  1. Damn. That's one mason's tender who should be clsssified as SKILLED labor. Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. Louis D Brandeis Where are we going and why are we in this basket?
  2. California Relative Workers were doing some kind of "freeform" stuff in the mid '60s. They didn't call it free style. They called it Funnels.
  3. You hit the nail on the head. Nonsequetor is very good now. Some times with regular characters located in Maine some where and sometimes just a single panal. Peanuts. A timeless classic. All the engineers on here must be in a meeting to find out why production is down. No one has mentioned Dilbert. How many remember when Farly died saving April? Academia Waltz was a precussor to Bloom County and both can be found daily. Flo is a saint to put up with Andy Capp. I don't know if Baldo is widesprad but it's certainly worth a look. Rose is Rose is the very soul of family joy. I would've thought that Cathy would be mentioned by at least one of the ladies. I don't know if these are considered classic or if they need to be dead first. I read them every day either in the paper or online. 4. Have you ever heard the Jack Parr story about the WC? Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. Louis D Brandeis Where are we going and why are we in this basket?
  5. Wow! Hard to tell who the asshole is here. I've been told I will never have hemroids because I'm a perfect asshole.
  6. I've heard of this sort of thing but only encountered it once. After an argument, that's all just an argument, I'm comming out of a bar in Palatka and for some reason I stop and back up a step. The other "arguer" came diving, yeah, diving off the deck roof. He landed right in front of me at my feet. I was flabergasted. I had no idea what to do so I just went on to my car. He had lost all interest in me and was rolling around on the ground holdong his shoulder. I chaulked it up to dumb luck or a guardian angel. He would've beaten the living shit out me. 7. I think you did exactly the right thing. Bullys should NOT be tolerated. Having the victim turn on you is not uncommon in these situations, from what I've read. Battered people (mostly women) think that they are the ones at fault. A lot of psychological baggage & bullshit. Still, someone whaleing on someone else just because they can is simply not right. And it shouldbe explained and/or denonstrated to them in ways not to be misunderstood. You did the right thing. But be ready for the second act next time. 8. Observation aided by history and realism. Cynirealism or Cynistory...
  9. He said, "I'm not a crook." If he had said, "I'm not an asshole", I think Lee Harvey Oswald would have gotten up out of his grave and shot him. To the applause of the nation. 10. You didn't make this a pole. Very few people realize that they are an asshole. It's the people who must deal with them that make the determination. Everyone brings joy to a room. 11. From the time I could walk, my greatest thrill was to find a big hill or new pile of dirt. Get to the top and jump off. That second or two of freefall was what I iived for. The bigger the hill, the better. I've always liver in the south so I don't know anything about that kind of snow. I wouldn't have gone first but I probably would have gone. When I was younger. 12. Then tall people would say they're being discriminated against. What are they supposed to do to lose weight, cut their legs off at the knees? Those basketball players can afford it.
  13. Nah Nick, WE"RE better off with his clothes on. Hey Jon, hope you and yours are doing well. Richard Nixon fell from grace while wearing the emporer's new clothes. Does the metaphore count?
  14. That activity is for young people with rubber bodies. I went snow skiing ONE time. I found out that I can go way, WAY faster than I need to and WAY, WAY. WAY faster than I want to. But I did get a round of applause from the lodge deck as I picked myself up at the end of the last run.
  15. If I won $50,000,000, I would take the annuity payout. 29 or 30 years, take about 40% in taxes, and that leaves about $1000,000 AFTER taxes. I could make ends meet on that. Set up some kind of income for my wifes kids and hope they are smart enough to prepare for the time when they have outlived the annuity. I know how I would set that up. A nice house on a big piece of land. I know how I would build that. I think some lottery got up to 300 million one time. With my plan, that would be 6 million a year. AFTER taxes. A wind tunnel big enough for a straight 8 way cat might be a bit much but a big wind tunnel for sure. Reciculating like the Paraclete tunnel, next to the runway, in Florida, close to either the beach or the St. John's River. OR, there's a nice piece of land just north of DeLand between Lake Diaz and another like to the north. That would make a great Boy Scout, Girl Scout, Music, Summer Camp and athletic facility. Some thing to get kids off their ass and out doors. I know how I would want that. Not that I've given it a lot of thought, you understand.
