All I can think about on the weekdays is the weekend and driving down to the DZ which is basically my weekend home now. I'm pretty much checked out at work now, all I can think about job wise is finding one that pays better so I can jump more lol. I guess the only upside job wise is that skydiving is motivating me to find a better job. Every other luxury purchase has pretty much become not important, every extra dollar I have outside of regular expenses I'm saving now to buy my gear for when I'm done with AFF and the 12 free jumps included since I prepaid for my course. I'm down to a handful of whuffo friends now. My old friends bore me now. When I see people posting pictures on facebook from their weekend of club hopping, getting drunk (all for way too much $$$) or going hiking (yawn) I realize how boring my routine was before. Luckily I've replace those friends with a much larger more exciting bunch! The only thing Green about these jobs is the amount green it takes to create them and then watch it evaporate. You can't force demand, that's up to the consumers. Green jobs will be created as the public's demand for green products increases (Toyota Prius for example). Sadly that isn't going to happen much when a lot of people are unemployed and wages are stagnant and people can't afford to shell out more for green anything. I'm currently doing my AFF at Skydive Orange. It's one of the best/biggest DZs in the area with a really thorough AFF course and the people there are super friendly. It's got a friendly club atmosphere and they're building a new hangar. They also have some of the newest student equipment and some of the most experienced instructors there are and a nice big twin otter with powerful engines, gets you up quick and is a lot more comfortable than jumping out of a cessna, plus you get up to 13.5k feet. Perhaps come check it out before you commit to that place. Can't hurt. Unions cost people jobs. Either by forcing companies to close shop or by simply demanding pay that is too high to allow new employees to be hired. Sure that one unionized worker is making a good wage, but at the expense of other potential workers who need a wage of any kind, especially in today's economy. I attribute it to successive generations having grown up in comfort afforded them by their parent's/Grandparent's hard work resulting them in expecting that way of life to be the norm forever, but without putting in the hard work required. I voted/vote Libertarian. I'm an agnostic who doesn't support the war on drugs, the wars in general or oppose homosexuals, I don't support religions as a basis for shaping government, and am just sad to see the discourse of both extremes. I'm also Asian and moved here when I was 18. Also what "stereotype" was I making, it was a statement of fact, this does happen. People will accept the minimum comforts for minimum required effort.
