  1. I was at CF 2 years ago, and again this year. I was quite amazed of the drop off in those 2 years. With that being said, the groups that were there, are dedicated groups, and I believe that they will continue to come. There were groups from DZ's that I saw 2 years ago, that were not at this years. Why is that? Is it because of Nationals coming up soon, or the P3 camps, the economy, or the drive? I would say it can be and is part of all those reasons. The group I was with were talking with some of the old timers, and the current CouchFreaks. It those who I spoke with's opinion that it will change, but it will continue. The CF boogie may just go back to it's roots where it was a celebration of the end of the summer, and just be a bit smaller. All things come in ebbs and flows. Perhaps we are in a downturn now, and in a few years it will come back to it's glory. Who really knows. All that I do know is that I had a kick ass time, met with some great friends, and made some great new ones. I had lots of jumps, lots of beer and was hot as hell. One of the nights I was talking with a CF, and a bunch of us were asking, how can we make this better. His response was if you have a great idea, put it into play. Just because the CF are running the boogie does not mean that you can't bring great ideas to it.
  2. I just spoke with one of the CF's. He said that there were Ad's in last month's Parachutist, and will be ad's in the upcoming issues. Dollar Daze is a go. The person who you spoke with, from what I am feeling right now, is mispoken on this issue :)
  3. Where did you hear this from? I know that I am making my summer plans based on Dollar Daze...
  4. I took a closer look at the door this weekend at the DZ, and those edges are not sharp at all. Unfortunately, pictures don't always tell the whole story.

Looks like Chuting Star has them in stock: http://www.chutingstar.com/skydive/m2
  6. I was reading on Recon's website that the alti and other things reset after 6 hours of non-use. This REALLY sucks for me as I will have to adjust for about 2000 ft each time.
  7. Can you post some more pictures? How did you set it up in the G3? What mods did you have to do to get it in there?
  8. I was taking a close look at mine last night as it was charging. The lense on the front of the goggles is only held in place by tabs on each side of the goggle, and it appears that it is also glued at the nose piece. My concern is that if there were enough force at the wrong angle in freefall that the lense will snap off pretty easilly. For those who can jump with them, please provide feedback as you can, as well as tips for usage!! :)
  9. Quick question folks. Anyone know how to zero out the altitude so that I can see the AGL altitude, instead of the ASL altitude?
  10. I just got my shipping notification this morning from Recon. Whoo hoo! Now all I need is a open DZ in my area as well!
  11. BTW, I ain't hiding, and I have seen a lot of these personal attack posts that you have been putting up. Please, keep naming people. Tis fine by me. If you carefully re-read what I originally posted, I never said that you were banned. I only questioned if you would even be allowed to jump there. I never said you couldn't. The DZ is a VERY small volunteer run organization. The people that you are slagging are the people who have committed timeless hours to ensure that the operations continue. Although some of us have our short moments at time, they are far between. We are all human and sometimes we have our bad moments. Perhaps you were around when he had one of his. I don't know, but I do know what I have seen from your postings, and I know him personally. If you wanted to have a better experience in Skydiving, spamming internet boards, and not talking directly with the BOD at the DZ are not ways to be successful IMHO. I am expecting that this topic will be closed shortly by a greenie, like many of your other topics that have had numerous personal attacks, which of course are against the rules of the DZ.com board. On a side note, if you ever want to talk, give me a call/pm/email me, and I can help you out however I best can. Back to the original topic. Money should not be a driver between whether or not you jump at 3k (which is allowed CSPA PIM 1 states for a solo you have to deploy by 2500 ft) vs 10.5k. IMHO, one should have well rounded skills, and then as they progress, specialize. If you only have 40 jumps... just get out and jump. As for fitting in, if you don't find that you communicate well with one person, there are other instructor, and coaches out there. Unlike other dz's, as we are all volunteers, we coach for free. The expectation though, as we were and are, is to pitch in and help out the greater cause. One last note (and this is a personal peeve), don't spam the boards with multiple posts over a short period of time. Think of what you want to post, and then post it.
  12. Jump ticket price = $24 for 10,500 feet or $13 for 3000ft Well, there is only one DZ in your area that has those rates as all of the other DZ's charge a hell of a lot more. If I also recall, that is the DZ that you have slagged in the past, and written terrible reviews about. Frankly, before you start figuring out what to do based on money, you better figure out if you will even be allowed to jump there. This is a VERY small community, and you are from a VERY small province.
  13. Philip, Do you have any more feedback on your setup of your ModLive in your G2? I know that there is the big order that is being completed with Jeb right now, and I am interested to hear how you like using the ModLive without goggles. Thanks!
  14. Thinking about this more. How fast does the GPS lock in? Are there issues of when you are in the aircraft?
  15. I would love the technology, but I don't like the idea of the goggles. I prefer to have it under the shield of my G2. If there were an option for that, then I'm in.
  16. Hey Folks, I just downloaded the IPhone 4way Coach App (Really cool app folks!) It got me thinking, is there a resource out there that has a listing, and pictures of other formations of other sizes? etc, 2, 3, 5, 6 etc way jumps? I find I am a book learner, and just seeing what is possible, with the proper names, will help me along. Thanks folks!
  17. Do you have a schedule past SummerFest in mind? Are you thinking about hitting either Lost Prairie or Couch Freaks?
  18. Well, the winter was really long, and I had way too much time on my hands... I also decided to try to make my own GoPro Mudflap mount... What are your thoughts? I based the attachment on other mudflap mounts that I have seen before. I have not had a chance to fly with it yet, but it seems very secure. Jason
  19. Hmmm... interesting mount. I am in the middle of having a mount made for the GP on the mudflap. My idea is to have a plate, like the BH Alti Mudflap mount, go up under the mudflap... I was thinking that it would be a more stable platform than something like this. Very nice though. Jason
  20. Your CSPA info is out of date. As per the April 2008 PIM 1: 3:23 Parachutists, possessing at least a B CoP, and being competent in the freefall discipline in which they wish to participate as a videographer, should seek advice from experienced freefall videographers regarding the type of equipment to be used in order that they may safely engage in this activity. At least one functioning audible altimeter must be used, and an Automatic Activation Device should also be used. There are also mentions in PIM 2C, but that was last updated in 2004
  21. Are you speaking from experience? :) Looking at it more, yeppers I think that Bonehead mount might just do the trick.
  22. Cool... I know what my next purchase is going to be. Thanks!
  23. I have a "wedge" mount for my alti on the left side. I was not even thinking about the Bonehead mount. I know that it is angled... is that an issue or an advantage as it would point the camera to my face? (I am not that ugly you know! ) Any other issues mounting the camera to the bonehead mount?
  24. Does anyone have any pictures of MudFlap mounts for GoPros? I have seen chest mounts, but I have not seen any for mudflaps? I have seen videos of people using them on youtube... but alas no pics. If you have used one, how well did it work for you? Thanks!
  25. Our 8yr old son this year, found the stash of gifts... some of them already labeled. When he asked "what's up" we simply told him that due to down sizing, and the increased belief quotent in Santa, that he has had to get help. So... since he has invested so well in the past, and since he has shares in UPS, FedEx and all of the big toy/electronic companies. Through these vast connections that he has, he is able truck contract certain services such as toy making and delivery. Also to make sure that all the kids get their gifts on time, sometimes deliveries are early. BUT he still has enough magic left that if our son is bad, those gifts can disappear... At this point, our son has narrowed Santa down to either Warren Buffet, or some other old geizer with a lot of doh and the capability of growing a white beard. We have not disagreed with him as of yet. Ahh... he also figured out that the tooth fairy also outsources... but that is another conversation.
