ok ok ok you guys got me wondering. where can i look what this D1 means? for me that sounds like a D cat what means 500 jumps + ect ect. however this msg is not about that. ´ is this a USPA guideline?

At 175 jumps im not sure if i qualify as experienced enough to answer this but i can say for sure that you dont even know what you dont know in the begining. That said i believe i was above average. I did do 6 min of tunnel time before the jump but have a decent background of sports, gymnastics, motocross ect and i think these really help with quick thinking and body control. I never had the problem with stand up landings, since jump one ive landed not on my feet about 5-10 times for various reasons. didnt repeat any aff levels and never really tried to swim in the air. somehow the moving against air resistance just made sense. I have always strived to be as humble as i can and not let any comments go to my head which i think also helped. People are more willing to teach someone who is willing to learn. And i was sure to take things slow and recognize that just because you can do something does not mean you should and to still take it slow and follow the processes. So as far as the student status is concerned i think i was above average off the bat but now that ive gotten to the point where its not just learning the basics i would say i learn things at about an average pace. Although i seem to be more willing to commit to try things then most others.

Congrats! I moved to EU from US and i have to say 70 jumps and the whole skydiving life is worth more then a trip to here haha. If you ever make it to Estonia in the summer come do some jumps! End of the season is sad but then you combine travel and jumping and watch ur bank account be nuked! EDIT* Well worth the nuking :)

Pretty much anything you can get into will get you under canopy but as far as comfort :S Try before you buy if at all possible. or get the things serial and contact the manufacturer. they should be able to bring up the measurements it was made for and advise you better

Advice needed... Newbie Wearing booties ....
EOCS replied to shorehambeach's topic in Gear and Rigging
i got a suit with booties after about 120 jumps so ive not much experience on them but the first thing i noticed is that on a break of track then wanted to kick me head down at first and they seem to make my track alot faster. Also..... FF ftw :P -
Clearly he feels threatened by others and does not want them using their skills to beat him. I agree! now whered i put my 75 Velo?

Ive been jumping a pulse and pilot for the last 100 jumps or so and have been doing front riser approaches for at least the last 50. (yes i know this is not much just setting the stage) The pilot is a little easier then my pulse was on the fronts but they are still pretty heavy. I can hold them down but it does take some effort. After this last weekend i noticed my left shoulder was hurting a little when i lift my arm to a near sit fly position. I do plan to see the doctor but the appointment isnt for a while. Are there any warning signs that this may be more serious then a strain? what are some things i can do in the mean time to help it recover? rest and not using it much i suppose. And should this just be a strain how can i help to prevent this kind of injury in the future skydiving. Thanks for any tips/tricks

I had a similar thing but i was suggested to loosen up while in track. make sure not to lose the position. This helped me at least and as you loosen up the sway goes away but of course u dont track as good so u slowly tighten up until you are going fast. Having an experienced tracker jump with you will be the most useful of course... Just my 2 cents

Mine aswell

At our DZ we dont have a green light but the pilot give the load master a 2 min and 1 min warning.. at the one min warning the load master opens the door and looks where we are and spots for the load. usually the 1 min warning is dead on but from time to time its totally off. So i would suggest that the green light its more of a GO to spotting then GTFO of the plane. Recently i have to admit ive not been looking down as much as i should before exit and its something im aware of and working on fixing.

We have IAD at our club and its still very much alive and kicking. (funny to watch people bicycle kick their way to deployment) At our club its cheaper on paper but costs about the same cause of the failed HARTs and turns ect. The one downside it does have is we have a limited amount of student rigs and that plays a huge part into how much you will get to jump, the AFF students use the same rigs but then again you only need to deal with that 7 times during your progression. But to the point of the costs involved that is a major reason why alot of our students are IAD.

