I'm no expert, obviously, but it sounds to me like the MLW might be too short. I am far too long into the torso for the student rigs my DZ has, and that's how I always felt before I got my custom rig. I may however, be wrong, and in fact probably am. This is kind of hard to describe, so I'll go draw an illustration, but are your leg straps near perpendicular to your thigh, or are they at a large angle from perpendicular? Illustration is done, and masterfully so: Do the legstraps fit more like A, or B? cavete terrae.

My Fusion opens very well. 700-800 feet or so I'd guess. cavete terrae.

Anyone have a scanner and the March issue of Parachutist?
grue replied to grue's topic in The Bonfire
Dude, is this the picture saying "Scott Campos lands from a sunset wingsuit jump?" That is not Campos (nor could it be, since he was in Colombia at the time). Yeah, I dunno where they got his name from. I tagged it as following when I sent it: The shot is of a wingsuit flyer (name unknown) on his final approach for landing. The shot was taken during sunset at Skydive Arizona in Eloy, during the 2005 Dropzone.com Holiday Boogie on the 27th of December. cavete terrae. -

My scanner's been broken for about a year, but I wanna get a scan of page 51. Anyone? cavete terrae. -
99 times out of 100, I'll be wearing sport sandals (currently Nike Straprunner Vs, but they suck. Tevas next time). When I'm not wearing those, I'm wearing indoor soccer shoes. I wear these, including for jumping: http://spiceweasel.net/albums/d70favourites/shoessteps.sized.jpg I wanna get another pair, but they're like a non-existent product. I think I have the only pair in the world or something. cavete terrae.

I had the same thought, but that sunset landing photo in the Eloy article is pretty badass (I owe beer ) cavete terrae.

THey typically don't, but if the unit is jarred while it's spinning the drive, it can damage the platters of the disk. cavete terrae.

Incidentally, Quicktime now plays WMA and WMV files. Yeah, ironically I _PAID_ for that bit of software about a week before they made it free Oh well! cavete terrae.

That is fucking awesome. If it were not so long, I would steak it for my sig line. The two things I CANNOT STAND about iPod users are: 1) Using the earbuds. Those things are totally ass. Get yourself a decent pair of headphones. You can get Koss Portapro's for 50 bux with a lifetime warranty. Believe me, the difference is immense. Stop wearing the earbuds to let everyone know how awesome you are. Just like everyone else. b) In line with 1) The guy who just holds his iPod. He is not fiddling with it. He has pockets and yet he still has it in his hand. Why? In anycase, I like the iPod and when my Dell DJ dies, I may pick one up if the current gen of Dell Dj's sucks at the time. But I have a Gen 1 Dell Dj. The thing is built like a tank.

Yeah, it's that whole 'facts' thing that people ahve issues with Usually these are the same people who hate any popular music BECAUSE it is popular. I swear to god some people will say that breathing sucks because everybody does it now, and they were big in the breathing scene back when it was underground. cavete terrae.

I seem to have misplaced my sense of tact somewhere. ANyone seen it? cavete terrae.

Just don't jump with it Turns out they're not kidding about that 10,000 foot unpressurised operation limit on hard drives! Not enough air density to float the heads above the platters. That's the reason I bought a nano after I killed my 30GB iPod last year cavete terrae.

That is where I disagree. The Ipod will NOT play WMA format Songs. My first nightmare with my Ipod cam from the fact I bought a BUNCH of legally Downloaded songs off Napster. Because they Were LEGALLY purchased "Rights Managed" Songs.. Itunes (or any other software for that matter) would not convert them. ANY other MP3 Player in the world will play them. Just NOT the iPod. (Cause WMA is Windows Media and Apple doesnt like Windows.) Ipod tries to force you to use iTunes. Which SUCKS for a very large Music collection. Ipod tried to prevent you from easily transferring Files (Songs or otherwise) to and from the devise without using iTunes. Ipods do NOT have easily replaceable batteries. Yes you can HACK the devise to replace the Battery when it dies.. But why Bother.. Just buy a devise that has a replaceable Battery.. And WHAT is it that Ipod does that other MP3 Players dont do?? NOTHING!! And Im done here.. I am leaving to catch a Plane to a Happy Place now!! It has a far superior interface and design. THat's what it does better. My point is still correct. iTunes is the most popular legitimate way of getting music online. This is a fact, and thus you were disagreeing with a fact. It's like saying that I'm not sitting on a futon right now. You might believe it, but you'd still be wrong. No, it won't play WMA, but WMA's a shitty format anyway. I won't argue I think it should play everything out there, but oh well. The battery is easily replaced if you have a clue. You pop open the case, unclip the connector, and put on the new one. I've actually done it, have you? If you don't want to use iTunes, there are a number of other software applications that'll let you move music to it. Apple makes it difficult to take the music back off because they're trying to limit pirating. Again, easy to get around with alternate software. God forbid people actually think for themselves and do a little research before spouting off on something they obviously do not have any firsthand knowledge of. cavete terrae.

$39 for the battery if you're willing to do it yourself. I could teach a triplegic monkey with Down's syndrome to do it, too. cavete terrae.

I'm actually going to hack my nano to hold 8GB. I love it, but 4GB just isn't enough. I should note that mine has about 40 skydives on it now cavete terrae.

I've been looking for an excuse to post this image. cavete terrae. -
We really need a "rolling eyes" smiley. The 1% of the population, if that, who wants the features the iPod doesn't offer (like what? FM Radio? Who the hell actually choses to listen to that shit?) will get the player that has the features they want. Most people want a player that's easy to use, and works with the most popular legal online music source. That's the iPod. cavete terrae.
-
No to the first question. All batteries die eventually, depending on use, but the battery can be replaced. It's not as easy as a normal iPod, but it's far from impossible. That rumour is spread by mentally deficient alarmists. Usually these people are pissed that their MP3 player isn't as popular as the iPod Yes to the second. Apple offers a 3year warranty, which covers the battery too. The Nano doesn't hold nearly as much as the HD-based iPods, but it'll take more abuse. Any HD-based MP3 player is going to be vulnurable to data loss and/or drive failure of it's jarred while the drive is spinning. Also, you can't use 'em while skydiving! Nano is jumpable though! I think most guys would rather have their whole music collection than a smaller player, for what it's worth. Just tell him not to smack it whilst it's running cavete terrae.

HMA and RDS on non crossbraced canopies.
grue replied to dsbbreck's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Yup, beat me to it. My Fusion is far from the world's most high-performance canopy, but it has HMA lines. Loading it at around a 1.2, I'm not pushing it very hard, but even though the lower drag doesn't do much for me personally, anyone can appreciate the longer lineset life. The only thing I don't like is the cooked spaghetti look of the lines cavete terrae. -
Don't know off the top of my head, but I'll steal a look at the pump next time I'm at the DZ! cavete terrae.
