I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a chart, or table, comparing altitude loss during a toggle turn on various canopies at various wing loadings? thanks, Ross

I hadn't heard that but I was surprised when I ordered a new pilot chute from Strong for my Quasar II and it arrived and was F-111, when I was expecting zero p.

I couldn't agree more. I have messed with Garageband a little bit (my kids love it!), but I totally agree about iDVD. It is really slow on 800mz G4 iMac with 1GB of RAM. But, iPhoto, and iMovie are both better. I find iMovie 4 much faster, although I have already had one of those "quit unexpectedly" messages.

Thanks a bunch Quade! so much to learn...I agree, exits are tough... I have just started to shoot these, so better to get advice now and, as you said, not learn bad habits!

Hey, thatnks for all the tips... I usually fly just above and to the side (the last jump was using a .3 diamond lens) so the angle is really flat. Next time I will use no wide angle, which allows me to be up higher and get a steeper angle (I can thank Fuzzy for that tip). That also gives me a little bit of room is someone decides to do something nasty like that

I have just over 300 jumps, and have about 60 camera jumps. What I do is have the questions I want to ask about ahead of time, and pick a time when the Camera guy I want to ask is not busy (end of the day, weathered out, etc.). So far, anyone I have talked to has been more than willing to help me out. Good Luck!

Wow, I would have been getting out of the way QUICK!.. I just started flying camera last year (about 60 camera jumps now). I got the chance this past weekend to shoot an 8-way, and my thinking was at breakoff, watch out for people tracking underneath me, and find a hole (like Rickster). Just my newbie .02 Ross

Ooohhh... could you drink beer and fall asleep on the shore too?

My diamond .3 only fogs when it is really humid. but the center of the lense seems to stay clear. Gives you kind of a softening look to the shot.

Congrats! Enjoy the day!

Me again... well, I'm married now... wedding was a blast! we jumped into the field beside my house, handed of our rigs to our ground crew, walked up the aisle and got married...we have had crappy weather for jumping all year, but Saturday was 27 degrees (that's around 82 F), and a very calm, almost not there at all NW wind... now we are knee deep in prep to go to xkeys and meet all the good folks down there... and jump the chopper! Woo Hoo! ross (I really need to think up a good sig!)

I am!! And we are both skydivers.. Honeymooning in crosskeys!

Will do... we can't wait. 2 weeks from today we drive down. We promise to bring more sunshine with us!

That's "What's the deal with Canadian bacon, eh?"
-
I am praying! It has sucked here too (Ottawa, Canada). I have only had 7 jumps since March... it really sucks! But we're looing forward to meeting some good people at xkeys.

What, no Canadian jokes! We canucks could use a chuckle!

I am heading down to crosskeys in a couple of weeks and was wondering who I should look to get some freefly coaching? I am pretty comfortable in a sit and stand, but having diffculty in transitions (cartwheeels specifically). Anyway, I will be down there for a week, and thought I should try and hook up with a good coach.

I assume you are talking about a video lens. I have a Diamond .3 and it is fabulous ($175 US). It is very wide, so you have to stay close, but the clarity and colour are amazing.

I had 40ish jumps when I bought a rig, without a main, tried it on the ground and the guy I bought it from was a similar size and body type to me. I got the main seperately and when I got the two together I asked an instructor at our DZ jump it just to make sure them main was ok (since I bought from someone I didn't know over the net).. luckily it all worked out well, and 50 jumps later, I finally jumped my own rig! That was a couple of hundred ago, so I guess, if you can't jump it before you buy it, make sure it fits on the ground, and have someone at your DZ check the fit for you, and see if you can get someone to jump it for you, just to make sure.. just a few thoughts from north of the 49th!

I had some problems with my pc9, but it turned out to be the pressure on it from the d-box. I cut out the foam, and voila, it works fine. Does your work with the cameye when it is not on your helmet? ross

It will be my first new rig (I'm so excited!

Thanks a bunch! I have decided on the Vector... now comes the hard part.. colors, options... I can't wait! Thanks for all the advice!

Just curious... why "stay away from tube stows"? This is the first time I have heard this. I had heard not to double them, but to stay away from them.. Thanks, Ross
-
I am considering these two rigs, and thought I would ask the experts what they think fo the two. I do a little of everything, but mostly camera at the moment. I so some sit flying, very little head down, and some 4 way belly flying, besides doing camera stuff... so, any insight you guys could offer would be great. Thanks, Ross

I like that idea!
