Not speaking for the club, but I know that at South Sask, it is our belief that we have to always encourage "New Blood" to come up and help out. I have to admit that I have learned alot from our senior staff, and I know that I strive to be as good as them. Without that new blood, I believe that clubs will die. I believe that is what happened with PSM. With that in mind as well, we fun jumpers realize that the students that come in is what supports us. We all have to chip in, and in turn we get to have more "less expensive" fun. I also believe that this year is going to be a turning point for us. There are more up and comers in our club, we get a second plane and... well... wow... it is going to be a great year. So in short, if fun jumpers realize that students help them accomplish their goals, and those fun jumpers in turn help the students, I see no reason that clubs cannot continue to exist.

Does anyone have any pictures of the x-out option? I have seen the red one on the webpage, but I have not seen any others as of yet.

I am heading down south late in late March/early April 2007. Are there any dz's near Mexico City that would be operating during the week? I am not 100% sure of my schedule, but I am trying to plan for any for any eventuality.

Hey yall. I put an order into Tony Suits a few months ago, and I still have not gotten my pants. Tony suits has already charged my credit card early in April. I wet on their website, and there was a note that stated that production has been delayed. I was wondering if anyone knew if they are back up and running as of yet? I have sent some e-mails to them, and they have not responded as of yet. Any other suggestions on how to find out what's up? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Way Cool vs. Cookie vs. Royal Lenses

The PC 109 is a 25mm lense. I have one, and that is the step up ring that I use (25mm to 30mm) -
Congratz kelly! I know that Kurtis was really looking forward to it. Tee hee hee... I am glad that he SHATTERED Paul and Shamus's records :)

Someone once told me that you can use them in one of those C battery flash lights. You just have to get a different bulb, and bamb... you have a flash light that will shine, and last for a VERY long time. Now, as I say this, I have not tried it yet... but I hear it works great.

I would have to agree with the decision that was made. Using your hook knife on a canopy, and landing with rear risers is MUCH more risky than just going to reserve... not to mention a hell of a lot cheaper. $50 for a repack... or what... $100-$200 for new lines and a potentially more dangerous landing? I think the ey that shows that you made the right decision is that you are telling us what happened, instead of us reading it in the paper/ some other 2nd hand source. Good job... now did you say beer? :)

Like all technology, there are always updates of the models each year. This is the same with the HC series of sony camcorders. The 2005 versions of the HC20, 30 and 40 are the HC21, 32 and 42. I believe sony.com has lots of info there... http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_BrowseCatalog-Start;sid=oCaV9o678MKV0czL0C6f_cG2QW49H6g1Vq0=?CategoryName=dcc_DICamcorders_MiniDVHandycamCamcorders&Dept=cameras

Ahhh skip Calgary... come to Regina. Most people who live in Calgary are from Saskatchewan anyways... btw... If I remember correctly, prices are like $22 to 9500...
-
I am AB Neg... I guess I am "Special" :)
-
That's nothing. Here in Canada, the average is 92.9 per litre. In Regina, we are at 94.9. Now lets do some conversion on that. At 92.9cdn, it is 74.3usd per litre, or 297.28 usd per gallon. at 94.9 it is 75.9 per litre or ... egads 303.68 per gallon. Any yall are complaining!

Murray, that's nothing. Last night, here in Regina, we got 4 inches and we are expecting another 2-4 inches tomorrow. Of course it is above zero, so the snow all melts and makes nice slushy roads.

Just a dumb question... and the far fetched possibility that this is real (which I highly doubt). So the guy says that they were just jumping into a field from another friends plane, and one of em bit the bullet... would the FAA not have gotten involved due to the fact that someone died while jumping from a plane... and to top it off... would not some wuffo news reporter hear this and make a big stink of how dangerous this was?
-
Was thinking the same thing... but yet again, darn... not quick enough. Jason

I saw that and I almost puked... my dear god... "I have cleaned up the blood as much as possible..." yeppers... I am sure one of us would buy that. This is what gives skydiving a bad name... btw... you beat me to posting this... dang you! :) Jason

What can I say... it is one great place to learn how to skydive and to have a good time. The staff puts safety before everything else, and the regulars make sure that you have a great time. For experienced jumpers driving through... just stop by and you can get on the next load.

Shit!! How do I get the damn thing in the bag!?!?
colossus replied to Jeth's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You know what... it is sad to say, but I am glad to hear that others are having a tough time as well. First time I tried to pack that Sabre2 190, I swear that someone changed my d-bag for a smaller one. I looked, and said that thing just ain't gonna fit in there. 3 hours later... she was in... But... still 3 months till we can start jumping again, so I have plenty of time to practice. -

I feel your pain man. I just got myself a Sabre2, and I am having a bitch of a time trying to put it in the bag. All I can say is practice, practice practice. Heck, I am at a small dz, so there is no way that I would be able to get a packer for myself. Anyways, good luck! -
Well same for us southern Canadian Prairie folk... I'm 54% (Dixie). Barely into the Dixie category.

How did you get into skydiving?
colossus replied to sparknote_s's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
How did I get into Skydiving? Well... I always wanted to go, and it was right before my wedding... and I was talking with a few of my friends, and my fiance. She was going to have a 'girly' day, and well... I wanted to do something different. One of the guys, being a shit, said why don't you just jump out of an airplane... it's just like getting married... you can only go down! I thought it would be a great opportunity to put him in his place and we went. The fiance said that she would let me do it then only because she could live with becoming a spinstress, but never a widow. Being macho, my friend decided to jump as well... and... well... he did it, but was scared shitless afterwards... Me... I was hooked. As for my wife... she has been reluctant... but has accepted that it is something that drives me. -
I love mine. Very quite and it allows me to concentrate on the jump itself... not the wind. I leave the lense up in the plane, and on jump run, close it and ready to go. It does not open until I need it to. As for the shield... yah it is a bit thin but it will do what it is designed to: keep the wind, and "other objects" out of my face. The anti-fog bubs me a bit (I have a small son and he likes touching it). I have found that the shield is not that tough to replace. you just hae to make sure you follow the directions and not over tighten. Jason

Whats the fallrate of a pumpkin?
colossus replied to bch7773's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Told yah! Before Halloween we were jumping pumpkins. And as one of my fellow jumpers said... "If you thought a pumpkin was fun, yah gotta see a watermellon". Ahh btw. If you REALLY want to see something cool, check out the impact crater. -
I know that I am not ready to jump with one, but I am interested in getting one to EVENTUALLY jump with. I think that I have come down to the same conclusions that you have. From my research, there is not much difference between the two. What I have found though is the d-box for the HC40 is not as common as those for the PC109. Now, many manufacturers do have it, but as far as I have found, there are more opttions for the 109. Does that justify the price difference? I dunno. Lemme know what you buy... and WHERE you buy, then I will get mine :)