Heading to Skydive Spain in Seville for 10 days from Nov 2 -12. Anyone gonna be there for some jumps and beers? On another note. anything i should know about the DZ that they might not mention there? -eocs

Ive no idea what happened but that looked horrible... the reserve deployed ok but then just spun into the ground. Anyone have insight into why? seemed there should have been enough alt left for it to level out after deployment. Sometimes even if you make all the right decisions you still end up holding the bill.. I hope she recovers

Is a windtunnel worth it for AFF?
EOCS replied to flytodeath's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I did 6 min before my aff and i introduced another person to skydiving and had them do 10 min before it aswell.. i totally think its worth it and it helps you not to fail levels in my opinion.. mostly it helps get you over the initial idea of floating on the air :) Good luck on the AFF course! -
Lucky for me ive not seen what embers do to a canopy but i can imagine.. I try to take very good care of my gear and would be pissed if i found burn holes in it. That said,, i dont mind that other smoke as long as its not right next to me or close upwind. its not an issue at our DZ, people go quite far from anything packing/gear/manifest area ect..

In light of the Velo Guy thread...
EOCS replied to peregrinerose's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think you fail to realize us 100-200 jump wonders mad skills (kidding of course) -
Awesome, thanks for the reply!

What that guy in the vid said made total sense to me.. finding that balance point. for me it seems to be right above that point where your track trys to pull you into head down. took alot of advice and about 15 track jumps to find it (ofc its by no means perfect) but i started super flat and just slowly made adjustments on every jump intil i almost went head down then tried to hold right above that point. (still pretty flat). Seems to work really well so far :) Might try to get someone to take some pics from the side or something, would be interesting to see exactly how my body looks EDIT* Also the guys in this BASE tracking vid seem to support the flatter position once you are at terminal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wN24Af8JxhA

Sorry to hear that. Keep at it! its not worth losing out on just because one person is a pain in the ass. Also you typing this post means your english is totally fine for whatever training you need. unless your accent is so heavy its like one of those super fake russian accents u hear only in movies and yea let the DZO know about it (politely) so that others dont get the same poor treatment you have. Good Luck!

HI, Im selling a canopy in classifieds and got a few simple questions from someone. after responding i got a email back from something called spamarrest asks me to click a link and verify im human via some capcha code. I have not clicked the link as im worried it maybe some kinda malicious thing. Anyone have experience with this spam arrest thing? Google shows it as some kinda anti spam service but ive never heard of it before. Insights?

Im a noob and a half myself but there was someone at our DZ that had the same issue for a while and it did come down to that she was not draining all the energy out of the canopy before starting to touchdown and take those last steps. She was afraid it would stall. But i can say with some experience from motocross riding that if you bang up a joint leave it heal for longer then you think you should, the injury can still be on the inside where you cant tell. Also from your cartoons your DZ seems to have really sneaky winds. maybe they are just out to get you. Good Luck!

Jumps per month fun only instructor jumps dont count.
EOCS replied to SkydivingGamer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
About 30, but we have a short season :S Late may to sept/oct -
Thanks to those for answering the question. will demo one and see :) Just to clarify: Reason for switching containers = larger reserve Reason for downsizing = because i feel i am ready. Both my current container and the one i plan to get can hold a 150. I take canopy flight seriously and do practice drills and train with the canopy the same as i would train for freefall maneuvers. That said thank you for pointing out the WL info, i have read it before and done most all the exercises in it and now have re read it. Since these charts differ from maker to maker for example the FAI book we work out of states that at my weight and jumps that a 170 is allowed however the bigairsports says that a 170 is not allowed until 240. As people differ in natural flight ability (people stand up first time flying right back to the DZ vs the person who has 400 jumps still falling ever other landing 300m from the LZ) I will go with how i feel as a pilot and what the more experienced people at my dropzone say. No i dont think im some badass hero but i do feel i can safely fly and land a 150 in all conditions that i would actually jump in.

Hello everyone, Ive been flying a pulse 170 for about 80 jumps now and i really like its characteristics. over the course of the winter i will be staying current and was looking to get a new container that would hold 120-135 (for future DS without a new container) Or in a pulses case 150. Reason is that my current container, while nice, does not have as large/type a reserve as i would like. At this size my WL would be about 1.3 Having done a search on pulse vs pilot i found that dragon2 commented that a pulse at 1.5 didnt flare as well as lower WL and seemed to load up faster. So the question is: Have you flown or are flying a pulse at around 1.3 WL and how do you find it? As always open to advice/suggestions on other canopies :) Thanks
