  1. Haha....off-heading..
  2. Never used to have OFF-HEADING openings. With my brand new custom Vector 3 and Pulse 210 more than 90% of openings are 90-180 degrees off heading to the left. Tried everything from keeping legs straight while opening, to arch through the opening, to not look up during openings, symmetrical tightening of straps on rig, stable arch before pull and several different packers. Previously jumped Navigator and Silhouette (one off heading). Could it be some asymmetrical anatomy of myself or rig that does this?? The Pulse were supposed to give mostly on heading openings.

    openings

Not so much experience but my Pulse opens quick and smooth (Pulse 210). And although 90+ percent of openings are 90-180 degree head off openings it is a great canopy. Also a few jumps on a Navigator and Silhouette..which both also opens nice.
  4. I have jumped a Silhouette 230 and owns a Pulse 210. The silhouette is nice but I think the Pulse is smoother when compared and also packs small. Pulse is a great canopy! I like the colored lines on the Pilot to facilitate easy packing

    Pulse

Jump history: - 29 jumps on a Navigator 260, - 12 jumps on a Silhouette 230 and - 60 jumps on a new Pulse 210 (in a new Vector 3) First opening is the best I ever had. Smooth, quick and on-heading. Immediately you feel how very smooth, responsive and reliable it feels when you pull toggles. It seems to do what you ask of it from the very first jump. Also in quite unstable air. Takes a few jumps to get the flare but landings feel precise and lands well also on no wind days. Could not stall it when holding full toggles for more than 10 seconds. Never before had off heading on openings but now 90% of them are. Had 1 twin which was very undramatic. Thank you Performance Designs!
  6. I "only" started to barely sit-fly in the tunnel but admit to have gotten a whole new perspective about the force in the tunnel. You want to manage the basics before the speed goes up or you could easily get smashed pretty well.
  7. I am glad to have responsible and experienced jumpers standing up for the sport! And if willing to learn, a student should be able to separate the asshole from someone who gives sound advice. When it comes to skydiving. I think a lot of newbies go a round with themself, to realize that falling from perfectly good airplanes, is a totally new arena where other social "God-status" is not what keep you safe..
  8. Listen, do not be too impatient and RELAX!!! From another newbie with 3,5 hr of tunnel time.
  9. The week of coaching, wind tunnel, rent of gear and new purchase during my recent stay at Skydive Arizona was some of the best value money ever spent. Dedicated world class instructors, friendly athmosphere and even some more experienced solo-jumpers inviting you to jumps. So what if they move on to new students? Just cool to have been one of them with the possibility of coming back!
  10. Or is the weather in general too bad..?
  11. My immediate choice would be a Silhouette. After research (not demo) the Silhouette seemed to have the conservative qualities I originally was looking for (consistent openings, forgiving yet fun and easy pack). So time will show if the Pulse will be comfortable to jump (i.e. it seem to be used by more experienced pilots, be more sensitive to bodyposition and also sligthly less forgiving when compared to the Silhouette). Pilot seem great as well and I like how the lines are marked, but I considered it not as the best canopy for a beginner. It was interesting to read that it has a flatter glide when compared to the Pulse. Mushy??
  12. Hei, thanks for the comments so far, they were all great!
  13. Does it truly make you stress free on openings and landings? (not only compared to other more HP canopies) Would you recommend it as a novice/in transition main canopy for the conservative yet fun looking jumper?
  14. You never know in which direction the wind is going to blow in this forum..
  15. I agree! Pertaining to my prior post though, that jumper isn't asking about video making in the same sense most of the lower jump # people do. He truly believes that some private POV reviewable input would assist him with his methodical approach. From what he's told me, I have some doubts that he 'really' needs it ~ because he's extremely aware of what, why & how he's doing what he's doing. I think he believes it would give him a helpful & positive edge with his learning & progression. Someone who believes a camera is going to make the difference has in my opinion missed the whole point. Starting off by breaking "safety-rules" and do everything your own way has no place in methodically learning.
  16. There are so much to enjoy in skydiving besides from video making. Whats the hurry??
  17. Was it a low final turn into strong wind? Hope she recovers fast!
  18. How long is a piece of string? What you'll see overall at Eloy is people being pretty conservative in general. It'll be nice tomorrow, so why chance it today. So the DZ will slow down in conditions many others find normal. Summer in the afternoon is the tricky time when the dust devils usually come out. Hehe.. Sounds good! I will be there in March. Dust devils go away..I do not want to be friends with you!!
  19. How are wind conditions at Skydive Arizona (Eloy)?
  20. Wind Jacket or the Monster Dogs would do you fine. Thanks! I will look into both.