  16. You posted 5 minutes later. You've had this fantasy for quite a while. (Not that I don't)
  17. This doesn't address the current problem but an idea for the future. The airlines should charge by the pound. Treat every thing as freight. The capacity of the plane is XXX. The cost of the fleight is YYY. Weigh everyone with all their bags. Do the math and that's how much your ticket is. Also, some one needs to invent a new kind of seat. Maybe some kind of bench with sliding armrests and seat belts. You weigh so much, you get this much room. Now remember. You heard it here first.

    Are you crazy?

A computer tech comes into the company to fix the big computer. He runs a test or two. He takes out a small hammer and hits the computer in the lower left corner. He gives the company a bill. $500. The company manager says this is outragious and wants the bill itemized. The tech revises the bill. One blow with a hammer ------------------ $5.00 Knowing where to use the hammer ------- $495 Tech Support is one of the levels of Hell or would have been had Dante wrtten on one. 19. Olga Korbet doing a back summersault to a catch on the unevens was the most revelutionary move till the Thomas Flair. But her move was WAY gutsy. 20. Joe Morgan had a theory about dogs shitting on drop zones. I don't know if he ever tried it but I think it would probably work. When you see a dog shitting on the drop zone, if you rub the OWNERS nose in it, the dog will never shit there again. 22. I don't recognize the tune to this one. Anyway... Our club onece had a spotter who was really something hot He'd remove the students toggles and still drop them on the spot He never took a student up who ever chickened out He'd get them standing on the wheel and to the pillt shout "Gear up and let hin go, There's not a damn thing but the target down below Gear up and let him fall. If he don't open he's a gonner." Willy took a new girl up He had her on the wheel The plane was nearing exit as she started to appeal Willy held her out there wouldn't let her back inside With his free hand grabbed the gear switch and then to the pilot cried "Gear up and let her go, There's not a damn thing but the target down below Gear up and let her fall. If she don't open he's a gonner." The plane was now asending to the 30 second height Willy he unhooked his leg strap just lookin' for a light The leg strap went unnoticed as he climbed out on the wheel And as he started back inside he heard the pilot squeal "Gear up and let hin go, There's not a damn thing but the target down below Gear up and let him fall. If he don't open he's a gonner." Willy snatched to tie his legstrap but he went into a spin Pulled and came out of his harness and he started augering in But his eyes they kept a'searching and like always found the spot He went into a track made a splash right on the dot. 23. I've got a 2008 Honda Accord LX with automatic transmission. The sticker said 27 MPG and I get 26.5 to 27. I don't drive hard but I some times drive fast. 85 to 95 on uncrowded interstates. At one time I had a 1984 Honda Civic 3 Door Hatchback. I routinely got 35 MPG in Fla. I drove it from DeLand to Seattle in '91. The mileage seemed to get better out west for some reason. West of the Rockies I was getting 40 - 45 and for 2 tank fulls from Nev through Calif. I got 50 MPG. Driving cost about the same as flying and I had a much better time and I had a car when I got there. I don't remember what the gas prices were. Not nearly what they are now, that's for sure. 24. By "phone records", do you mean the other phone numbers you called and called you or the content of those calls? I think content is already scanned, along with e-mail, by the NSA using key words. Or it might be just science fiction TV shit. On "Law and Order" they routinely obtain the "luds" (or lugs?) of a suspects phone, land line and wireless. Again, maybe TV shit. But I think the authorities are going to do what ever they think is right to catch whoever they think is the bad guy. Defining "the right thing" and "the bad guy", that's where the problems start.
