtec 225 and also triathalon 135 so I have a pretty good bearing on how a good 7 cell should fly/control itself in brakes, etc. but what do I know
  6. ......................................................................... Old (lightly-used) gear works great with older jumpers and older riggers, because they understand the limitations (e.g.don't load more than 1:1) and know how to fly it. The danger crops up when young skydivers try to load old reserves at 2:1 and wonder why they break so many bones. DOUGH! so you're saying a falcon reserve is just as good as a PD optimum reserve? I think the latter is stronger and flares better and flies better but what do I know I started skydiving in the 2000s
  7. by the way that was a joke if you could not tell
  8. dragon, thanks for responding. Yes I have seen those adapters. What do they do that long bolts and dripping melted polyethylene in the gap won't do??? I have pure polyethylene powder and welding tools of all varieties at my disposal so 'filling in the gaps' shouldnt be a large task (few minutes to heat up the poly and drip it in). just double checking that I am not missing something...
  9. hello, can i mount a quick release mounting plate on the top of a regular helmet, provided I get bolts big enough to reach down inside the helmet? I know there will be a gap but I was going to fill that gap in with something (polyethylene maybe). is there any problem I am not envisioning??? Only the edges of the mounting plate will be off the helmet so the plate itself should be very secure (and as long as the gap is filled in there won't be a snag hazard).
  10. that is a totally awesome canopy remember it will need to be relined soon since it is probably near the end of an acceptable out of trim range.
  11. well I have definitely noticed a difference but to each their own.
  12. why jump older gear when you can get a new reserve for a little over 1 grand and a used reserve for 500
  13. keep looking. you want a reserve no older than 10 years (400-600) - nothing like SWIFT or FALCON or any old shit a main that is ZP 9 cell (400-600) a harness that FITS YOU a container that has tuck flaps for the riser covers (400-600) an AAD that won't expire within 1-2 reserve repacks (6-12 months) at least (200-600) 1,800-2400 USD (ballpark)
  14. Can people stop pushing this shit. It isn't true. In the presentation in San Diego this was more than covered. Additionally I don't see how this could hurt tony and I don't really see how it helps Robi either. can you provide DSE's bank account history to back up your point?
  15. let me ask do you wingsuit? Do you understand that when pulling in full flight in a wingsuit the dbag can kick off the stitched corners and causes line twists?
  16. pretty sure thats not off topic I think thats the point of the thread. oh and tonysuits vs phoenixfly.
  17. lets call it a Atair Troll MDV (make it 205 square feet) and freepack them for our wingsuit skydives so we can deploy safely at 2,000' AGL.
  18. yeah but isnt that like saying you're gonna pay a crackhead 10/hr............................................ plus all the free crack he can handle
  19. yeah, air leaking out of the seams....science
  20. has anybody flown this canopy? Could you make a comparison to a cobalt? I love atair canopies am really interested in this model.
  21. I do 10-20 per month, depending on mood. Some months i dont jump at all, preferring to things other than skydiving. Weather and climate is not a limiting factor here, we jump year round. what else do you do for fun?
